Description of the Kihei vacation home rental
Plantation Bungalows Maui is a beautiful fully furnished historic plantation-style home with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom, complete with claw-foot tub and shower. An additional 4th bedroom ensuite provides extra privacy and space. This large airy suite of over 400 sq. ft. has a comfortable sitting area and its own bathroom.

The home is available for long term rental, contact owner. The kitchen and laundry rooms were just renovated offering beautiful and very usable spaces! And of course, we have wi-fi on the property. The property is about 12 houses from a nice neighborhood beach and about 1/2 mile to the closest public beach park with facilities.

The property also includes a "beach" bathroom with shower. This bathroom is common to the house and cottage.

Tax at 4.167% to be added to final invoice.

Amenities include 4 bikes, beach chairs, boogie boards and snorkel gear.

Maui's beautiful beaches, parks, restaurants, and shopping are just minutes away from this central location. The home has a front-yard patio, BBQ, and shady dining for six. The center courtyard has an additional BBQ and dining for six or more under the umbrella. Linger in the courtyard or enjoy the hot tub, relaxing in a private setting surrounded by lush mature palms and tropical plants with a large Royal Poinciana tree towering overhead.

South Maui is known for having a string of the most beautiful beaches anywhere and our property is just a short ½ mile to the first of the public beaches with facilities. There is a small private beach about 12 houses from the property. The ocean floor in this area is a bit littered with small broken bits of coral so the keep that in mind. Your choice of beach can be affected by the kinds of conditions you are looking for be it snorkeling, swimming or just hanging out on the beach.

A great stay!

November 29, 2016

Positives: This lovely old home was full of charm, and thoughtful comforts like beach supplies--we borrowed the beach towels, a cooler, beach chairs, a snorkel mask and the kayak. Also enjoyed the BBQ, hot tub, and dining on the patio. The location is close to the main roads, but actually private and usually quiet. The well-kept yard had a lawn for kids to run, flowering trees and we were pleased to have a visiting rooster and many lizards. The outdoor beach bath house was convenient to keep sand out of the house and the large basin outside was great for rinsing our snorkel gear and beach shoes. The large kitchen was stocked with lots of cooking/serving utensils/dishes/pots, but we were disappointed to have to buy basic salt and oil with our groceries (nothing left from previous renters). I could not tell from the online photos much about the living room, so I should confirm that our group of 6 could all relax together and watch TV. The A/C unit is in the dining area and with the fans in the bedrooms, had no problems on 80+ degree days. The house is spacious and we all decided it was more relaxing than a hotel stay (we stayed at the nice Hyatt Regency 2 days before coming home, but we were much fonder of this house). Also we took an outrigger canoe trip with Jacob whose name & number is listed on the fridge, to see turtles, which our whole family (ages 8 to 76) loved! Negatives: mixup about our arrival date meant the cleaning staff needed to finish for a few hours while we waited. Also, there was a pest control visit one morning, but when we spoke to the man about chemicals and we asked for no spraying indoors, the house's manager kindly agreed. Overall, we had a great stay!

Owner's reply:

Glad to know you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the mix up on the arrival cleaning.

We simply loved our stay at Plantation Bungalow. We stayed in the large home on the property with 2 couples and 1 eight year old. The home is beautiful, comfortable and has a great working kitchen. The private front lawn was gorgeous and the shared side yard with garage had everything you could possibly need. There were plenty of towels, bed linens, snorkel gear, body boards, kayak, washer/dryer, grill, and everything you need to prepare a quick breakfast or a more involved dinner in the kitchen. We look forward to returning with our family and renting all of the space. Thank you!!

Owner's reply:

So glad you enjoyed your stay! We strive to provide a perfect setting your vacation experience and your positive review confirms our efforts to keep this place special! Hope to see you again!

We spent a much needed vacation during Thanksgiving 2014 with my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, daughter and her boyfriend for 10 wonderful days. The house was as perfect as described, wonderful for a large family. We loved spending time on the front porch. The beach is a block away, just perfect for watching the sunrise or sunsets. We loved the using all of the "toys" and so happy that we were able to meet the owner. Thank you once again from the entire Kostick Family!

Owner's reply:

I'm so glad you enjoyed the house! Come back again sometime and help us spread the word about the property! Mahalo for choosing the Plantation Bungalows!

We chose to spend 10 days at this wonderful family-friendly property. All adults; 7 in total. A reunuion of sorts. The Plantation style made us all feel at home. Mama and Papa chose the studio but came together in the house kitchen, lounges and verandah.Good solid feel with amenities but not over-the-top. Park, beaches and shops within walking distance. A rental car is a good idea so that the full beauty of the island of Maui can be explored. We would all love to stay here again.

Owner's reply:

Thanks for staying with us and share our place with your friends! We hope to see you on your next trip to Maui.

If you're looking for a place to stay, then stop, because you've found it. There are three different choices (depending on how much you want to spend) and each are amazing from the looks. We stayed in the Studio, which was the smallest and were very sad to have to leave. The owners are excellent and offer you a lot for you money. You are close to the beaches, but not in the middle of all of the other vacationers. It's cozy and sweet there. We look forward to our return some point in the future, because there is no where better to stay on the island. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could.

