Description from owner

There is a 30-night minimum stay required at Alii Cove. You may stay fewer nights, but we must block off 30 nights for each reservation.

Our condo has the perfect location in Kailua-Kona. You can walk to the heart of town in about five minutes or you can simply cross the street and catch a wave at Honl's Beach. Or you can stay at home and enjoy world-famous Kona sunsets from the lanai every evening and whale watching during the winter.

Alii Cove is the newest condo complex in Kona and the closest one to town. The complex is gated and beautifully landscaped. You'll have the use of a resort-style pool and spa, fitness room, and BarBQ/picnic area. There are 4-unit and 6-unit buildings scattered throughout the site. Alii Cove doesn't feel like a cement monolith, as some other condos do.

This particular unit is special because it is at the top of the complex where the panoramic views are the best. You're also away from the street noise on Alii Drive. This condo's gorgeous new tropical furnishings will never let you forget that you that you are indeed in Paradise.

This is a big unit...1377 square feet, including lanai.

We love the layout. You enter on the second story of the building and find yourself face-to-face with the ocean view and the ocean breeze. The bedrooms, baths, and kitchen are on that level. There is a huge loft upstairs that has an ocean view from the front and a mountain view from the back.

This condo comes with EVERYTHING. The gourmet kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans, utensils, plates, glassware...you name it. There's a blender, coffee pot, toaster, ironing board and iron, hair dryer, beach towels, picnic cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrella, flat-screen TV, and a washer/dryer right in the unit. All linens, including beach towels, are provided.

Dine at the kitchen table, at the granite breakfast bar, at a bistro table in the master or in the loft, or on the lanai where you can watch the sunset and see the cruise ships come into port.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and oceanview sitting area. The attached bathroom has a tile shower and double sinks.

The guest bedroom also has a queen bed. Both bedrooms have lots of storage space. You'll have plenty of room to stow your suitcases out of sight.

The loft upstairs has a queen bed, bistro table, and reading area. A balcony overlooks the living room.

This unit comes with a parking space that is right outside the unit. Unlike a lot of other units at Alii Cove, the parking lot and the building are on the same level; no need to climb steps to get from your car to the building. That makes for easy loading and unloading.

Another great benefit of this unit is that guests can park short-term on nearby Walua Road. So, there are no worries about parking if you have a party.

The complex has a gorgeous oceanview, salt water, resort-style pool with adjoining kids' pool. The fitness center, super relaxing jacuzzi, and BarBQ/ picnic area are near the pool.

There is a 30-night minimum stay required at Alii Cove. You may stay fewer nights, but we must block off 30 nights for each reservation.

We are new to VacationHomeRentals, so we don't have any reviews yet. However, we have a long-time listing on another vacation home rental site you may know. There, we have a 5-star-rating and lots of reviews. Here's what a recent reviewer had to say:

"Highly recommend this Condo. It is spacious, very clean, super comfortable, with heaps of pantry / bathroom extras in a lovely secured property, so close to town a car is not essential. The views out to the ocean are lovely as are the sunsets, and many good nights were spent playing cards around the cute little games table. We have respect for other peoples places and had our own "In house rule" of no food or drinks on carpet flooring and hope others are like minded. Being near the non busy Walua Road has benefits of no traffic noise. Nancy the owner is lovely to deal with and very accommodating. Keep in mind it is on 2nd floor if stairs are an issue. Stayed as a family for Ironman 2015 and this place was a blessing compared to 1 of the 2 Condos we had to book a little further out of town the previous year. Oh love Kona "Mahalo""

About the area

Everything (restaurants, bars, shipping, water activities, beaches) is within walking distance from the condo. But the immediate neighborhood is residential and quiet. Most people live here all the time. The condo is right on the edge of town. In less than 5 minutes you can walk to some wonderful restaurants. We love the Royal Kona Resort, which has beautiful oceanside dining at Don the BeachComber. The Royal Kona also hosts one of the 2 major luaus in town. The other luau is at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel at the other end of town. It's about a 20 minute walk. The Kailua Pier juts out right in front of the King Kamehameha. When we are in town we walk there from the condo every morning. The water is so clear you feel like you are peering into a marine aquarium. The fish are right there. Between these two hotels are many shops and restaurants, the famous Farmer's Market (open 6 days; buy 4 papayas for $5), the public library, and churches (both historic and new) . Don't miss the old and elegant Kona Inn. It's a wonderful restaurant now with a grand history as a hotel. You'll see the vintage black and white pictures inside that show how sea planes from Oahu used to arrive there. They have a fabulous calamari sandwich. The pier is also the pick-up point for parasailing, diving, snorkeling, and the glass bottom boat (it has a fun sunset dinner cruise). Just walk there and back. Don's, Huggo's, Bongo's, the Kona Inn, Honu's, Fish Hopper, Canoe Club, Lava Java, Outback, and many many more.

Getting around

Transportation is nearby if you want to venture beyond walking distance. There is a Hono Express shuttle that goes to many key places in the area. It costs $2 per ride. There is also a public bus, Hele-On. Once a day you can go all the way around the island to Hilo. It's amazing. Of course, shorter trips in the area are a lot more frequent.
