Description of the Lake barkley vacation home rental
Leisure Lakehouse is your perfect vacation spot for all that Lake Barkley, Land Between the Lakes, and Kentucky Lake has to offer.

This 3 bedroom 3 bath house has a private and peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The 4 kayaks included with rental are a great way to explore the lake, or you might choose to recline on the wrap-around porch and enjoy the views of owls, eagles, egrets, herons, wild turkey, deer, and large jumping fish!

Little River is a hot spot for fishing in spring/summer, and you can fish from the private dock, shoreline, or your watercraft. We are convenient to 2 marinas and several public boat launches.

Plenty of parking. The circular drive is large enough for several vehicles and boats. We have easy access to I-24 so you can navigate to all the local areas of interest.

The Army Corp of Engineers control Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake levels. During spring and summer/high pool, the water levels around the dock are typically 3-5 feet. This is the best time to enjoy fishing, kayaking and other water sports. The Corp begins lowering water levels in July.
Area Information
Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are famous for great fishing and boating. Little River off of Lake Barkley is particularly good for bass and crappie fishing.

Cadiz is a clean and friendly town that is known for its antiquing and annual Ham Festival. Be sure to look for all the colorful pigs located along Main St and in front of many businesses and residences. Cadiz is where you will find your basic supplies, and it is the town that is the gateway to Land Between the Lakes. Be sure to spend time exploring all that this area has to offer, including the elk and bison reserve, the planetarium, and a variety of family friendly amusements.

Marinas are located nearby. For boat rentals, you will want to visit Prizer Point Marina or Barkley Lake State Park Resort.

Marinas: The closest marina is Moon River Marina Resort at 3025 Rockcastle Road, Cadiz. About 3 miles by boat and 8 miles by car.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park at 3500 State Park Road, Cadiz, is 5.90 miles by boat and 14.75 miles by car. Nice hiking and biking trails. Public beach.
Best Time of the Year to Travel
Spring and Summer are for fishing and water sports! Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are controlled lakes with high pool in spring/summer, and low pool in fall/winter. The Army Corp of Engineers begins to lower water levels in July. By late August/September, water levels at the dock are generally too low to permit use of the kayaks. Autumn is a beautiful season for enjoying all the wildlife and spectacular fall colors.

Beautiful view!

November 4, 2016

As soon as you walk in, you'll see a wall of windows overlooking the lake. So relaxing and serene. Quiet cul-de-sac location too! There were 2 couples and each of us had our own bedroom & bath which worked out perfectly. Lovely place.

Owner's reply:

We love the peace and solitude of our location too. Always able to relax and unwind, that's why we named it Leisure Lakehouse!

Beautiful House on the Lake (July 16, 2016)
The house was amazing! It was beautifully decorated and had everything you could possibly need. We had a great time with the kayaks- a new experience for a couple of us. We rented a pontoon at the Eddy Creek Marina near by- had a great time out on the lake. The grandkids loved the room with 2 bunkbeds- it was their room! We had a little raccoon visit every evening. It was definitely worth the money.

Great Family Vacation (July 12, 2016)

Awesome House in a Peaceful Setting (July 7, 2016)
This house was amazing & in a very peaceful setting! The house was very clean & had a well stocked kitchen! Plenty of activities for everyone! I have booked numerous houses & Thea & Bill were by far the best owners to deal with! Thanks again for letting us stay at the Leisure Lakehouse!!

Wonderful peaceful location & extremely comfortable accommodations for all! (June 26, 2016)
Bill and Thea thank you very much for the opportunity for my family to stay at your home. We had a great time ... The house was extremely comfortable and wonderfully appointed .. Everything we needed was there .. The grandkids loved the bunk bedroom!! And all the adults enjoyed the kayaking and spending a couple of evenings around the fire pit making smores and cooling off with some beverages. A dinner trip to Patti's Restaurant in Grand Rivers was a treat enjoyed by all and another trip to LBL to see the Elk and Bison was amazing!! ... The kids and adults REALLY enjoyed that excursion. Again, thank you. Jerry Mills and Family!

Great House! (June 19, 2016)
Our family has rented a few houses for vacation before and they all were fine but nothing to really write a review for. The Leisure Lakehouse was by far the best house we have ever stayed in. The kitchen has everything you need and then some to cook your meals. We sleep with fans in our room at home and it was a nice touch to have them available at the house. Our stay was during some unusually warm weather and the air conditioning worked wonderfully especially in the upstairs rooms. The porch is great and the property is just like the pictures. We are not big water sports people but we did enjoy kayaking around the island. The house is very quite and isolated which was relaxing. When we first pulled into the driveway we were stared down by a deer in the side yard. We soon found out why as the baby deer soon came out of the woods to be by it's mother. The owners are quick to respond to any e-mail questions. Overall a great experience and if we are ever in the area again for vacation we will definitely stay here!

