Owner Supplied Testimonials
I have to say this is my favorite vacation spot ever! It is such a charming place to go and spend time with my good friends. This property is in a great location with gorgeous views of beautiful blue-green water rolling up on white sands.
My favorite place to spend time (other than the beach itself) was on the front porch that stretches the full length of the house. I had my choice of rocking chairs or hammock, and with a glass of wine in hand, the scene was set for perfect relaxation...AND THEN...we saw the dolphins!...unbelievable beauty.
I was especially pleased at how clean and pretty the house was. The kitchen came fully equipped with everything I could ever want to use. Each bedroom had its own distinct style, comfortably decorated to the hilt and the beds slept great!
There are so many things to do it was hard to pick. Directly in front of the house by the beach is a cute little boardwalk, just wide enough for strolling or riding bikes together all the way to the Kure Beach Pier. By the Pier are several local eating establishments, and we certainly enjoyed the fresh seafood in the restaurants on multiple occasions. Of course, the sun and surf were always beckoning, and shell collecting while strolling on the beach was fun. I even found a few fossilized sharks teeth. It was so convenient to step off that big porch and in just a few steps be right on the sand. Being in such close proximity to the house made bathroom food and water breaks simple too. When we wanted a break from the sun, we visited North Carolina's fabulous state aquarium and Ft. Fisher Civil War Museum (complete with battlefields), all just minutes down the road. Across from the museum were some ocean oaks shading the beach so naturally we brought a picnic. There is also a Ferry you can take across the Intracoastal Waterway to Southport. The town was really neat to see after reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks which featured it as the story location. There is so much to do here that I just can't list it all, but still my favorite was sitting on that gorgeous front porch, wine glass in my hand and watching the dolphins making their way along the shore. I can certainly see why the owners think of this spot as their home away from home. Thank you Debbie for sharing it with the rest of us, and thank you for being so willing to be available to answer all our questions! You helped make our vacation a perfect one. We will be back, but for now, we'll treasure our memories :) Pam
This cottage was perfect for my family's vacation and we had a great time despite uncooperative weather! The front porch is really the star of the show; you can enjoy the ocean without going to the sand (and since it's a porch and not just a deck, you can even enjoy the views in the rain too:) The kitchen is fully equipped and easy to use. The living room is comfy with plenty of room, as are each of the three bedrooms. It was great to have such easy access to the boardwalk, and such a short distance from the pier, shops, and restaurants. The place was also not difficult to baby-proof, our two-year olds loved it and immediately felt at home. Debbie was so helpful with all of our questions and made us really feel welcome. We were so happy with the cottage and hope to come again!
We loved our two week stay here in the Spring. Our annual beach stay in condos has gotten old. This home is cozy, comfortable, with a lot of history in the walls, yet and has all the amenities. The porch could win the " best porch on Kure" competition. The home has been cared for by proud owners.
Our 5th anniversary could not have gone any better. Where should I begin? The view from the two-person porch hammock was the cherry on top, but we were so busy enjoying the area that we barely had the time to relax! On sunny days we rented bikes and went to Ft. Fisher and walked down the beach, but my wive's favorite activity was walking down to the pier on the boardwalk right in front of the house. On our unlucky rainy day we were set. The SmartTV had an HDMI outlet where I could plug in my laptop to the television, and access to Netflix and their assortment of classic DVDs left behind gave us plenty of options to choose from. The owners of the house clearly took amazing care of the place and did an excellent job of balancing modern amenities within it's rustic atmosphere. Any couple looking for a week long getaway, take my word- this is the place. We can't wait to be back next May.
We enjoyed staying in this beautiful home! It was well equipt with everything we could have needed. It felt very clean. The hammock was great! The open yard was wonderful as well, as we played corn hole with plenty of space! The gardenia bush (I believe it was) was a nice touch!
Your beautiful, historic, and comfortable home was the perfect spot for a relaxing week. I feel like I could sit on the porch and look at that beautiful view forever. You truly thought of everything anyone could possibly need to make this a home away from home. This is our third trip to Kure Beach, and it was certainly our favorite. We LOVED the location. We enjoyed dinners on the porch, relaxing in the rocking chairs, and watching it some amazing sun rises. Honestly, Kure beach has to be one of the friendliest places on the planet! Thank you for being so attentive to details and so easy to book a rental with. We would love to come back to MoonSpinner Cottage again. Just sorry we did not get to mer you!
Sincerely and with much thanks,
Sandy & Mitch Robinson
This is a truly special cottage by the sea! It has been completely remodeled with beautiful touches throughout. The attention to detail is evident the moment you walk through the door. Lovely coastal decorations are throughout making the cottage very cozy, but there is still plenty of room for all guests to have their space. We absolutely loved the front porch with its hammock & rocking chairs. Even in the heat of summer, this space has a lovely breeze, plenty of shade and is close enough to hear the waves crashing and watch the dolphins swim by in the mornings! We sat on the porch every morning and evening, it was incredible! Our family spent years in SC renting beachfront houses and this was our first trip to the NC coast and Kure Beach and by comparison this property is at the very top of our list. This house exceeded all our expectations and the owners were wonderful to work with. They have put a lot of love into this property and provide many little touches that will make your stay one to remember. We will be back! The beach is clean with soft sand, lots of space and the Moon Spinner's location couldn't be better. It's really just steps from the sand! Don't be fooled by the small, one-way street in front of the house. It's really more like a jogging path and the only occasional cars are usually just friendly neighbors waving as they slowly pass by. There is also a boardwalk that goes all the way to the heart of Kure Beach which is very nice for a sunset walk or morning run. The house is very near to a lot of fun activities for your entire group. We loved the North Carolina Aquarium (worth the $8 admission) and Ft. Fisher historic site just a few miles down the road. We went to these the day we checked out because while we were at the Moon Spinner Cottage we didn't want to leave! I can't say enough about this beautiful home and our wonderful experience staying and playing at Kure Beach. Wonderful!
