“Great time, but not as advertised.”
We really enjoyed our stay, however the cottage that we rented did not match the pictures or description. There was a bed in the master bedroom, bunk beds in the second bedroom, but there was not a futon in the living room. We ended up having to borrow a cot for our third child. The cottage was beautiful and the lake great. Some repair work is need to parts of the cottage.
The cottage was exactly as described in the advert. However, the instructions that were sent to us (contract etc) were incorrect. There is not a large sign indicating the entrance to the cottages, as indicated in the instructions, which made our arrival very tricky as we arrived late at night. We were looking to use the row boat, but saw no life jackets (again as indicated in contract) so were unable to use it. Pity as we had life jackets at home. Bring a hair dryer as there is not one in the cottage. The kitchen was ample, and we were able to have a substantial meal but the addition of a dishwasher would be ideal as previous guests did not leave the dishes super clean leaving us to have to clean them before using. There were a few items to keep us going (shampoo, shower gel etc) which was welcomed as we didnt bring these items. Bought them the day after (plus a hairdryer) so all was good. The bath is awesome, but more luxurious towels would be great. Newer bedding would be nice too. The sofa bed looked a bit tired and could do with recovering/replacing. The owner is easy to get a hold of. There is a small tv in the bedroom downstairs which takes VCR tapes, but a DVD player with some DVD's would be a great addition, and pretty standard in most places. Awesome, that the property is pet friendly with prior approval. Nice and quiet and away from the main hub of Kelowna.
Owner's reply: Thank you Lindsey for the feedback. The old sign was taken down and is being replaced. Life jackets use to be provided but ended up disappearing by the end of the season. I will take that out of the information provided. It is the end of our season and time for updating some of the linens and furniture. Thank you again for your input and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to The Cottages at Secret Point.
“Great Location with a Stunning View!”
It was a well equipped kitchen but would be better with a stove. Sleeping accommodations provided 2 nice bedrooms/ futon and sofa bed. The mattresses could be improved significantly. A storage area by the dock would be handy to have access to. Having direct lake access and having the ability to moor the boat during our stay was great! The view from our deck was really nice and peaceful. Overall, the place was nice and very clean!
Owner's reply: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The cottage does have a full stove with oven and a barbecue. Futon matresses are not comfy at the best of time I agree but they are just if there are more than 4 guests and usually for kids. A temporary storage bin down by the lake might be nice but it is hard making sure things don't disappear at the cottage.
“Was fine, a bit remote.”
The cottage is right on the lake, and will sleep a number of people. It is much more remote than I had believed, taking a full 25 minutes of two lane twisted narrow road driving, covered in deer. So, beautiful, and fun to drive, but you would not want to be visiting the wineries and driving back to the cottage! Other than that, lovely spot. Nice and quiet and quite deserted.
“it was ok”
Nice place, water was nice, biggest downfall was lack of A/C in the cabin, and the lack of private master bedroom was a bit of a downer. some of the other renters were taking part in some really dumb activities like shooting off fireworks towards the cabins in the middle of the night, with a province wide fireban in place because it was sooo dry. Overall we had a good time and would consider going back.
“Such a quiet, beautiful and cozy place to stay”
20 min from Kelowna ... we had such a great time at the the cottage ... the place is quiet, clean and the view from the balconies is beautiful ... I do recommend the place ... just one suggestion, the bbq area downstairs could be a bit better, nicer chairs, find the way to make more space .. that would be a big plus ;)
Accommodation is great, very relaxing setting. Downside limited kitchen and a 25 minute drive to Kelowna, otherwise a great place for boating and swimming

"A cabin oasis!"
Cabin #12 at Secret Cove is super charming. Our cabin was clean and very tastefully decorated with all the amenities that you would ever need. A flat screen cable TV with a DVD player, high speed internet, washer and dryer, full kitchen and last but not least, a lovely stone deck with a BBQ on one level and then down more steps to a fire-pit & patio table with deck chairs then just few more steps to the lakes edge and dock where you can dock your boat. This place is great for families with children of all ages! P.S. Patricia Livingstone was very helpful, kind and easy to get a hold of. Thanks again!
