Description from owner

Kahaluu Beach Holmes is a super vacation rental property within steps of the famous snorkeling area at Kahaluu Beach Park. Owner operated with a commitment to providing clean, quality, well constructed, and furnished, accommodations in Kona. A beautiful, maintained home with an ideal location and awesome view. The spacious 4400 sp ft of living space can easily accommodate groups of 17+ people.

The rental consists of the 3rd and 2nd floors of the home that are approximately 2200 sq ft each. Both have two bedrooms / two bathrooms, a full size furnished kitchen, large living room, and private lanai with beautiful ocean views. For larger groups each level has a comfortable queen size futon with a 'real' mattress, a queen size sofa sleeper, the 2nd floor has an additional queen size Murphy bed. This allows beds for 16 and the last one gets the regular sofa sleeper! Each floor has a private entrance as well as a comfortable indoor split level stairway that joins them.

The house is fully furnished, there is great off street parking, laundry, WIFI, cable, and the view from the top floor is unmatched. Unquestionably one of the best vacation rentals in the area.

We are located 300 feet (an easy walk down the driveway) from Kahaluu Beach! Undoubtedly one of the best snorkeling spots on the Big Island. Fed by a fresh water spring, up to 10 million gallons per day. These waters are almost always calm, with colorful corals, rock formations, and 100+ species of fish. Swim with huge schools of colorful fish and green sea turtles in these protected waters; don't forget your underwater camera!

The north end of the beach is where the waves break and is best for body boarding and surfing. The local surf instructors give lessons there on a regular basis. Kahaluu is well loved because of the calm, protected waters - perfect for families and kids as well as the adventurous wave seeker. Shady trees surround this beautiful sandy beach. Facilities include a pavilion, rest rooms, showers, a lifeguard tower. Concession stands, surf school and beach gear rental.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Spent Spring break with my daughter, grandchildren and another family from the neighborhood in Redmond WA, at Steve's home in Kailua-Kona and had the most amazing time. The house has a great floor plan which works perfectly for 2 families. The large rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable, the kitchen had plenty of equipment to cook and eat our meals at the house, the evenings were wonderful out on the lanai. Being across the road from the best snorkeling beach I've ever been to was magnificent, it was like swimming in an aquarium. Steve was so accommodating, and very generous with his fig trees! We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

It was the easiest and most comfortable place we could have found. Being from Hawaii you don't always look at rentals from a tourist perspective. This place was clean and an awesome view, easy access to the beaches and yet it gave you some personal space. Much mahalos to Steve who took good care of us.

Our family of 11, ages 10 through 69, recently spent spring break at Kahaluu Beach Holmes. We had researched carefully to find just the right house and right location. But what you can't appreciate online is the charisma that you are sometimes lucky enough to happen upon. Speaking from my persective, (that of being grandma, one of the 69 year olds, and trip coordinator), our stay could not have been better. The house was spacious, comfortable, well-appointed, and came equipped with a view to die for. Daughter and family enjoyed the second level, while son and family and grandpa and grandma enjoyed the third level. The levels were conveniently connected with an inside stairway. Dinners were on our third level lanai watching glorious sunsets and "talking story". The house also came equipped with a most gracious host in Steve. We looked forward to greeting him each morning and enjoyed listening to his daily outdoor visits with friend Alan.....reminiscent of "Tuesdays with Morrie". A trip we planned a year ago far exceeded our expectations. Without a doubt, very blessed family time and memories to cherish forever.

Great home for a large group. We were 11 in total with 2 couples and 7 teenagers/young adults, on two floors of living space. Great snorkeling spot across the street. And Ali'i Drive is a busy shopping strip for those who enjoy the shopping scene. Great luau down the street at the Royal Kona Resort. More beach equipment can be rented out at affordable prices closeby. We really enjoyed Steve's presence, availability and accomodating nature. He was always around to answer our questions and to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy his home.
