My wife and our golden retriever had an amazing time. The house is really nice, the view is breath taking, and the The Barbs were really great hosts. We rented a boat for 3 days and used the mooring by the house, swam almost every day, and really enjoyed the surrounding areas and attractions. Kind of don't want to put such a great review since securing a date next summer will be harder = )

Everything was perfect. Barb came by the first night we got there and showed us everything around the house and even helped us plan out a couple of days. We went to Ausable Chasm ( in NY; about an hour away). Since it was offseason, it wasn't fully operational but nonetheless we got to walk around and see the Chasm. It was nothing short of breathtaking and I recommend seeing it. As far as the house goes, you couldn't ask for more. Just a short walk down to your own private beach, bedroom overlooks the lake. Just perfect. It was just what we were looking for. Thanks again Barb for everything. It was awesome. We will be back!

Amazing views, lots to do. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I enjoyed our early fall stay at this beautiful home. The owners were very helpful. There was a lot of information available about the surrounding area. We enjoyed the paddle boat and row boat and spent time with my great granddaughter (who visited with her mom and grandmother for a day). If you like to play pool, bumper pool, or ping pong head to the basement. We climbed local mountains, visited state parks, and took walks in the area. A day trip to Middlebury or Burlington is very doable. The sunsets are amazing and best viewed from the beach. Enjoy! Reviewer location Leverett, MA, USA

Great location! Stunning views! This really is a great place to relax. We had breakfast and other meals outside looking out over Lake Champlain. Loved the beach--black slate, very unique. We've been coming here for years. Our kids love it, too. Besides the beach, they get to play table tennis, darts, pool downstairs while grown-ups are reading in house upstairs! Gets them away from electronics. Vermont ice cream at Goodies is less than a mile--nice walk in the evenings. And the Dynamic Duo--owners--take us out on their boat for some fun tubing! Beautiful house, super clean with lots of extras--coffee, pancake mix, bubble-bath--for the jacuzzi in the master bath! Oh, did I mention, they allow dogs! Super layed-back. Can't wait to go back and visit Champ!

Where to start - my husband and me and our two dogs were able to snag a week at this lovely house mid June when the originally scheduled guests had a last minute emergency. With less than 2 weeks notice, the Barbs accommodated happily and the whole experience absolutely exceeded our expectations. We travel often and use the home away site as we find it best for accommodating our needs and our pups. This is hands down our most memorable experience. The house the lovely! Everything was new and clean. The views were indescribable! We spent every morning drinking our coffee outside overlooking the lake and ended every night by watching the stars (we saw the most amazingly bright shooting stars). We did lots of cooking and grilling outside and were pleasantly surprised at all of the organic herbs and spices in the fully stocked cabinets. We enjoyed the ice cream stand and general store at the end of the private road (fyi- order wisely, the small size is HUGE!). I could go on and on but words cant even begin to describe the perfect week we had will not be disappointed if you book here! So great to meet you Barb and Barb (and to the pups too) and thank you for the most amazing week away! See you again in the near future!

Enjoyed the lake views, boating (we used the canoe), biking and walking. All provided - don't need to bring anything with you, just clothes. Very relaxing and quiet. Spectacular views at all times of the day. Off the main road so no traffic noises. We had a great time! The Barbs are great hosts.

This place is exactly what we wanted -- we stayed for lovely week in July 2015. Best for a couple (like us) or small family -- one great master bedroom upstairs (such views and light!); everyone else will have to sleep on couches, futon; there's a floor loft overlooking the master. Everything in the house is beautiful and new; it's also a great rental for people who (how to put this?) don't like the feeling that you're simply crashing in someone else's vacation home. This place is free of decorative bric-a-brac and another family's clutter. They have everything you need, including a very good propane grill for cookouts. Also -- CENTRAL AIR. (Yes, the lake breezes can be lovely, but not always in the middle of summer, when it gets to the high 80s. We were glad to have A/C on some of our days there.) The lake itself is fantastic; the owners provide paddle boat, canoe, kayaks, floaties and lifejackets galore. We thought the swimming was great (lake level was normal-to-high this year, I was told) and very safe. Another review mentions "too much grass" or growth in the lake to enjoy swimming and splashing around, but that was not our experience at all. Maybe it varies in years where the lake is lower? This is a pretty much perfect rental property -- a great place to chill out and relax. Also close to plenty of Vermont attractions; not far from Middlebury or Burlington. And great, fresh ice cream just up at the top of the road. I loved all the nearby farms and dairies. There's a real earthiness to this part of Lake Champlain in summer; vintage Vermont. I would love to return in winter and see it from a whole other perspective. Overall, this was just what we needed this summer -- peace and calm and beauty.