(June 2016)
As we pulled into the driveway we were stared down by a deer. We soon found out why as a baby deer popped out of the woods to be with its mother! The abundance of wildlife and the lake setting is beautiful enough, but the incredible house puts this place over the top. We were able to use the kayaks to explore the lake. We visited Fort Donelson National Military Park, and our college aged sons were able to come down from Evansville to spend a few days. Thank you for allowing our family time to unwind in a beautiful setting.

(June 2016)
Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home. There were a few family members who had no lake experience. So plenty of first-timers (boating, jet-skis, towables, etc.). The place gives a nice impression of how nice "the states" can be.

(June 2016)
We came for our first family vacation with our 1 year old to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. It's been wonderful! It was so nice to "unplug" from technology and sit back and relax! We loved the quiet time on the deck and lake. It was so nice sitting back and watching our baby toddle around the house and yard. So thankful for how extremely nice and clean the house is! Definitely helped in getting us relaxed and feeling settled in like home!

We visited for Memorial Day! We came from Dallas and Valparaiso Indiana to meet up with our family from Mayfield and Paducah. This will be a wonderful memory for years to come. We went fishing, kayaking, and visited in this beautiful setting. We played games and laughed and reminisced. Needless to say we had a terrific time. We pray for you to have a wonderful life in your retirement years.
PS. Beautiful view!

(May 2016)
Beautiful house to enjoy the weekend. Could not ask for more. We love the setup and took advantage of the great location with a little shooting at LBL's range, boating and fishing, and poker with some friends. Thanks for letting us celebrate here.

Wonderful Stay! (May 2016)
Thea and Bill provided EVERYTHING we needed for the weekend. Wonderful accommodations along with great communication throughout the rental process. I will be recommending their home to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend!

Awesome house on the lake! ( April 2016)
This place was so spacious and felt like home to a group of quilters. This year we decided to try something different and stayed in a home. The house had everything you could need for making meals. We had 12 adults in our group and never felt crowded, there was plenty of area to talk about the adventures from the day whether it was on the deck overlooking the lake, around the kitchen island as we prepared meals, or in the living area. Many memories were made this trip with my mom/aunts/sisters/cousin. We couldn't be more thankful to the owners for providing such a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you again! We hope to come again next year!

July Visit (July 8, 2014)
The listing was accurate as well as the pictures. The property was very clean and in order. Not one thing out of place and the kitchen well stocked. I was able to dock my 19 foot Alumacraft boat at their dock which was very convenient. We were only 2 adults and 5 teenagers so plenty of room. Driveway is easy to pack trailer and the lot is very spacious. 15-20 boat ride form the dock to main part of Lake Barkley. The State park is nearby and easy to boat to as well. There is a marina near State park where you can eat outside that we used twice. Nothing fancy but nice to eat outside. We boated up to 9 hours/day. Lots to see. The owners were very easy to deal with and helpful. My deposit returned the next day. Easy to recommend this to others. Imagine spring bass fishing good back near house.

Amazing (July 18, 2014)
This cozy rental exceeded expectations. Arrived with some friends for a golfing adventure and the place was pretty centrally located. The house was able to accommodate all our needs. Was clean, nice, and we all enjoyed our stay!!!

Wonderful relaxing Labor Day weekend with family!
(August 29, 2014)
Nice large home, plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, beds, and fans! Kitchen was great with fully stocked utensils, pots/pans. We had a really relaxing time at this rental!

PERFECT WEEKEND STAY!!!! (September 19, 2014)
I searched high and low for the PERFECT place to have a surprise gathering to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday (bedroom on ground floor, minimal stairs, on the water, covered porch/balcony, roomy, clean, etc) and we found just what we were looking for at the Leisure Lakehouse!!! In fact, it was so enjoyable we began discussing our NEXT stay at Leisure Lakehouse. :) The pictures and (one) review I read sold it for me, but let me say....the pictures still don't do it justice. You will be impressed with the look and feel of the home and will quickly feel right at home. We 'wanted' for nothing. As each of our family members arrived (from LA, DC, OH, and IL) they oowwed (sp?) and awed over the beauty and spacious living accommodations! They asked repeatedly, "How did you find this place?" We enjoyed a morning walk along the country road side where we saw deer, hawks, and a baby Northern Ring-Necked snake. In summary, we all would recommend the Leisure Lakehouse for your next getaway

Christmas at Leisure Lakehouse (December 22, 2014)
Our family had a wonderful time at Leisure Lakehouse over Christmas. The house was just beautiful. Everything was just as nice as the pictures, even better. We loved the spacious kitchen, the awesome porch, the master bedroom and bath. The lake was even more beautiful than we expected it to be at this time of the year when the water levels are lower. Because of the mild weather, our kids went kayaking on Christmas! We also really enjoyed the little town of Cadiz. The Backyard BBQ restaurant was great, and the antique shops were fun. The owners communicated well with us, and the deposit was refunded right away. We give Leisure Lakehouse 5 stars!