Kristin Holmes

Owner's reply:

Yeah! It always makes me smile when I learn how much guests love and appreciate our promptly! Mahalo and we hope we will be on your return list!

Spent all of March at this property and enjoyed everyday. Priced right and met every need we had. Owners very accomodating and cared about our comfort and needs. Any item that needed attention, very few, were cared for immediately. Kristin and Kim manage and care for the property well. If you need anything it is available on the property to make your vacation enjoyable. We are back again next year.

Owner's reply:

Aloha,
Thank you and thanks for choosing the Plantation Bungalow on Maui and we look forward to seeing you here next March!

Thanks for making this place available to us! It was affordable but elegant. We had access to a washing machine and dryer. We loved having a stove and access to the barbeque. There was a lot of little touches they added inside and out. There was a lot of privacy when on the patio and cottage. A million Thank You's. We can't wait to come back we want to bring our kids!

After travelling to Florida & San Francisco visiting family with my boyfriend Christian. There's no place else but to relax at Steve & Toni's cottage we stayed there for 10 days. Its been the best experiencing holiday of a lifetime for both of us. The cottage was well equiped couldnt have asked for anything else. We loved having breakfast on the patio and listening to birds & gecko's. After been out all day we loved to chill in the courtyard with the lights dim when it was dark in the night time and have a BBq. We both will be coming back and sharing our experience with family and friends.

We had the best experience at Steve and Tonia's house. The pictures do not do this wonderful home justice. We loved enjoying the patio every morning and the grill and hot tub in the evening.

We have no way to ask for any improvement, as we don't believe there could be any. Our concern had been "too much contact with the hosts" and much to our relief, we were warmly welcomed,... and then left alone, with the promise of help if any were needed. Thank you for the use of all of the supplies, ie: mats, beach umbrella, coolers, snorkle gear, beach towels, beach chairs, etc, etc, etc. The decor of the cottage was absolutely beautiful and warm. We will be back! Thank you Steve and Tonia Rich and Heidi Troup

We loved the cottage! The Baneys were the best hosts we could of ever imagined. We were enjoying our honeymoon and ran into some problems (getting our rental car broken into on Hana Highway and having left everything in our car like the brainless love birds we were) ended up on the Baneys porch in tears. Steve went to the bank and forwarded up some money to hold us over until we got everything straightened out with our banks. The Baneys went to extra mile for us at every turn - which we were and are so appreciative for! Dispite our catastrophy, we had a beautiful honeymoon. The cottage and courtyard are so much more beautiful in person and the tropical fragrance when you walk out the cottage is breathtaking. Everything you could possible need is provided at no additional fee, it is the perfect home away from home! And was more private then we had anticipated too! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

"After spending a week in the condo/resort setting, it was pure delight to come to the peaceful private setting offered by the Baney studio! Absolutely nothing was lacking.
We especially enjoyed the P'olenalena Beach-we saw a school of dolphins close enough to shore for those in the water to swim with them. Also witnessed a wedding on this beach. See you next year!"

"After a hectic few weeks in Vancouver, it was great to come here to relax and decompress. We didn't do too much this visit but we are already planning our next trip! Talk about all the conveniences of home-my kitchen isn't this well stocked with tools and appliances! This is a wonderful clean and charming place to stay. For our own selfish reasons of course, we hope more people don't find out about you and these beautiful oasis in the midst of condo crazy Kihei.
We hope to see you again soon, Toni and Steve and thanks again for everything.

Better than we expected! Had everything we needed and then some. Very friendly and laid back and sincere were Steve and Tonia. Extremely reasonable rates. Snorkeling was the best and jumping off rocks at Changs pond on Hana Hwy. was very exciting. The banana bread in Haiku was amazing. Can't wait to come back to Hawaii.

Our stay in the studio cottage was delightful. The cottage is bright and airy with magnificent view of Haleakala in the morning. It offers all of the expected amenities and so much more that were unexpected. The Baneys are wonderful hosts and just nice people to get to know. The courtyard is peaceful and pretty. The extras that we used were the great gas grill, the bogie boards and the cooler.

Just to prove that I am not a member of the family, I will admit that the lack of a freezer in the kitchen was annoying since I could not keep ice cream on hand.

But without a doubt, I can heartily recommend the accommodations to anyone who favors serenity and wonderful on-site hosts.

-Ed Mathay

Homeowner Response:
We have found a fridge with a freezer which will fit iinto the space so that Ed can have his ice cream next time he and his wife return!

05/16/2005 We had a wonderful stay here! The room was beautiful and well appointed. Everything looks much better in person! The owners were so helpful and accommodating! 03/20/2005 We absolutely loved our visit to Maui. We spent our first week at your lovely studio cottage. It was so comfortable and cozy with all the amenities of home. We loved having our morning coffee out on the Lanai as well as our afternoon margarita, after a day of diving or playing on the beach. The location is ideal for the boat ramp and all the wonderful beaches nearby.Kihei has many good restaurants or you can make your own on the grill provided on the courtyard. We definitely recommend a stay at the courtyard cottages next time you visit Maui. Jackie and Bob
