“Lovely Split-Level - Stunning Views”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

This split-level hillside home has stunning views, an orchard, pool and kitchen garden. The caretaker provided baskets of citrus fruit from the orchard (sweetest grapefruit ever) and invited us to make use of the kitchen garden. I harvested a beet and roasted it for salad and sautéed the greens with eggs for lunch. We snipped kale and lettuce to add to our salad as well as basil for bruschetta. Although the kitchen lacked some of the appliances and tools I am accustomed to seeing in Hawaii rentals (e.g., rice cooker), this rental had other useful appliances, such as a citrus juicer and regular juicer. We used the grill a lot. Beach gear is provided, as well as games and Hawaiian music CDs for easy listening. It is in a quiet neighborhood at the base of Haleakala overlooking Kihei. Only small downsides were a wooden gate at the entry that had to be manually opened and closed each time you entered and exited and the fact that you have to drive everywhere.