Memorial Day Family Fun (May 21, 2015)
Our family had such a wonderful time at this lakehouse. We couldn't have asked for anything better! The home is beautiful and very clean. Great location...we brought a pontoon boat that was easily docked on your own private dock. Water is within steps of the home. The porch is simply awesome...you can spend all day relaxing on the HUGE covered porch with plenty of seats. I wish we could spend every weekend there!!!

Family Summer Vacation 2015 (June 6, 2015)
This house was absolutely wonderful! We rented a pontoon boat and docked our wave runner at the dock. We had the river to ourselves and it was beautiful and quiet. The house was so clean and filled with everything that you would need on your vacation, from towels to life jackets and kayaks. It rained on us one day and we sat on the lovely deck and enjoyed the view. We have 2 grandchildren (ages 22 months and 4 yrs) and even though we brought games and toys for them, the house had cards, games and books for our use! We thought the refrigerator wasn't working the day we arrived and the owners sent someone over right away to fix it. The house was a bit tricky to get to but if you follow the directions exactly, you'll find this amazing home. We loved it so much, everyone voted to come back here next summer

Quiet, relaxing vacation spot (August 1, 2015)
Our group of 12, ranging in age from 63 to 3, enjoyed a relaxing week at the house. The home is beautiful and very up-to-date inside. The wrap-around porch is deep and has plenty of seating. The views from the porch are nice. During the week we saw plenty of wildlife, including some does and fawns strolling through the yard at dusk. Three of the kayaks are single seaters and one seats up to 3 (if two of them are small). The river was wide, quiet, and definitely deep enough for kayaking. The kids enjoyed swimming, fishing, and using floaties around the dock area. The home is at the end of a long and very quiet road which was nice for jogging and walking. There are plenty of sleeping options for large groups, allowing families to split up in different ways so everyone is comfortable. The closest town is Cadiz, about a 20 minute drive. The town is small, but offers a library with Wi-Fi, a grocery store, and plenty of antique shops to explore. There are also several restaurants, although we did most of our cooking at the house using the excellent assortment of kitchen-ware. We ventured out a couple times to visit Paducah and Land Between the Lakes. Paducah is interesting (looks for the Dip-n-Dots factory and the river murals) and has some nice bars and restaurants. Land Between the Lakes is a very large green space and would probably be nice for hiking if the temperatures were under 90 degrees, which they weren't :). The house is stocked with some games and books for kids, but I would recommend that you bring plenty of entertainment for little ones, including toys, books, and movies. Overall, a very nice week in a very nice home.

We had a wonderful stay! (June 13, 2015)
My family and I come from Northern Pennsylvania and it was nice to have a little home away from home. This house and all its views are just beautiful, even more beautiful than we imagined. Between the wildlife and being on the water there is always a sight when you look out the windows, especially in the morning. There is always something to do. You are close to the lake and town. Our favorite day was when we rented the pontoon from Prizer Point for a day of fishing and swimming on the lake. Land between the lakes is also a great place to explore. There are so many great places to eat! There were two that were our favorite little restaurants. R - Place which you'll find on your way to the land between the lakes and Mr BBQ has the best pork bbq which is just after LBL before you get to patties restaurant. Not only was the home cooking delicious but the hospitality was exceptional! After each of the busy (but extreemly fun) days we had, it was so nice to come back to such a peaceful and welcoming home to just relax and soak it all in. Next time we will be inviting family to enjoy the stay with us!

A wonderful stay! (July 4, 2015)
So glad we found this place ! The owners were terrific to work with and replied quickly to all questions/concerns. The property and home were amazing and more than ample space for our group of 3 kiddos and 6 adults! We had a boat so kayaks didn't get used as much but great equipment and kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare all our meals at the house. It was very clean and caretaker Tana was very nice too! The porch is so great and we utilized it for meals, game playing , and just being together. The marina is a short boat ride and we caught fish too! I don't know how we could have found a better place! Already thinking about a return trip.
