About the area

Wonderful views of the mountains, Located in the quant little town of Laie, Bathtub Beach is one of the North shores best beaches on the Island of Oahu. Told by my survey that it is the only lagoon on the island. Making it ONE of a kind. The Beach here is protected by a natural reef occurring about 50 feet from the shoreline. At low tide, the water is trapped within and is warmed by the sun giving the area it's name, Bathtub Beach. Fish, swim, snorkel, or wade in these calm protected waters where there are no rip currents or undertows. Excellent for children or those a bit more shy of the open ocean. Slip on your mask and snorkel and a quick dip in the pond will introduce you to some of the Pacific's inhabitants. Crabs, Octopus, and seasonal schools of small fish arrive seeking protection in these warm waters Hop over the reef and the snorkeling gets even better. As there is no public access to this beach for over a quarter mile in either direction, access is primarily limited to Ocean Front property's bordering the beach, so you'll most likely have the beach to yourselves A stroll across the street will bring you right to the Polynesian Cultural Center, one of Oahu’s top Visitor attractions. Get a three day pass and simply walk back home for lunch, dinner or a dip to cool off. Grocery shopping, gas, banks, chain restaurants, local stores and restaurants all within a mile or two. Turtle Bay and Sunset Beach just a few more miles away.

Getting around

The Hawaiian bus system is one of the best. Locals use it a lot as many do not have cars. It's best to rent a car and not be depedent on the bus. A trip from the airport can take up to 2 hours, which is double the time it would take by car. Don't try to use Uber or Lyft, it's expensive, more than a rental car would be. There's no other transportantion system on the island.

Getting here

If you never been to Laie before please ask your rental car agent for a courtesy map. Our home is about 52 miles from the Honolulu Airport. The Address is 55-343 Kamehameha Hwy, marked B, Laie Hi 86762 and it is across from the Polynesian CulturalCenter in Laie. Description The fence has white lattice all along the driveway and there is a rock on the ground that is painted red as well. A yellow surfboard shows the address and there is an Aloha flower box at the entrance. As you turn right on THE LONG concrete driveway go straight ahead you will see a blue home and next to a yellow home. Pull up in front of the blue home, Unit B, and that will be your rental. There will be a gate that you will go thru to get to the door to enter the home. On that door will be a realtor box with the keys in it, or Ira, property manager, will meet and give you keys.

“Almost Perfect”

Reviewed 11 Oct 2017

My wife and I stayed here five nights and I don't know if I could have found a better place on O'ahu. My wife is still glowing after our stay. Beautiful private beach with only the back lawn and a few stairs between us. We had two neighbors, both were wonderful. Martha the property manager was super friendly. The owner was very cooperative in the booking. My wife and I walked to the Polynesian Culture Center/Marketplace four times from this cute place, but to the side entrance so no traffic/crowd issues. Not far from a food mart and yet quiet and convenient. Only reason it's not perfect- no back porch lighting and we loved to eat while watching the ocean. If I ever go back to O'ahu, this is where I want to stay, absolutely loved it!
