The rental was exactly as advertised. The owner was available and always checking if the house was missing anything. Rental was well stocked and was just like being at home. 10 of us fit with no problems. The pool was clean and fun to relax in. The family loved it.

Best Property yet of all the rentals for the price

This property is as the manager stated includes everything you need, two washers and two dryers, supply of soap for washer and dishwasher, sink, etc. and because we had the kids with us he even put up a Christmas Tree and we trimmed it. 4 king beds, two twins, extra sheets and towels, napkins, TP, two Barbeque's, 3 refrigerators, and the view is 180 degrees of the ocean and all it glory, close to town for easy shopping, 1000' elevation for cool day and evenings, quiet, large enough to have a large group or family, easy access to the front door and bogie boards, snorkel equipment, etc. and the showers are large enough for two or three to use at the same time. TV's in each bedroom and one large screen tv in living room.
We enjoy big family hosting / three generation groups. Our home is large enough for the kids, teens and Grandpa - all to have their own space. We supply 10 bogie boards, 8 beach chairs and 12 beach towels. Snorkel equip is usually sets left by previous guest. We can not assure proper snorkel quality quantity or fit . Walmart has a snorkel set " US Divers" that is a great value $20 adults $15 kids.....its new for u .. and not yukked up. Large swim pool

Perfect in Every Way
October 9, 2012
This home was perfect in every way! It was very clean and well maintained. The view was phenominal. We saw wonderful sunsets and cruise ships coming and going. We enjoyed the birds serenade in the mornings, the wonderful lemon limes for lemonade, and ripe bananas from the trees. The Shogun Pool Home was a good size for our group of 8 adults and a baby. Our son's family with our grandson had the lower apartment and all the other adults were able to have a comfortable bedroom not a studio couch to sleep on. The home had good ventilation with cool breezes. We appreciated the fact too that we were not far from the beach, if we wanted to go, and yet really enjoyed the pool option for cooling off and visiting times together. Often in the evenings, we would have our other 2 sons, who live in Kona, join us for the meal plus some of their friends. So we would usually feed 12-18 people at supper and had space, tableware, and cooking utensils to make that possible. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, really perfect in every way!
We receive a lot of satisfaction, when families are able to come together and enjoy their stay in our home. We strive to equip, furnish and stock the kitchen for the enjoyment of large families as well as small groups. We are pleased the sons that live in Kona, picked our home after they personally previewed others .

The home itself was beautiful. There were a few hickups here and there but, overall it was a wonderful stay. The first surprise was a mongoose in the master bedroom shower upon arrival - one washer & one TV in the bedroom was not working. Neighbors claimed we were to loud but, that was not a fact or the police would have shown. I think the fact that the street was full of cars was the issue. My family was respectful and had a great visit while we were there. Thank you for respecting our privacy !!

SHOGUN HOUSE IS AWESOME!
June 20, 2012
My husband and I took our 3 children, their spouses and our 3 grandchildren to Hawaii in June 2012 to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Shogun House. It was awesome! It was exactly as described and pictured on the internet. We felt that we all had enough space, didn't feel cramped at all, loved the pool and the proximity to the beaches, etc. There was snorkeling gear, videos and games for the kids, car seats, booster seats, high chair, really everything we could have possibly wanted, and the view of the sunsets over the ocean was "to die for"! The kids loved the house geckos! The two-year old was on constant "gecko watch" and would announce "Gecko" every time she'd spot one! We had an absolutely wonderful time and if we need a place this large again we would certainly stay here again. Thanks!

Great place to stay in Paradise

My family stayed at Shogun House on the Island of Hawaii for 2 weeks this February. For the first week there were 9 adults and 2 children, 2 1/2 years and 6 months. The second week we had 3 fewer adults. The house was perfect for us. It is a little dated but that is more than compensated for by the number of "extras" provided. Every day we found new things available to us. For the kids there were 2 playpens, multiple strollers and car seats, sand toys, as well as toys and books. For the adults there were beach umbrellas, chairs, mats, boogie boards, and a bench full of snorkel equipment and water shoes. The kitchen had more than enough cooking equipment and tons of storage containers which were very useful. Having two washers and dryers was very handy as we had so many people. The pool was a hit with everyone. The maintainance people there were very friendly and helpful, answering our questions about the island and giving suggestions of things to do and places to shop. The middle bedroom upstairs has twin beds that adults used for the first week. They said they were okay but were happy to move to the queen beds for the second week. The twins are really designed for kids. Our son, daughter-in-law and granchildren stayed in the cabana because they didn't want their early rising children to awaken the rest of us. It worked, but they found it a little warm because there is little cross ventilation. They would stay there again. The pros outweigh the cons
Everything you need and more!

This house is equipped with anything you need for a relaxing vacation -- beach towels, bath towels, boogie boards, fully equipped kitchen, two washers, two dryers and detergent! The list goes on! The only down side - geckos in the house which is part of the island splendor. However, as a "city girl" they took a little getting used to even though they were pretty cute (from a distance). They left us alone and were actually growing on me by the time we left. We would return to this home if we ever made our way back to Hawaii.

