Lovely Private 3 Bedroom House on Lake Champlain
|Per week||$1,500 - $1,900|
This vacation home is located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain looking west over small islands and "Grand Isle", the largest island in the Lake Champlain Islands. The home faces west towards the summer sunsets. The vacation home is about a 30 minute drive from Burlington and from St Albans. It is a ten minute drive from the "Sandbar" which is the connection of the Lake Champlain Islands to the eastern shore of Vermont.
The home is near the end of a dead-end dirt road with little traffic. It is located on a wooded lot on a bluff above the lake. While there are homes on either side, they are spaced well apart and the hedges, woods and distance make the home very private. The beach is accessed by about 25 steps down to the lake shore which is small pebbles.
The water is clean and crystal clear.
This three bedroom house has been fully renovated in late 2013 and has been freshly painted inside with warm cozy colors and decorated with comfortable and inviting furnishings. It is full of light and fresh air.
The home is a hillside ranch with the upper floor with the living room, dining room, kitchen, full bathroom and two bedrooms and a hugh screened porch along the entire side of the house facing the lake. The lower floor has a very large family room and a very large bedroom with private bath and laundry room.
You will likely spend most of your time on the screened porch off the upper floor which is the full length of the house and overlooks the lake, small islands, Grand Isle and the Adirondacks beyond.
On the upper floor the large living room and dining face the lake through the porch and over the southern lawn. Between the living and dining rooms is a wood stove style gas heater which can be used to take off the chill at the flick of a switch.
The kitchen is fully updated with full size electric stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and all the necessary cookware, dishes and utensils. A grill and picnic table are provided outside.
There are two private bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has two twins. There is a full with tub and shower.
On the lower floor The levels are connected by a lovely open stair in middle of the house.
Half of the lower floor is a a huge family room with 2 couches which pull out to double beds.
There is a TV/DVD/VCR combo if you do need some electronic entertainment but there is limited TV reception so bring or rent DVDs.
The other half of the lower floor is a large bedroom with a double bed, a private bath with shower and a laundry room.

But if you want to leave the camp but not go far away--

It's 10-15 minutes to the village of South Hero, where you can get a burger or ice cream or visit the apple orchards for which the island is famous and pick up a delicious Papa Ray's Apple Pie, shop for antiques, visit the Snow Farm Winery with surprisingly good grape wines--go for a tour, or attend one of the many concerts held there during the summer.

Beautiful home, huge private yard
August 25, 2014
This is the perfect home for a family vacation. The yard and gardens were gorgeous and the house is updated and comfortable. We brought small children and they loved all the space to run around outside. The house sits on a very quiet road, perfect for bike rides. We had a great time relaxing at home and exploring the local attractions. The owner was accomodating and easy to work with, I would highly recommend this house!

If it is possible to have a place that is roomy and cozy at the same time, this is it. The house does not look like much from the outside, but take a look inside. The two living areas and down stairs bedroom are spacious and the other two bedrooms are a generous size. The two bathrooms are of ample size. The kitchen is remodeled and has almost everything you need. The screened in back porch looking out over lake Champlain is to die for. Spent a lot of time daydreaming, soaking up the spectacular view, and entertaining here. The house is on a secluded private road. You have friendly neighbors who respect privacy. A boat, kayak and canoe are available. The beach is rocky and you will need water shoes. There is a overlook down by the beach. It has wooden swing chairs. Killed several brews enjoying this vantage point. The drinking water is from a well. Don't recommend drinking it. The nearest store is a mere seven miles away. I suggest toting your water like we did. This well furnished home has plenty of room for guests, entertaining and if needed, getting away from one another. There are games, puzzles, books and other activities for the kids and the kids at heart. If your a TV watcher, forget about it. There are three TV channels, but we could not get any. That ok, I went to get away and relax. There is a DVD player, with DVD available, if you just have to. To me the price was worth it. $1700 and change after taxes. The landlords was friendly and helpful. This home is pet friendly, so I had to pay extra to have them along. Just note that the property is not fenced, so if your pets like to chase wildlife, like mine, watch out. I did find tether to tie the dogs to, but just couldn't do it. To sum it up, Lake Champlain, no sir, Great Champlain.

This home is set right on the lake, where you fall asleep every night to the sound of waves against the shore. Very peaceful and relaxing. The home itself has all of the basic necessities (not much for TV reception, so be sure to bring DVD's if that's your thing or just plenty of books for reading, which is what we did). The owner was very welcoming. This home is located approx 20 minutes north of Burlington, which has some great local restaurants and pubs/breweries. Lots of things to see and do. Also, head further north along the shore of Lake Champlain for other scenic drives. We had a great time in Northern Vermont!

My daughter and I spent 3 nights at this lovely cottage recently. We had a relaxing, wonderful time and the environment was everything we had hoped for. The setting and view were spectacular and the sunsets were picture perfect. We kayaked, relaxed on the beach, grilled a nice dinner, read and rested on the comfy porch where we stared at the lake. The cottage itself was clean and well appointed, with nice touches throughout. We definitely plan to return to this lovely place!
