Description of the Kapoho vacation home rental
Our Big Island home, near Pahoa Hawaii, is a unique, custom-built round, house located in a clearing at the top of a long approach hill, on ten acres of completely secluded rain forest. It is completely private and in a very relaxed setting. The house is solar powered and equipped with all modern comforts and appliances. It has a spacious 500 sq ft.+ bedroom with a queen sized bed with adjoining private bath and the same queen sized bed in a smaller second bedroom upstairs with a full bath on the same floor. Both are very private. Upstairs floor features huge kitchen, living room, with 3 sets of french doors that open onto a huge outdoor living room/ lanai/ dining room for a breakfastt lunch or dinner indoors or out as you choose. Lots of room. The open-plan design works for families, or a small group of friends , or for just two people. There is lots of art in our home, which is used just for our guests, friends or exchangers, and it is beautifully, comfortably and completely furnished for your use during your stay. Our nearby caretaker is readily available if needed.. There is great queen sized futon with inner spring mattress of great quality in the great room for a third sleeper or couple.

Our home has a wraparound staircase from one floor to next so you should be comfortable with stairs. Also 2nd bedroom is located on upper floor, off the indoor outdoor deck with it's own private entrance and both may be independently locked by you for security. The guest or guests in the upstairs smaller tree house room should be prepared to walk 25 -30 feet since the bathroom is not immediately adjoining the bedroom as it I in the lower level master bath. Ideal to sleep 4 the house has bed sleeping for 6 easily as there is a great queen bed in the shared great room also beside a master bath). Most of our guests find this perfectly easy, but we like to be sure you know the top floor bedroom and great room bed and full bath are not joined directly together

The house will be beautifully prepared for you, and all ready for your tropical stay. Cleanliness is a most important part of your guest experience. Our home is equipped with washer and dryer.

The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped for dining and cooking, as I love to cook and when we vacation there ourselves and I always shop and cook locally, with fresh ingredients from nearby including our own home grown fruits and spices..

We provide directions to our guests for doing the same locally, including all the special, nearby "farmers markets," plus info. on favorite places to dine nearby. Our open-style home has no need for AC, just the beautiful Trade winds and sea breezes that blow up the hill, gently, and throughout the house, though we have ceiling fans too. The keynote here is "comfort first" even though all furnishings are artistic and appealing. Bring a book to enjoy in the hammock! This is pure relaxation, which we all need, and love!

Nature trails abound and even hikes to an active volcanic flow you can view fairly closely, as well as Volcano National Park, just 14 miles away. coral reef snorkeling, black sand beaches.and ocean swimming, even huge tropical thermal pond next to ocean surf only two miles from us,, easy access to nightly observatory viewing from Mauna Kea, ( the great mountain often snow covered in winter) and visible from our home. These many other great island attractions are so close; all makes this an ideal getaway for leisure or adventure travellers.

Area Information
Ours is a rural location close to major attractions. The town of Pahoa, 2 miles away, is a charming sleepy, historic "Sugar Cane Railroad Village" that is still most like "Old Hawaii," not touristed as many such places are in the Islands. But nonetheless, Pahoa has arguably the greatest concentration of excellent small restaurants on the Big Island.
Our house is only 15 minutes from a large natural, lava rock, warm thermal pool and several other such small pools for delicious swimming, next to the Pacific Ocean. Ocean swimming and surfing is located only 20 minutes away by car. Also, great coral reef snorkeling. Located only one hour from Volcanoes National Park and not far from the mostly continuous active eruption of lava (which can also be viewed by helicopter or boat tour.) Two hours from Mauna Kea (year round snow) and home to many of the world's greatest observatories where you find a Star Gazing Visitors' Center for nocturnal adventures, and for amazing sunsets.
Our home is gated, and is special also for what you will not see. You will probably see no one at all during your stay, unless you want to. However we do have a wonderful massage therapist on call for you , so just check for his number on his flyer on the many materials we furnish for your use, and for your ease in finding the best of everything. We have GREAT internet, also
The sun rises on one side of the property and sets on the other, with Hawaiian birdsongs at dawn and dusk. We have beautiful, territorial and Mauna Kea views and inestimable peace for our visitors. You will need a rental car, but a four wheel drive vehicle is not necessary, and there are no parking problems anywhere here.
