Description of the Lake Lure vacation cabin rental

SPECIAL HOLIDAY Wks: THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR = $200/NIGHT (minimum of 5 nights). Regular = $850/week

**SHORT STAYS / WEEKEND STAYS (4 Days & 3 Nights Minimum at $550 + taxes)

Please note that we normally have NO Discounts for short 3 night stays. The cost of preparation and cleaning 'before' and 'after' your visit is the same for 1 night or 7 nights stay, but this cost is spread more thinly for longer stays - hence the big discounts for stays longer than 5 nights. ***

This heart-warming, gracefully charming, & tranquil Log cabin sits on a very secluded cul-de-sac of a gated log home community overlooking the most beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Why settle for other cabins that do not have 'postcard-perfect' views, privacy, & the warm comfort of home? The 'million-dollar' view from the cabin deck is the South Mountain State Park. Watch the sunrise & sunset from the deck. You'd swear that the colors/hues changes day to day. This cabin is located in the center of many attractions in the Blue Ridge mountains. It is right in between Lake Lure & Lake James for those who love Lakes. Asheville is a short trip away if you want to see the magnificent Biltmore Estate. Breathtaking Linville Falls & Grandfather Mountain is nearby with walking trails & stunning views. The cabin has a Fireplace, 2 Satellite Cable TVs (32 inch Flat Screen TV in Living Room), DVD, Stereo CD, Computer w/ Dial-up Internet connection, Small Pool/Billiard Table, Wash Machine, Dryer, Dishwasher, Coffeemaker, Grill, Board Games, & Playstation 2. There is dial-up Internet connection to check emails.

Note: This is a Mountain cabin (not a lakefront cabin). However, we are in close proximity to two lakes (Lake Lure and Lake James). We are 20 - 45 minutes away from most attractions in our area - Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Lake James, Biltmore Estate, the Blueridge Parkway, beautiful Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Grandfather mountain, Blowing Rock, South Mountain State Park, Mount Mitchell State Park, and others.

We rented this log home for a little getaway over a long weekend in Feb. It was very comfortable and had all the amenities of a home away from home. Rooms are spacious and the grounds were very nice. If it was a little warmer we would have loved to sit on the wrap around deck and just enjoy the peace and quiet of being in the mountains, but yet only about 10 mins. from the town (Marion). We enjoyed visiting the quaint little towns of Marion, Morganton and Lenior while we were there. We are thinking about retiring in this area and our stay gave us the feeling that we're making a good decision. It was so peaceful and serene. We plan to visit the area again in the near future and will definitely check the availability of this log home. Peggy, the owner, bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable. Our security deposit was returned promptly.

Hello. You posted on the wrong house. We don't know a Peggy and we're not in Marion. Thanks.

A True Home Away From Home!

November 6, 2010

We recently spent a week hiking in North Carolina and chose the Lone Star Lodge as our home base. And what a luxurious home base it turned out to be! The log home that Alex and Archie recently built was such a pleasure to return to every evening after a day of exploring the woods around western NC. They made us feel right at home with all the comforts of a fully equipped kitchen, 2 large bathrooms and 3 very comfortable bedrooms. Our favorite nighttime spot turned out to be the comfy reclining couch facing the outside deck and the view of the mountains thru the glass doors (the entire length of the back walls of the house). Over the week we could watch the leaves slowly changing colors down the mountains as the weather grew cooler. I was even guilty of using the available computer to email family back home in Florida to brag about the wonderful log home and the Fall colors outside. Of all the places we've rented during 26 tears of marriage and travel this was by far one of the tops!

We were truly blessed by our vacation at the cabin!! The view was wonderful, I enjoyed just sitting on the deck and reading and watching the mountains. The cabin was so clean!!!!! I loved that! Your thoughtfulness in all the little details, area attractions, etc. was truly appreciated.(Also the flowers on the deck). Hope to be back again one day. My dealings with Alex were very pleasant, almost felt like I've known him before. Thanks again. Dan & Sharon

We found this cabin to be everything that the website said it was. It was spacious, clean and decorated appropriately for the area. The views from the back deck are wonderful. The owners are very accommodating and gave us great tips on what to see, where to eat and shop. We do advise that anyone visiting this area for the first time to be sure to arrive while it is still daylight so that you can get your bearings in the area and locate the cabin in the daylight as there are several turns. We definitely enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Great view from the sitting room and deck. The photos don't do it justice. When you first walk in you will know you made the right choice!. We had four in our group and used the three sleeping areas. My wife and I, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. You might be thinking that surely someone would have had a complaint after 7 days about the accommodations. Surprise.... Not one !!! We all agreed, great beds, comfortable surroundings & very clean. The property is well maintained and still feels fresh and new. The owners had recently placed potted trees and flowers on the deck and around the property. If you need a place to stay near the parkway or are looking to get away you should consider staying here ! Our group is already talking about going back this fall just hanging out at the house and taking in the fall colors.

N.B. Our security deposit was returned just a few days after our stay, in full and without a hitch along with a nice note of thanks.

This cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I really loved the sofa, comfy!!! Well, so was the Master bed now that I think about it. I enjoyed the hominess of it all. The dining room table served us well for breakfast, senic views and Scrabble. The sub-division was very nice and the views were beautiful. Would return to this one. And the location was great for visiting Lake Lure, Chimney Rock. Great Mexican resturant in Forest City (by movie theater).

Our Christmas Stay at the Cabin

Our stay at the cabin truly was a home away from home experience. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, the views were beautiful driving into town, and after a long day out visiting the Biltmore House with my children, we came home to the freshest smelling linen and very comfortable beds. From a mother's perspective, I couldn't have asked for more.

Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin, and for all the information you left on nearby attractions and grocers. We would love to come back during the summer. I bet the views are even more beautiful.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this cabin. The views are stunning, the cabin is private, comfortable, and very well equipped. The two first floor rooms were perfect for our family and the loft is spectacular for watching the sun rise over the mountains in the morning. The whole family enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the rocking chairs in the late afternoon and BBQ dinners around the picnic table. In Bostic, we picked up amazing country sausage at Sammy's for our lazy morning breakfast. The cabin is within easy driving distance of Rockhouse Winery, Lake Lure, and Asheville, among many other great places. We can't wait to come back!

Wonderful Honeymoon Spot!

My husband went up and stayed a week for our honeymoon, it could not have been more wonderful.

It was quiet and peaceful, there are no cabins within sight of this one.

Also, within an hours drive to Biltmore, Ashville, the Linville Caverns, and the Grove Park Inn - All of which are wonderful.

Lots of light in the cabin, and a terriffic view!
