“Great vacation home for a family reunion.”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2016

The Hibiscus Pool Home was an awesome fit for our vacation in Kona. We were close to the beaches, to town, and family was nearby. The kids loved the pool and all the beach gear was much appreciated. The sunsets from the lanai were stunning every day. While it's an older home, Hibiscus Pool Home had all the necessities you would need and some you were pleasantly surprised to see. Its spacious floorplan made it easy to have a family reunion. A few minor details that I would like to see next time is a printer to go with the internet, a few more lights near the BBQ, and get the hot tub working. Otherwise it is a perfect vacation home.

Owner's reply: Were happy you enjoyed that Panoramic sunset ... we have 15 miles + of shoreline views.Enjoy our 32 foot long and 7 foot deep newly refurbished swim pool for refreshing dip in warm Hawaii. The old hot tub stored back in the corner has been hauled off. We had not advertised the hot tub for over 6 years.

“Great location!”

We enjoyed our stay at this home! It accommodated our big group very well. The pool was a nice alternative to the beach, we used it before and after the beach as well. The house could use some updating, but didn't effect our stay.

“Beautiful home & great location”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2014

This home was wonderful! I took my 17 yr old daughter, 19 yr old son, and a friend of my daughter. There are countless reasons to stay here & many more then I am sure I will mention The home is beautiful, the location is great, and the views and neighborhood would be hard to beat. The home had everything you need, from comfortable beds, furniture, appliances, pool, patio furniture, washer-dryer, gas grill, pool toys, boogie boards, snorkel gear, condiments for kitchen, & most every gadget, serving & cooking ware and item you could possibly need. This home was a treasure and Tom (the owner) was unbelievable to work with in advance and upon arrival! I highly recommend this home to anyone seeking a beautiful place to stay, relax, and enjoy your vacation to the fullest! The photos and description to not do it justice, it is so much better then you will expect!!! Thank you Tom and look forward to making it there again. Mahalo, Scott

Owner's reply: Aloha, Guest tell us the view is worth the stay here... we supply boogie boards , beach chairs as well as beach towels. 6 deck lounges for relaxing sun tans --- and three out side table with chairs . Your own gas 4 burner BBQ ( not a share - as in a condo complex.

“Wonderful place to spend your Hawaiian vacation!!”

Had a great time in Kona and half of it we attribute to the home. The girls spent the mornings and evenings in the pool... had to drag them out! We didn't even turn the TV on since we had such a lovely view to entertain us. The home has all the amenities we needed and it was nice to make breakfast at the home and bbq a few nights. The snorkel gear and pool floaties were also much appreciated by the kids. I was worried about the fact that there wasn't air conditioning but the nights were cool and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner's reply: Two of our bedrooms do have AC - great 4 naps & babies, No central air, but at a cool 80 stories above sea level , the nights are cool - even summer time when this family was visiting. fresh ocean breeze all day. Imagine a10 mile shoreline sunset view from this high above sea level. We supply boogie boards, beach chairs and beach towels. Gas BBQ - just 4 your use - ( unlike a share at condos - & a private pool 4U -without 30 other condo people sharing)

“Fantastic Home and View!”

Reviewed 6 May 2014

We loved this home and would highly recommend it. It was very large and clean. We loved the layout of the house and the pool was clean and great to cool off in the afternoon. The view is fantastic and we really enjoyed sitting on the lani. They have alot of different birds here and it was great watching them. Everyone was right about the supplies you do not have to buy anything but your food. Their pots and pans were like brand new and they had lots of good knifes. They even had a blender and a coffee grinder. In fact I think they had everything that you would have in your home so it made it very comfortable to stay there. I was a little concern about the cash payment but really there is nothing to worry about. Tom is great and he goes out of his way to make your vacation very comfortable. Thank you Tom for everything you have done for us. We love this place and we hope we will see you soon.

Owner's reply: We love Canadian guest as much as they love our awesome view pool home. YES Most property owners require 100% of the rent 1-2 months B4 arrival. Our Guests may pay us 60% of the amount AFTER ARRIVAL with a cashier's check or cash dollars. Spend the 1st night before you pay $$ - you will see - what shows on this add site is WHAT YOU GET. Boogie boards, gas BBQ, equipped kitchen with foil, baggies, soap, laundry detergent, free W & D. NO damage deposits, as we prefer the honor system.

A very great place to make vacation on Big Island. We were staying 9 days there and we enjoyed every day. What should I say more - it was great experience all the time. We'll come back...

Owner's reply: Were happy you enjoyed our Hibiscus home for your 9 day stay in Kona. We take pride in delivering a clean, well equipped home for their Kona stay.

“Great location, great everything”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2012

We stayed at the Hibiscus for little more than a week and enjoyed every moment, More than enough room for our group of 6, great pool and an even better view! The property is close enough to Kailua-kona centre to get there by taxi (reasonalbly priced) and far enough from it to be nice and quiet. The joude is equipped with everything you need and maybe even a bit more. We'll recommend this property to everybody that travels with a group like ours.

“Simply Awesome!”

