“Great place for an extended family vacation”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2014

This is a great place to stay when visiting Maui for a family vacation. The home is located on a quiet street near roads that provide for easy access to major tourist sites on the island and is near some great beaches. The town of Kihie has all the services that you will need from grocery stores to restaurants. Surfing and snorkeling locations are nearby. The property is in very good condition and the property manager's support staff is responsive and friendly.

“Kihei family vacation”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2014

Our family vacation stay at the Hale Leilani was incredible and relaxing. The home was comfortable and had all the amenities needed for our stay, the only thing that was unfortunate was the second kitchen did not have any appliances... but we made due with one refrigerator. The beds were all comfortable and the master bedroom bathroom shower was a favorite for the adults as well as my four grand children. We had wonderful weather a few days of heat but otherwise it was perfect. Our day trip to the Lavender farm and wine tasting at Ulupalakua were well worth the drive... on the way back we stopped at Twin Falls and hiked to the falls, what a treat beautiful scenery and waterfalls. We went to the beach almost everyday the best beach to visit especially if you have young children is Kalepolepo beach, about 5 miles from the house, the beach was clean, the sand was warm, and the water was gorgeous, and perfect for snorkeling and body surfing. We arrived around 9:00 everyday and stayed until the wind picked up generally around 1:30...the outdoor showers, as you leave the beach, were a godsend especially for the kids... had lunch back at the house and spent the rest of the day in the pool (some of us got a rash from the pool). Ben and Amy the caretakers for the house were wonderful and made sure everything was going fine. The town of Para is also a must see quaint and full of great shopping and beautiful beaches, many nice places to eat as well. We will be returning again to the beautiful island of Maui and hope to stay at the Hale Leilani on our next visit.

Owner's reply: Thank you for staying with us, Andrea! We look forward to accommodating you again!

“Great for large family gathering”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2014

Ten of us (7 adults, 3 kids) spent a wonderful week in the Hale Leilani House. The house was great for our family vacation. It is very spacious and the two floors provide privacy. Location on Maui is excellent. The very large dining table in the main living area was fantastic for having family meals (seats at least 10). The kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals (definitely shop at Costco by the airport before heading to the house for best prices and selection). Bedrooms and bathrooms were well equipped and very comfortable. Plenty of towels and hot water available. Small pool was convenient as it was really great to have all of the beach chairs, toys, beach towels, etc right at the house. It was also super helpful to have a high chair, booster seat, stroller and pack'n'play for our toddler. Our only issues were that internet didn't work most of the time and that some of the bedrooms stayed quite warm, specifically those without an AC vent or window unit. Overall, a wonderful house for a large group. We would definitely consider renting it again.

“The house was perfect for our famiy of 10.”

We had a great vacation in Kehei. We enjoyed beautiful sunset each night at the Sugar Beach a short walk from your house. We went seimming at Kamaole Beach almost every day which is a short drive. The accomondation was perfect. The house was bright and plenty spacious for a week stay for seven adults and three small children. There were plenty of dishes, towels, and lots of beach toys and equipments for little kids as well as for adults, including chairs, mats, umbrellas and a cooler which came in handy. The pool was always very clean and very enjoyable in the late afternoon after a long day at the beach or outings. The only thing we need to mention is that the back bedroom upstairs and downstairs could use window airconditoners since those two rooms were very warm in the evening even with the fan blowing. All and all we loved your house and would not hesitate to recommend to our friends. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable. Tom and Tomoko

“a little disappointing”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2013

Our arrival was fine, the house was beautiful in a nice location. After being in the house for the night we found that the master bath had very little hot water, we kept thinking it was because there were so many of us (10). We found the hot water heater on a timer (3) hours total for the day. We found an outdoor shower for use after the beach (the beach had no access to play in from the house, not worth playing in anyways. There's several beaches nearby just a short drive away) this shower was great, we showered here instead of the master bath, the other baths were fine except one of the sinks would not drain. The house could use a few more dishes but we made due. Don't forget your toiletries for the house had none. The washer and dryer was great to have though. The shopping was close which was also nice. In all we had a wonderful time and enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for the experience.

“Wonderful family vacation”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2013

Our family of 14 had a wonderful stay at the Hale Leilani. Comfortable bedrooms and a large living/dining room upstairs where we could have meals and spend time together. The house has everything you need for a Hawaiian vacation - plenty of linens, dishes, beach gear, and even baby gear. The only reason that we couldn't give a 5 star rating is that a couple of the bedrooms were very warm, even with the air conditioning on in the rest of the house.

Owner's reply: Mahalo, Rikesha! We will check to make sure all of the vents are fully open into the bedrooms you mentioned. Thanks for staying at Hale Leilani!

“Celebration of parent's anniversary”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place! The rooms were comfortable and clean. With 18 people (11 adults, 7 kids) we didn't feel as if we were in each other's way. The pool was great and was used a lot! The owners were helpful too. This home was very comfortable and made our stay in Kihei enjoyable. We definitely would recommend this home to anyone, esp. other large groups.

“Great Rental for Large Group!!”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

This home was perfect for our group of 18. There was plenty of room for everyone and the Great Room upstairs easily held us all for meals. The large kitchen was fully furnished with pans, dishes and gadgets, everything we needed to make our meals. They had everything we needed for the beach and day trips, saving us a lot of money. The location was great...only blocks from the center of everything. We definitely would recommend it for anyone needing lots of room.

“Great for large groups with kids”

Reviewed 4 May 2012

We recently rented this prioperty and were very pleased with how well it can accommodate large parties. The gated yard helped keep all of the kids in the yard and the optional pool fence with latching gate helped us relax better while kids were in the yard. There were a multitude of sleeping options and plenty of bedding for each. There were also plenty of beach and bath towels. There are two large dining tables, one indoor and one outdoor, which gave plenty of options for eating locations. Pros: perfect for large groups, pool was clean and fenced in, two indoor refrigerators helped minimize shopping trips, many sliding glass doors to let in sea breezes, walled yard with sliding gate entry, view from yard is elevated above the adjacent street so the ocean is visible from the back porch, close walking proximity to beach, available washer and dryer. Cons: kitchen can get cramped with too many cooks, grill kept blowing out on breezy afternoons, traffic noise on adjacent street is sometimes a little too noticeable.

“Maui Wedding Rental”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

The house was wonderful. Very well set up for the 20 of us. Well stocked with plenty of everything. The only drawback was the fact that all of the children in our group got rashes from the pool. It was very salty for some reason. Other than that, every one loved the property and would gladly rent it again if we ever have another wedding in Maui or just any family gathering. Thanks, Phyllis Meyer
