Description of the Kailua-Kona vacation condo rental
Kona Bali Kai Condominium Complex unit #308 vacation rental is a true oceanfront condo only 30' from the waters edge and is on the Big Island of Hawaii. It has a stunning view and the master bedroom has 8' floor to ceiling windows with a full ocean view. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves, and when a big wave come in and you are sitting on the lanai, you can feel the ocean spray.

If I don't have your dates in this condo, check out my listing for unit 204 or give me a call. It is identical to this unit but on the 2nd floor with the same 180 degree view, large lanai etc.

A second bedroom with a queen bed is available in this unit for an additional charge of $10 night per person. Ask for more details.

Many of my guests have seen dolphins and whales right from the lanai and for sure you will see the resident green sea turtles that eat and sun themselves on the beach daily. Next door is a local surfing beach and surfers, kayakers and long boarders are navigating the waves while you watch. Often local fishermen are throwing their nets right in front of you. So much to watch from the lanai that guests tell me it is hard to leave the condo to explore the island.

The condo complex is only 15 miles from the airport. It is 2.5 miles south of the town of Kona and 2.5 miles north of the Keauhou Shopping Center. A wonderful swimming and snorkeling beach Kahaluu Beach is only 2 miles south of the condo. Onsite is Miller’s Snorkel and Surf Shop a rental place for good gear and also on-site is a take-out local restaurant called the Poke Shake voted number one in the nation by Yelp reviewers.

The master bedroom has 8 foot floor to ceiling windows out to the view. You can leave the large sliders open at night and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. It has a comfortable king bed, fan above the bed and separate bath with tub and shower. The second bedroom is not closed off and can be used for storage of bags etc. There is an additional charge if there are more than 2 guests.

The kitchen is fully equipped with full size appliances and dishes and utensils to cook a full meal to enjoy on the lanai. Lovely time when the sun is setting. For your convenience there is a washer and dryer in the unit which makes it possible to pack less clothing. There is free wireless internet in the unit and a phone with free long distance to the US and Canada.

The complex has a pool, Jacuzzi, and plenty of free covered parking which is well lit at night and close to the elevator or stairs. There is air conditioning in the window of the master bedroom which cools the bedroom and with large sliding doors to open to the living room can cool that also. Although because of the temperate climate of Kona it is used very infrequently. Kona’s average temperature of 84 degrees means it is never too hot and NEVER too cold!

Experienced surfers can boogie board or surf at Banyan Beach next door. For those with less experience, there is a good beach for both about a mile south of the condo. There are many wonderful Kona beaches to explore. From a live volcano with flowing lava to snow capped mountains - you will never be bored for something to do on the Big Island.

Area Information
This complex is directly on the famous Alii Drive which winds it's way along the edge of the Pacific ocean. Many people walk Alii drive in the mornings when it is cool. There is an outdoor market only 1/4 of a mile from the complex which is fun to walk to. Banyan Market is right across the street for those small items or drinks (alcohol included) that you forgot while shopping at the grocery stores which are about 2 miles away. There is also Miller's Surf Shop in the complex for all your gear that you need for fun water sports like snorkeling, surfing, boogie boards, altho you may find boogie boards in the condo left by past guests so check there first.

There is so much to do on the Big Island you will need to plan each day. Getting to Hilo and the Hawaii Botanical Gardens (not to be missed) is about 1.5 miles away over Saddle Road which has been greatly improved since it was used by the military. The volcano is 2-3 hour drive away and should be on your list for a full days trip. Also heading to Hawi up north where the air is soft and cool and everything is green! Take a ride on the Flumin' the Kohala - a system of waterway they built long time ago to get water to the cane fields. Get in a kayak and travel the ditch and get lots of history from the leader. So much fun.

There is so much to do on The Big Island and all of it can be done from the condo. Some a shorter day and some will be an all day trip. There is a concierge on site and check with them first thing and they can help you decide what would be fun to do and what fits into your budget.

Get ready for a trip of a lifetime. Guest tell me it is hard to leave the condo because there is so much to watch and see, but they do and have lots of stories to tell. I have a guest book in the condo that you can see what other guests have done and enjoyed and not enjoyed.

Look forward to hearing from you. Let's get you booked now!

Great Kona Condo: Stunning Waterfront & Location

July 23, 2016

I stayed in this perfect Kona condo for two weeks, with two of my best friends during May. I have stayed in this condo twice before, since it's my favorite place to stay on the Big Island. The condo is perfectly suited to visit the best of the island. The lanai looks right out over the waves, local surfers and a great sea turtle spot--it's the perfect spot for daily happy hour. It's just up the road from good snorkeling and also Magic Sands beach. Very convenient to head out for an easy, quick morning snorkel nearby. Other favorite things: I love that this condo is homey and well-stocked with everything you might need including cookware, dishes, even a cooler and some beach items in the spare closet. It's not too fancy and over-priced, but well-maintained, comfortable and very homey so it's very easy to relax there. The owner is very easy to work with, and she's very responsive and thoughtful if you have any questions or concerns. I don't hesitate at all to book there, and will return for any visit to the Big Island! Also good to know: this island is, in particular, great for all kinds of diverse activities. Beaches, snorkeling, volcano, astronomical observatory, lots of little towns, coffee farms and lots to explore. It's a very laid back, easy place to have a great vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do guest find that is the most fun to do at the condo?
A: Sit on the lanai and watch the birds, green sea turtles, surfers, dolphins and whales. Also eating dinner on the lanai and watching the Kona sunset is often stunning. I make a point to never miss one.
Q: What makes this condo special?
A: You feel like you are stepping into my home everything provided except for some clothes and food. Everything is there to brew that cup of coffee in the morning (you must provide only the coffee) so you can wake up to the ocean full of life and I can assure you the surfers will already be there to watch. I make a point to have many things provided that are not normally in a rental: laundry detergent, soap, TP, paper towels, dish soap, and much more. (If staying for a longer time guests may need to purchase additional TP and paper towels.)
Q: What is the coolest nearby activity?
A: Rent your snorkeling gear for a week down at the Miller's Surf Shop in the complex and head to Kahaluu Beach Park (2 miles south on Alii Drive) for some great snorkeling where you are sure to swim with turtles and many tropical fish.

Q: Do I have to stay overnight in Hilo or near the volcano to see them? Or can I stay and the condo and do a day trip?
A: Yes - make this a day trip. You do not need to stay overnight there. It is about 1.5 hours to Hilo and 2-3 hours to the volcano. Be sure to call the Volcano information phone number to get the latest update as the lava flow changes every day. At present, Kilauea volcano is still having one of the most long-lived eruptions known on earth, which started in 1983 on the eastern rift zone and has mainly been concentrated at the Pu'u 'O'o vent. Call: Unable to post a # here but you can search online for: HAWAIIAN VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
Q: If I don't find an answer to my question here, where can I go?
A: Call me at the number listed for my condo. It won't let me post a # here.
