Reviews for this vacation condo rental in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii
Tucson, AZ USA
9th time at Kahale Makai
January 26, 2013
When we arrived there was a note in the condo telling us the A/C was out of order. We rented this property as we know the importance and comfort of having A/C during our stay. Needless to say we contacted the property manager right away and let them know they needed to fix the A/C or move us to a different unit. They sent over maintenance right away and took care of the issue which makes me wonder why they didn't do that before we arrived to avoid bad customer experience and first impression of the unit. We have stayed at this property at least 9 times now and have been extremely satisfied with the cleanliness and quietness of the rooms.

Horrible communication and waste of time!

I wish I could give a review of the property, but we never even made it inside. My husband made reservations with Anita (the owner) beginning of December 2012 for 4 days of our honeymoon. We did not see a charge on our account for over 2 weeks. On December 16th we noticed a charge to a Martial Arts Center for over $700. We attempted to contact Anita to no avail, so we decided to cancel our cards due to fraudulent charges. This was a huge inconvenience right before Christmas and during the planning of our honeymoon. A few days later we did hear from Anita, stating that she had injured herself and that the charge was, indeed, from her. She said she thought she told us that the charge would run through her business. She did not, but we chalked it up to a simple mistake. No big deal, at this point. She told us she would hold the room until we received our new cards in the mail. We began emailing Anita attempting to pay with our new card less then a week later. After 4 unanswered emails my husband called Village By the Sea in order to confirm our reservation. The woman who answered the phone verified that my husband did have a reservation in his name. At this point our honeymoon was rapidly approaching. We again emailed Anita to ask if we were to pay upon arrival. No answer. Since we had verified our reservation we assumed we would just pay before check in. When we arrived we were told our reservation was cancelled THAT MORNING due to nonpayment. We tried numerous times to pay!!! We had to cancel our cards due to her lack of professional communication. We wasted a whole day of our honeymoon trying to secure a new place to stay. That is time we will never get back. We have still yet to get a response from Anita. I hope no one else has the misfortune of wasting time on this unprofessional woman.
