Description of the Lamoine vacation home rental
Since 2004, Cove House has been a great place to stay when visiting Acadia National Park. It is located in Marlboro,on the quiet side of Lamoine. From the comfortable deck, you have expansive views of Raccoon Cove, Frenchman Bay, Schoodic Point and the mountains of Mount Desert Island.

Enjoy Maine's natural beauty and the many attractions it offers while staying in this spotless log house that is just right for two or for a family of six. Cove House sits on a bluff about 25 feet above the Cove. It has a spacious, open-floor plan - a great room with a cathedral ceiling and two stories of windows for panoramic views of the Cove and beyond. The dining area and fully equipped kitchen provide everything you need for a pleasant eating experience.

A queen bedroom and a twin bedroom, fresh linens, a full bathroom with laundry facilities, lots of fluffy bath towels and beach towels, round off the first floor. French doors lead to the deck with an umbrella table and chairs, a gas grill and potted herbs for cooking.
Enjoy a pleasant evening on the porch, furnished with comfortable seating, and chat about plans for the next day.

The second floor has master suite with king bed, dresser, desk, cable TV, large walk-in closet, and plenty of room for a crib and pack-and-play (provided as needed). The bathroom has a large jetted tub and separate shower. A hall closet holds linens, towels, extra bath rugs, puzzles and games. A loft overlooking the living room has comfortable seating and is ideal for board games, chess, or just reading a good book.

A bench and two Adirondacks overlook the water making it the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the views of the mountains of Acadia National Park to the South, Frenchman Bay and the Schoodic Peninsula to the East, and Hancock Point and Marlboro Beach to the Northeast. There is access to the shore at only one spot on the property to protect the delicate vegetation and prevent erosion.

Children are welcome. We aim for a low allergen environment by keeping the property smoke- and pet- free.

A new gas fireplace and radiant heat on the first floor keeps you warm and cozy as you walk around barefoot. The second floor has baseboard heat and warm wood floors.

Wonderful House, Great Landlord!

September 18, 2015

We came to Maine looking for nature, peace, and "End of the World" feeling. We found just that here! The house sits in the woods, quiet and private. We arrived in the early evening, greeted by the ocean breeze, the endless green color around, the beautiful view of the bay and the mountain in Acadia. The kids were so excited, and they run over through the woods down to the bay without even going into the house. The house pictures on the web page are very nice, but the actual house is even better. It is very well kept and it felt like it was built just last year. It is spacious, extremely clean, with all the modern home features we like. The owner did a terrific job stocking everything you will ever need. We even found chopsticks in the drawer! The collection of books and games in the house is beyond normal vacation rentals. I loved my morning coffee time on the deck, watching the clamers working in the distant bay, kids running back and forth through the woods. If you love the adventure digging the clams out of the mud, you will have so much fun. Lynda is the greatest landlord one can ever wish for. We were looking at a few other houses, and we chose this one because of Lynda. She is very easy to work with, responses quickly. She is kind and accommodating. I had a lot of questions about the property and the area. Lynda answered them with patience and gave me detailed information on all I was asking for. The area is quiet and remote, with reasonable driving distance to Acadia, which was exactly what we were looking for. Our vacation week was perfect and we all just wished we could have stopped the time! We will definitely stay here if we return to ME again.

Owner's reply:

Dear Jacklyn,
We very much appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments. It is so thrilling to us when our guests appreciate and enjoy their time at Cove House. We want your stay to be memorable - for good reasons, not bad! Delighted that you and your family had fun, and we hope you return to his part of Maine - there is so much to explore and see and do. Thank you.

Best Spot to Stay in Acadia!

September 14, 2015

We have been vacationing in Acadia for a while now, and didn't realize what we were missing until we stayed here. The location is the perfect mix of seclusion and access to the local area (Ellsworth, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, etc.). The house itself is wonderful. It's immaculate, spacious, well-furnished and has great character. More than enough room for our family of six! The view of the cove is amazing, and we could have made whole days of just sitting out looking over the cove and watching the tide. Nearby, Blunt Pond became a daily ritual for us for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. I can't like this place enough, and we will definitely be returning next year!

Owner's reply:

Hello Bill,
Such a treat to get your review! Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you, Sarah and the children enjoyed yourselves. Isn't Blunt's Pond great? So close by, clean, safe and family oriented. Cove House is away from the madding crowd, but close enough to get into it in short order.
Thanks for coming!

Perfect in every way!