My husband and I just returned home from a wonderful week up on Lake Champlain with our two dogs at this property. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed, and it was very nice to be able to arrive at the house at our convenience, and not have to check in with a real estate office before they closed, as the owners handle the property themselves. Barbara was very patient with my questions, as I called her a few times prior to our arrival because we were bringing our 23' boat with us and had some questions and concerns. This property is surrounded by lovely Vermont farmland, and having the general store and ice cream stand at the end of the road was very handy. We had plans to see some sites, but we were so relaxed that we just enjoyed our boat and the lake. I had to bring one of my dogs to the vet unexpectedly, and Barbara was so helpful giving me the name, address, and phone no of her vet in the next town over. They were absolutely wonderful. My only complaint, which is very minor, is that the mattress was very hard for us. I know that everyone has different needs, and some might find this perfect for them. Despite this, we still slept well (in large part to the central air...a godsend earlier in the week!) I would highly recommend this property to rent.....very scenic, relaxing, and comfortable. A recommendation... we ate twice at the restaurant in the Westport Marina in Westport, NY (about a 30 minute drive by boat from this property), and it was phenomenal! Thank you, Barbara!

We stayed here with our two dogs the last week in July first week in August. Hottest week in Vermont so far this summer! The central AC was much appreciated in this brand new, fantastic lake house. We were able to relax enjoy ourselves and go on several exploring missions each day. The Barb's binder of top picks and all the near by attractions was so helpful. We were able to easily explore Burlington, Middlebury, Vergennes (3 Squares was our go to breakfast every day) and even Stowe from the house making it an ideal location. The solid surfaces floors on the first level made it ideal for us with the dogs that really enjoy the lake! We were able to relax and easily clean up after them. Highly recommend this house !

This home is absolutely beautiful, the view of the lake is beautiful, and the owners are extremely nice and helpful! We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. It was so peaceful! I would recommend everyone to enjoy this perfect Vermont escape!

We had an absolutely wonderful week at the Lake Champlain getaway! The house itself is built with so much love and so much attention to detail it was such a pleasure to be able to stay in it. The grounds are beautiful with a great dock and a great selection of boats. The area is great for swimming, hiking, biking, boating or just relaxing and having a bite at one of the great cafes around or on the stunning porch. And most of all the hosts were amazing - warm, welcoming, and helpful! My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer and have them over for dinner. Next time!

I can't stress enough how BEAUTIFUL this cabin is! My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere cozy to stay on Lake Champlain, close enough to Burlington and Stowe attractions but not necessarily right in town. This cabin was perfect. The view of the lake is amazing, and the house is incredibly well maintained and decked out with everything we could possibly need (including some very fun games in the basement - bumper pool is my new favorite thing!) Barb was such a great host - thank you again for the beautiful gift basket, we loved it all! I'm sure this would be a great stay in the summer as well and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

My wife and I visited for a little vacation before the arrival of our first child. The hospitality we received was first rate and the property itself is amazing. We spent 4 days relaxing and exploring, and will most certainly be visiting again! The amenities at the property are great for people of all ages and would be great for families as well as romantic getaways. Stop thinking about it and just book it. You will not be disappointed.

This is the second time we've stayed at this house. It a beautiful house, with a great location on the Lake. The house has beautiful views all day long. The house itself is a wonderful place to spend your time when you're not outside enjoying all that Lake Champlain has to offer. It's comfortable, clean and spacious. Can't wait for next Spring's trip up!

We LOVED this place. It has everything you could possibly want for a romantic getaway. The open floor plan, the views of the lake from every room, the huge decks and flowers--we loved everything. As soon as we arrived we were already talking about when we could book another stay. Barb was so welcoming and made us feel at home right away. This was the perfect weekend retreat!

This is truly a best practice of home away from home by our hosts. The new and pristine house is in an amazing location with a magnificent sunset every night over Lake Champlain. Every possible amenity was considered by Barb and Barb, from the jacuzzi tub with master bed directly under the starry sky, music, fully stocked game room, movies, modern kitchen... tasty and generous gifts offering a taste of Vermont on arrival, tourism advise, glorious gardens and anything else you can imagine. Thank you so much for a terrific vacation!

1st of all Barb is the best person I have ever rented a house from. She provides the best possible experience a renter could ask for. As far as the house it is beautiful and the view is outstanding. I have stayed twice now at it and would be there right now if I could be. I brought my dog with me and she was very accommodating for him. He loved the house and the lake probably just as much if not more than me. The house is built with only the finest materials. And there is no bad view from inside or out. I really appreciate everything Barb has done for me while I stayed there. And would recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful getaway. You will not be disappointed in any way shape or form. Thank you again Barb and best wishes...
