Description of the Lake Champlain vacation cottage rental
Enjoy all that a Vermont lake front summer has to offer! Swimming, sunbathing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, cycling, hiking, and more! Pictured is one of three contiguous summer cottages located directly on Lake Champlain on the Missisquoi Bay in West Swanton, Vermont.

Located on a private road, this cottage has 60 feet of lake frontage, and faces Lake Champlain to the west for great sunset views. Included in the rental fee is a 14-foot aluminum boat (which is registered for use with your motor) and a 50-foot dock. A 3600-pound capacity boat hoist is also available. A public boat access is located less than one mile away. The beach is a mixture of sand and shale with a gradual drop-off, making it ideal for children. The cottage is just one hour from Montreal, four hours from Boston, and six hours from New York City.

Relaxing time on Lake Champlain

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Maples Cottage. Even though there were 2 bedrooms, we chose to sleep on the sleeper couch in the sun room because you can't beat going to bed and waking up to the view of the lake. With the flow through air coming through the sun room windows and the front porch door, we never used the air conditioners in the house. The kitchen is the most fully stocked kitchen (for appliances, cookware and utensils) for any house that I've rented. The location on the lake is terrific - we kayaked from the cottage into the adjacent Missiquoi Wildlife Refuge and saw 3 beaver homes. Another day we kayaked down the Missiquoi River and to the cottage (and jogged back to where the car was parked). We made use of the trails in the wildlife refuge (could walk to some of them) as well as rode our bikes on the Missiquoi River Valley Trail (it runs from At. Albans to Sheldon). We took a day trip to Montreal since it was only a hour (or more, depending on your route) away; explored Old Montreal, some of the parks and certainly some of the brew pubs. The owners were wonderful, flexible with our later arrival at 6pm. Leisa has some great old pictures of the area. The family renting the adjacent cottage made full use of the paddle boats and row boat, and a neighbor generously took the children tubing on the lake.

NICE BIRTHDAY STAY

October 7, 2015

We were looking for a quiet cabin by the water and that's what we got. The cabin is beautiful and clean and has everything you need. We made a BBQ the first night we got there and enjoyed being outdoors on the deck with the dog (who took several dips in the water and loved watching the wildlife). During the day we did some sightseeing and came home in the evenings. The cabin is spotless and really cozy. I was able to catch up on my reading and conversation. During the day, we visited local farms and picked up a few gifts. The landlord is a great guy he knew it was my birthday and he sent me some flowers. I was so touched. You have to bring your own water because the water is not drinkable. But we found a local Walmart in Plattsburgh and picked up a few gallons of water to last us for the week. It rained while we were there but the cabin was quite cozy and we didn't feel the wind or the rain except when we went outside. The lake is in the backyard and the sunsets were spectacular! We had a great time. We will come back again.

We Had To Travel To The Area As My Son Was Moving. Things Were Not Coming Together. We Were Able To Secure This Cottage For 2wks To Live In While Details Of My Son's Real Estate Adventure Sorted Themselves Out. The Cottage Is Equipped, supplied And Kept Up To Date. Would Recommend. The Owners Are Wonderful.

This was a fantastic place to get away for a week. Beautiful location, the cottage is clean and well kept, and the owner and manager are kind and attentive. It was just two of us, so we closed off the smaller bedrooms, but a family could be quite happy here as long as sharing the one bath is OK. Thanks so much for making this a much needed and memorable respite for us.
