We arrived at the cabin Friday afternoon really looking forward to a quiet relaxing weekend enjoying the lake. Unfortunately, the homeowners decided to schedule a construction project during the weekend we were there and there was a team of people using power tools and working there that clearly had no intention of wrapping up their project just because there were renters in the cabin now. We finally left for a while to find a little peace and quiet. (The owners later told us it was our responsibility to take care of getting this group to leave so we could enjoy the cabin!) But the big disappointment is that not only is there no decent view of the lake from anywhere in the cabin, the little bit of view that you do have is of the dam and bridge. The lights stay on down on the bridge all night so you can't even enjoy sitting on the dock in the evening looking at stars or the lake because the lights shine in your eyes. The stairs down to the lake are really dangerous - uneven and no railing. We were really surprised that a rental cabin would have such obvious dangers. When we arrived, the deck was so covered with branches and leaves, that it was unusable unless we cleaned it ourselves (which we did.) It clearly hadn't been cleaned up that day even though we were strictly warned not to arrive before 4 pm since the cleaning crew was there and we were not to disturb them. If you really like to cook, don't expect much out of the kitchen - there are a few mismatched, beat up pots and pans, but it's a poorly stocked kitchen. The electric socket in the bathroom didn't work so there was no way to use a hair dryer or electric razor which made it very difficult for us to get ready for our night out, there was a basket full of flashlights that didn't work for heading down to the lake in the evening and there are only thin white blinds on the windows in the upstairs bedrooms so don't expect to sleep in while you're on vacation. Some of these things could be forgiven to some degree, but the icing on the cake is that the owner we communicated with was very unpleasant and unreasonable. She was very unapologetic about the experience with the work crew and told us that we should have handled that ourselves? Such an unpleasant woman and experience. If you're considering renting this cabin, I'd recommend that you keep looking - both for a house where you can actually enjoy the lake views and hopefully for an owner who is nicer and easier to work with.