Great space, good location, spacious rooms, well-stocked. Too many bugs (ants, centipedes, beetles) and geckos in the house. Bug problem made stay somewhat unpleasant. Kitchen was unappealing to work in given ants, bugs. It's ugly to find ants swarming your bed.

This is a great house to stay in. It has a great view of the ocean and all that you need to in a home. I gave it a 3 star due to the neighbors. Had a very small and quiet birthday party and the managment was called and came to the house by 7:30PM.
The Shogun Pool house was perfect for our family gathering. There was space in the living areas for all of us to eat together and relax together, yet we all had enough private sleeping space. The pool was wonderful and the gardens around the house made it feel quite private. And, it was a great place to watch the sunsets. It was great to have a place to come "home" to after our daily adventures. We left feeling that we had made the right choice. Just wanted to let you know that we totally enjoyed staying at your house these past 2 weeks. Everyone in our party had a great time. It was so nice that we never had to go out to buy toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent or dish detergent. I loved seeing all the papayas, bananas, limes and even a small pineapple growing in your yard. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had. We want to return to Hawaii someday and be able to rent your house again as it was stress free. Thanks again, Marianne Moore, West Grove, PA October 2011
The home was a good value compared to a resort. The pool was nice. Our kids used it almost every day. The abundance of supplies was fantastic. We have rented homes in Florida on several occasions and this house was wonderfully convenient, the supplies were abundant, the beds were comfortable, the view was great, and check-in and out couldn't be easier. Thanks for being a part of a great trip! - Brian & Joanne M., Westerville, OH June 2011
We are back to Japan yesterday. We thank you very much for your arrangement. The Shougun Home was just perfect for our family, spacious, BBQ, pool, appliances and the view was truly breath taking. It was a short stay, but we enjoyed everything very much. We would definitely like to go back to your home again someday. Once again, thank you very much for everything. -- Best regards, Tatsuya, Chiba Japan, May 2011
The Shogun Pool house was a terrific place to stay for our week in Hawaii -- extremely well stocked, very convenient to everything, lots of room for an extended family. The kids loved the pool, the adults enjoyed having the grill and lanais available, and everybody made good use of the boogie boards and other gear you had available. Thank you -- Vijay Radics & Family, Norfolk MA April 2011
We enjoyed our stay at the Shogun House very much. The house is beautiful. We loved the view. Everything from paper towels to toilet paper were all stocked up. The 2 washers and dryers were especially helpful as we had to do laundry everyday with the kids swimming and at the beach constantly. The stores were close, even the urgent care is just down the street. We had the best time snorkeling at Kahaluu park, which was very close. Overall, we would strongly recommend this place to anyone that wants to take a family vacation. We loved the location of the house. We hope to return again some day soon. - Sitha K., San Jose CA, Jul 2010
Nothing was needed in the kitchen area; it was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. We never found a need we couldn't resolve with kitchen gear. And we did lots of cooking! The pool was very nice, it was great to beach in the am, come back and sit by pool in afternoon. Also very nice for kids to have a calm place to swim after wave bashing at beach. The home was a great value compared to a hotel: being together, being able to cook dinners, put kids to bed and play cards in the living room, all much better than a hotel. -- Glidewell Family, Seattle Wa, Nov 2009
The house was great. Everyone in our group was very appreciative of how clean it was, their were a lot of supplies. I think the only thing we ran out of was laundry detergent, we just bought some more. The washer and dryers were a great help. The boogie boards were a huge hit too. Boy, was I and everyone else extremely pleased. Thanks again -- Shellie & Sean Huntington, Molalla OR, Mar. 2008
The entire family had a wonderful time at the Shogun home. There were so many pluses that may seem small to you but are very helpful to visitors. To name a few: the beach towels, the boogie boards and other water toys, the paper products and plastic bags so we could make sandwiches, the spices, the laundry supplies, the amazing numbers of glasses and plates, the huge piles of bath towels, ice chest. Thank you for your hospitality. - Ann Nora Kruger, Happy Valley OR Dec 2008
I am glad to comment on our stay at the Shogun Pool Home. It could not have been better. The house was stocked very nicely. We loved having the pool... Our grandkids loved all the pool toys as well as the beach toys. It was great to have all the equipment there that we needed - beach chairs, beach towels, sand toys, boogie boards, etc. It was also great to have some toys in the house for the kids to play with and the high chair and playpens were life savers. We also cooked in a lot and used the BBQ's.
Also something that we didn't expect - there were wild turkeys that went through the yard every day. It was so much fun to see them. We also used the quiet sitting area - just off the back deck by the BBQ's a lot. We told our grandkids it was the secret garden story telling place and they loved it. The two washers and dryers were also great and we were glad to have them - especially after swimming in the ocean. Thanks again. Becky & Mark Warner, West Jordan UT Jan 2009
Our family had a great time during our stay. We found the house very well stocked with all supplies, having the beach chairs to use was a big plus. We enjoyed barbecuing and being able to have everyone together at the dining room table and living area, very roomy. Certainly the price was a plus and so much better than a hotel. We will use your services again. -- Mahalo Linda Jacobson, Long Beach CA, June 2009
