Description of the Kailua-Kona vacation home rental
We call our home the Bamboo House. The home has two separate suites, each having private lanai, and private bathroom with king size beds. The house is 2700 sq-ft and each bedroom is very large with new carpeting. Each has its own TV with ceiling fans. The living room has 18 foot ceiling with 4 ceiling fans and wall to wall sliding doors that open the house onto the pool lanai that wraps around the exterior and provides cool shade and a great place for dining with ocean view.
The kitchen has koa wood cabinets and all the kitchen ware needed for entertaining. We provide as much condiments as most people need.

The house is located at 500 feet elevation with cool breezes. This is important because the beach level rentals can be oppressively hot with little breeze.

There is a two car garage, but we keep our car on one side. There is plenty of parking in driveway as well.

There is a small shopping center a short drive from our community with theater, drug store, market, restaurants, and fast food. Our gated community provides security and quiet neighborhood.

Directly below our house is a newly opened Keauhou golf course on the ocean, Holua
tennis courts, and a wonderful ocean view restaurant that is reasonably priced.
Area Information
The home is at the south end of Kailua-Kona (Keauhou Resort) just above a snorkel beach and golf course. Keauhou bay has kyak rental and whale/ dolphin tours to Kamahameha bay where Captain Cook landed and discovered Hawaii for europeans.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
If you haven't been to the Big Island before, the volcano is a must. Its 92 miles to the south. We are on the dry side of the island and often get evening rains to cool off our home. The ocean is peaceful and great for snorkeling because we have no rivers on the west side, therefore the water is gin clear.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

We absolutely loved our stay at Bamboo House for so many reasons. We have stayed in a number of homes over the years and this was by far the finest. This is a well thought out custom home with designer touches in every room, from the turtle mosaic entry, to the koa wood floors and kitchen cabinetry, to the bamboo woodwork and glass etching in almost every room, to....I could go on and on (beam ceilings, windows that frame the ocean and garden views, outstanding landscaping, the shower room for two, mosaic of fish and dolphins in the pool to name a few.) There is artistry in the design of this home that is hard to find. The way the house is situated on the lot takes advantage of views and privacy at the same time. The tropical furnishings were lovely as well. This home has everything anyone would need to enjoy a few days, or a few months in paradise. We celebrated our 5th anniversary here and had the house to ourselves. This home would be ideal for two couples as well, as the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house. This was our first visit to Kona, and we found the location to be ideal - very close to town yet felt far removed. One of the best snorkeling beaches in Hawaii is 5 minutes away. We used the guidebook provided by the owners to find the best beaches and it saved us a lot of time. The neighborhood is gated and it is wonderful for morning and evening strolls with views all around. The home was immaculate, well stocked, and there was nothing lacking. Thank you Gerry and Mary Lou. Great effort was put into designing this home, and the same effort has been extended to make sure your guests have everything they need. There should be a 6 star rating for this home - outstanding!

We stayed at the Bamboo House while on our honeymoon in Hawaii. The house is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. We were so glad after being there that we decided not to stay at a hotel or resort. The privacy, location, view and the pool made it the perfect place to be. Thank you Gerry and Mary Lou for making our first visit to Hawaii such an excellent trip.

Couples Retreat
This house was clean and perfect for 2 couples, friends living in different states, meeting for a week vacation. There was ample space for us to work as needed remotely as well as supplied with all the necessities for day trips away or hanging out by the pool and cooking meals. We would definitely consider another stay at this house.

Awesome Place
We stayed with another couple for over a week and the place was as advertised. Great to have the beach chairs, umbrella and cooler as well as access to the garage. Very quiet neighbourhood. Awesome sunsets from the patio and pool. The house was well outfitted with everything you would need for a great stay.

My wife and I are very familiar with Kona, having owned a condo there for years. We decided upon a house for this trip because we were staying a full month, and selected Bamboo House from the site and from referral from local friends who had others stay there.
It was everything advertised and more. The house and property are beautiful, well maintained, and "fully fitted" with everything down to spices in the kitchen.
The Keahou area is close to the bay, snorkel beach, and a short drive to town.
we had a marvelous month in Kona, and did everything we wanted to, using Bamboo House as our "home base", in a secure, gated community.
We will definitely return!!!

Really enjoyed your home. Nice having the two master bedrooms as we were two couples staying. Although we had rainy weather, we still enjoyed the covered lanai, and the view of the ocean! We felt very safe in the gated community, and even met some of the other residents! They were all very friendly! Would definitely return to Bamboo House!

Our friends and my husband and I enjoyed our week at house. It is in a beautiful area and close to activities and town. The house was clean and decorated nicely. We enjoyed fresh fish from local market and steaks from costco. Meals at house were very relaxing. I can t wait to go back. Should have stayed a little longer. Thank you so much.
