Description of the Kill Devil Hills vacation cottage rental
Hear the sea breeze in the cedar trees, take in the ocean air and feel the tranquility of our beach house bungalow in the Outer Banks. Like us, you will drift away into a mellow mood in the relaxing and cozy bungalow, best after a beach day or surf.

This beach house was built in 1982 as a 950 sqft beach bungalow that includes a second level loft. It sits on a private and large cut of property in a court. Our favorite hang out room is the living area because it has an open airy flow, vaulted ceilings and a BigAss Haiku Fan - which feels like a propeller. The bungalow faces west, so the sky around sunset is rad. You will enjoy the backyard that has a bunch a private space to grill, have a beer, glass of wine and simply chill out. We did some work in the kitchen to give it a nautical feel and also equipped it with most essentials.

After a day in the sun, you can take some shade in the hammock and later fire up the grill, where Smore's may be in order.

We love our OBX bungalow, its a great house yet, like mosts homes it is not perfect and not for everyone. If your looking for a unique place and local experience in a great beach town to relax, chill out, cook and rest your head after the beach then the bungalow checks all the boxes.

Other Things to Note

Our Bungalow is a rad spot. It is not a massive place, it does fit 6 people but no more. If you are looking for lots of space there are great places for that in the OBX. In fact I rent another property in the area closer to the ocean for that.

Area Information
The Neighborhood

We are located just north of the Wright Brothers Memorial, in a peaceful court mostly occupied by year round local residents. You can take a short 5 minute bike ride with a beach cruiser to First Street beach access, stores or a ride on the Sound path. Walking is possible but will take a bit longer and may not be the best option for some folks (there is parking at the First St. beach access).

The Outer Banks is known for some of the best surfing on the east coast and one of the main reasons we bought this house. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, a short scenic drive, even goes by the name "Wave Magnet." Imagine yourself driving the coastal highway and pulling up to some clean and fun surf conditions in this magical sandbar.

Getting Around

Bicycle is preferred (we have 2 cruisers at the bungalow - bring more if needed), walking distance to the beach (15 Minutes + depending on speed)Uber is a great option. Car, 4x4 if you want to get on the beach.