Another great Memorial Weekend Stay! We rented this house two years ago and we came back again because we loved it the first time. It was just as great the second time around, especially since the jacuzzi was working. After a long day at the baseball field, coming home to a cool, clean pool and jacuzzi was a fantastic way to unwind and relax. Looking forward to coming back again for a kama'aina "staycation" next summer.

“Well-equipped home”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2011

Our party of 4 adults stayed 10 days at the Hibiscus House. There was plenty of room to spread out for all and would have easily accommodated another couple or even a few kids. We found it not only very well-equipped with dishes, utensils, pots and pans in the kitchen, but other essential supplies as well--paper towels, laundry soap, tissues, t-paper, basic spices, coffee filters, foil, plastic bags, etc. The house was located in a very nice and quiet neighborhood, and the lanai provided excellent viewing of the ocean and sunsets. There were beach towels, chairs, mats, and boogie boards available to take to the beach if desired. We fully used and enjoyed the pool and hottub out back. The house was clean on arrival and the washer/dryer lets you pack a lot lighter for extended stays. We would gladly return to this property in the future and recommend it to others.

“Best Place to stay in Kona”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2009

My wife and I stayed 8 days at the Hibiscus pool home. It was the best place we have ever stayed in Kona. The kitchen was well equipted, the home was clean and easy to use. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. And who and beat the view. The neighborhood was quiet with wonderful hiking trail on Walua road close by. Grocery shopping was close at hand. My highest rating for this property. We would absolutely stay there again.

WOW! Words cannot describe how wonderful our trip became once we discovered how awesome our home was for our stay there. We all felt like we had stepped out of life as we knew it, and had entered "fairytale land". Not only were we in an upscale, impressive neighborhood, but our view from the "HUGE" lanai was unbeatable at best... never had we had it so good in Hawaii (and we have been there many times)... THANKS from the bottom of our Alaskan hearts! -- Jill Rodamer, Eagle River AK

We LOVED Hibiscus! Given that one must drive to most beaches anyway, we did not find the location to be a problem and in fact greatly enjoyed the view and being in a quiet private neighborhood. It was also convenient to KTA, the best grocery store we found. It was SO helpful to have the house well stocked with the basics. We did appreciate never having to buy paper products, cleaning supplies and condiments. The beach and pool toys were well used by the little girls and the oodles of beach towels and mats came in handy. The large and well-maintained barbecue saw use almost every evening. It was breakfast by the pool and gin and tonics on the lanai. Bottom line: house was great and we will be happy to stay again and/or to recommend. -- Tom and Martha Piwonka , Ferndale WA

My children and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Hibiscus house in May. Kitchen was great, location and view awesome, pool perfect, beds pretty good,(I like softer), way better deal than our last hotel. I will never stay at a hotel again. It really was great. Many thanks again -- Barry Foster, Port McNeill BC

Staying at the Hibiscus house was better than staying at a hotel. It really was like a second home to us. The neighborhood is so peaceful; we were even greeted by two huge wild turkeys walking around the balcony. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and in your fully equipped kitchen. The pass through window is very convenient! The kids loved pretending they were at a drive through restaurant.
The entire family loved the pool! After a long day at the ball park then cooking in the kitchen, the pool the best way to unwind, relax, and get some exercise. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and you have a lot of pillows which we love. -- Much Aloha, Kelly Uyeda, Hilo HI

The kitchen supplies were excellent. We had bought a few things on the way there from the airport which we found we really did not need. Thank you for the kitchen supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, etc. That was very welcome as compared to other places we have rented. We will book again just for that type of hospitality and thoughtfulness. As for the rest, the location was perfect for our needs and the pool was excellent. We have already recommended Hibiscus to people who have asked about our trip and we will book with you again. -- Toni and Glendon Mitchell, West Jordan UT

We stayed about a week in this home with our 4 children and everyone loved the house. The beds were comfortable, The lanai swing was my personal favorite. The kids loved the pool. You were very helpful and kind from the beginning to the end. There are so many extras in this house that no other rental compared on our 3 island vacation. We felt right at home and the view was stunning. The house is set in a very nice neighborhood and we felt very relaxed. There were extras in the kitchen, laundry room, bathroom and the list goes on. Some of my family on the island came by for dinner and they were all in awe of the home. The next time I stay on the Big Island I will be renting this marvelous treasure. Thank you sooo much for the whole experience. -- The Sellers Family, Hayward CA

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus House. It was well-equipped and centrally located for us. Hope to visit again in the future. Mahalo! -Victoria Rockwell Baker City OR

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus home! The price was right on the money for our group of six considering the amenities. We had room to stretch out, a private pool and our kids liked Kua Bay and Hapuna beaches the best for boogie-boarding, so we had to drive anyway to get to the beach. The drive to Safeway and Walmart was convenient and the view from the lanai was unbeatable! The pool was perfect and the supplies abundant. With daily trips to the beach, the washer and dryer were used frequently. We lacked for nothing!!!!
I certainly hope we can stay at your rental again in the future. My elderly mom especially enjoyed being able to stay in a home. We loved taking walks in the neighborhood and soaking up the view of the shoreline. We ate breakfast every morning on the deck and enjoyed the sunset views every evening.
Thanks again! - The Gunter Family, Spring Valley CA
