Description of the Lake Luzerne vacation cabin rental
If you are looking for a true 'Adirondack Camp' experience, look no further!
First, about the Cabin. Sitting on the shore of Forest Lake (a private association lake with no motor boats allowed), the cabin was built in the 1940's as a rental for one of the many Dude Ranches that were active around the Lake George/Lake Luzerne area. A Charming cabin that has been completely restored to provide all the modern amenities that one would expect today. There are three bedrooms upstairs with a full bath, downstairs you will find a spacious living room with original stone fireplace (gas logs installed) a dining room that seats 6, a large kitchen boasting a gas range/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and a full selection of cookware, dinnerware and utensils. There is a full bath (with shower) downstairs that also hosts a full size washer/dryer for your convenience.
Also, lakeside, is a quite place you can curl up with a good book. Walk out the backdoor onto a large covered porch overlooking the lake. Sit quietly and you will probably see the bald eagles that live on the lake, lots of ducks and geese, and occasionally the family of otters that make their home across the lake. Attached to the covered porch is an open deck to grab a few rays or fire up the grill. Step off the porch and it is steps to the lake. There is a dock for fishing and a nice sloped area for swimming. We have a row boat at the property for your use! You can spend your entire visit relaxing at the cabin but if you want to explore the area, there is plenty to do. There are several river rafting outfitters just down the road as well as The Painted Pony Rodeo. Horseback outfitters, snowmobile outfitters and hiking trails are all nearby. The Longhorn Pub is just down the road for a hamburger or a drink, a locals place that is good and fun. If you wish to explore a bit further and need some additional shopping or dining, just a few miles brings you to the Lake George area where putt-putt, amusement parks, restaurants, outlet malls and shops will keep you busy. Lake George offers more boating and fishing opportunities. During the winter try the Tubby Tubes near the cabin or drive to Gore Mountain for a day of skiing.
Area Information
We are minutes to the Northway (I87) and it will quickly take you south to Saratoga Springs and Albany, north to the upper Adirondack region with Lake Placid and the Lakes (even Montreal is just a couple of hours away), and East to Vermont.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Wonderfully atmospheric log cabin. Full of character yet with all conveniences. We stayed with our girls aged 6 and 8 plus a cousin of 13. Lots of room for 5. The place was clean, well managed, the service from the owners was faultless. In our view the reality is even better than the photos! We highly recommend this cabin for the accommodation, the lake and proximity to lots of family attractions. The Painted Pony rodeo is at the bottom of the road, Lake George is 10 minutes away and the lake is fun for messing around in their little boat, fishing or swimming

We visited the area for a getaway weekend in late summer 2015, and were delighted to spend our days and nights at this charming, well-appointed and ideally located log cabin. The setting was an excellent balance of quiet reserve and easy access to area attractions, and the cabin itself offered absolutely everything we could have wished for. Bedding was comfortable, kitchen facilities extensive, and Internet access (increasingly a must, even for 'getaway' weekends') was robust. The relaxing and fully furnished porch presents an idyllic spot for dining, reading, or basking in the lakeside atmosphere. We greatly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit when the opportunity arises.

Our family of five (3 boys between the ages of 7-16) just returned from a relaxing vacation at this beautiful cabin filled with character and charm. We felt like we were miles away, yet we were close to shops, restaurants, and theme parks. The cabin is wonderfully appointed with all modern conveniences and very comfortable furnishings. We enjoyed reading, playing cards and eating on the covered porch, s'mores on the outdoor fire pit and searching for waterlillies and snails on the peaceful lake. Thank you and we hope to return again to further explore the Adirondacks.

Fred and Pam made this cabin a cozy retreat. It is impeccably decorated with both authentic old and modern conveniences. My husband and I enjoyed our time there and would go back again. It is a short distance from Lake George and Bolton Landing. Their outdoor deck with large wood awning was the perfect way of being outdoors with an indoor feel. We had a rainy day and we were still able to eat outdoors and enjoy the beautiful lake setting. The inside and out is clean and very well maintained. If you are looking for a "house on the lake" this is your place to go. Fred and Pam are quick with responses to your questions and are available if needed by phone or email. Thank you Fred and Pam for a great 4 days and sharing your beautiful getaway!!!

After such a delightful first trip to this Adirondack lake-side cabin, I just had to return. This time bringing some work-friends for a Gals Trip. What a fun weekend! We got in Friday evening after leaving Boston mid-afternoon and grabbed dinner in Glens Falls at Davidson Brothers Brewing Company before arriving at the cabin. My group spent the weekend relaxing around the house -- eating, drinking, playing games, walking around the lake. On Saturday we treated ourselves to manis/pedis at a nail salon called Pink Lady. We had planned to try out Tubby Tubes, but didn't make it before their 4pm closing time on Sunday (it's open until 5pm on Saturdays). We all felt so comfortable and at home; everyone oohed and ahhed over all the wonderful details in the place. The kitchen counters had been updated since I was last here, now with gorgeous granite. What a pleasure to spend time in a place that is so well cared for! This cabin is a true treasure: effortlessly incorporating modern amenities while preserving the rustic feel. I recommend this beautiful cabin retreat & will certainly be visiting again!

We decided to get away at the last minute for a long, very cold (seventeen below one night!) holiday weekend. We called Fred and Pam after having discovered the cabin on this site and were thrilled to find out it was available. We arrived after dark having loaded up on supplies in the nearby town and could not have been more pleased at what we found inside. The home is spotless and has every imaginable convenience. The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen is loaded with equipment and top of the line appliances, and it's quite clear that Pam and Fred have put a lot of thought into making sure their guests are well taken care of. Pam even spent a good amount of time on the phone with us talking through possible hikes we could take (we braved the cold and climbed a nearby mountain with stunning views). There is a great tavern just down the road (the nachos are sinful) and we left feeling happy, relaxed and ready to take on the week. Thanks to Pam and Fred for the extra care and we look forward to returning to enjoy another season!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: About us?
A: We are Pam and Fred Asmussen, we live in Texas and purchased the home last year. Two of our children live in the Northeast and we purchased the house to be able to spend more time with them. We have fallen in love with upstate New York and the Adirondack region is our little slice of heaven. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Q: Why this property?
A: When you close your eyes and try to imagine your idea of a lakefront camp in the Adirondack's this property is most likely what you will see. A true hand cut log home, nestled among the pines overlooking a beautiful lake. Original pine floors, exposed logs, and a handlaid stone fireplace gives the house its charm. With a well done addition to the house and lots of work, the house was remodeled to provide a modern kitchen and nice bathrooms. We have decorated the house to keep the charm of a log home but included many of our personal pieces, furniture and rugs to give the house a bit of elegance as well.
Q: Why we are unique?
A: What makes this house special?
Standing on the porch watching the wildlife?
Testing the water with your toes in early summer to see if you are brave enough for a plunge?
Family and friends gathering in the kitchen, all talking, laughing and cooking?
Backing up to the fireplace on a frosty morning with a cup of coffee?
Curling up in a chair on the deck with a good book?