September 4, 2015

Lynda and Chris were helpful from beginning to end. Cove house was everything we had hoped for and so much more. I wanted a fireplace, waterfront, cabin feel, privacy, relaxation, peace and rest. We were at the perfect place to get all of those things. It was so enjoyable to be either inside or outside. Everything that we really needed was already provided. Lynda the little touches you have in your home are wonderful and all the information was great. We found the house in the dark and was relieved that everything was so easy. We had driven all the way from Michigan and were exhausted! the bed upstairs was heavenly! I haven't slept that good in ages. Just a great place and great folks!

Owner's reply:

Thank you, Yvonne! We're delighted that you got to rest and relax at Cove House.
It is pretty quiet and peaceful overall with only the occasional call of the Cove's resident eagles.
Hope you make a return visit to this part of the world. Lots more to see and do!

Love, Love, Love This Cottage!

July 18, 2015

We could not have been more pleasantly surprised, when we arrived to see how very charming and beautiful this cottage was, decorated with homey touches, and emmaculate. The floor plan was absouletly gorgeous, with an open floor plan downstairs, and cozy upper balcony overlooking the living room. It was fully stocked for all our vacation needs too, with full kitchen/ cooking/ barbeque supplies, towels, linens, pillows sheets, blankets, etc. No need to pack anything but our clothes. Games included as well, for evening (or rainy day) entertainment. The location was perfect too! In a lovely, out of the way location. On a quiet wooded lot. Very peaceful, overlooking Frenchman's bay. Yet, as out of the way as it is, still very conviently located to nearby area attractions, such as Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor. I cannot rave about this place enough! It is absolutely perfect You will not be dissappointed if you stay here!

Owner's reply:

Dear Victoria,
We are thrilled with your review! It does our heart good when our guests enjoy their stay at Cove House and like it as much as we do.
Try it in the winter! It is a totally different scene, and very quiet.
Have a lovely summer.

Beautiful clean and cozy home with beautiful views of Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Home is new, well appointed and well equipped with everything you need, including basic spices, paper towels, toilet paper etc. Sits on a quiet cove where the view is ever changing. Deer walked through the yard in the morning, otters in the cove and eagles in the trees. The owners are wonderful hosts, before, during and after your stay. Pretty 10 minute drive to Ellsworth, 20 to 30 to Mt Desert and Bar Harbor. Be careful if you stay, you may not want to leave!

Owner's reply:

Thank you, Tom, for this wonderful review. Being a world traveler yourself, it is a great compliment to see what you say about Cove House in Lamoine, Maine! We strive to make it a home away from home so one can relax and enjoy what Downeast Maine has to offer.

A great place to stay!

August 25, 2014

We just spent a week at this vacation home and found it to be perfect. It is a lovely location right on the water in a quiet area about 6 miles from Ellsworth, Maine. It is roomy with three bedrooms which includes a very large bedroom with full bath on the second floor. It comes fully equipped and nothing lacking. We met the owners when we checked in and they are a delightful couple who make certain everything is just right. We rented the place with another couple and we unanimously agreed it was a perfect place to stay.

Owner's reply:

Hello Phillip,
It was a pleasure to meet you all. Clearly you came to relax and enjoy - just what vacations are for.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It's music to our ears when we get reviews like yours! We hope you will visit us again as there is so much to see and do in this neck of the woods.
Just know that we always welcome suggestions for improvement too.

The BEST close-to-Acadia rental!

August 21, 2014

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Cove House in Lamoine, ME. We have rented properties from Maine to the Outer Banks, and we have never had such a perfectly equipped/spotlessly clean rental experience. The location is awesome. Beautiful views in a quiet setting. An easy drive to MDI and all that Acadia and Bar Harbor have to offer, and then return to the serenity of Lamoine. Peaceful swims in Lamoine's Blunt Pond, searching for sea glass at Lamoine Beach. What a fantastic vacation. The house has everything you could possibly need. Plenty of fluffy towels, beautiful linens, comfortable beds, a fully supplied kitchen, deck, grill, and the list goes on.... Thank you Lynda and Chris. We will be back!

Owner's reply:

Hello Marcia,
We really appreciate your review. I must also say that you left Cove House in such a neat and clean condition, that Chris and I reduced our time preparing it for our next guests by over an hour! Many thanks to you and your family. We're so glad to hear that your vacation was as good as or better than you had expected. Blunt's Pond our grandchildren's favorite, but so is wandering around the cove's edges. I hope you consider Cove House when next you plan a vacation in Maine.

Wonderful relaxing retreat

August 3, 2014

Our family of five (2 adults and 3 kids -14, 12 and 8 years) all enjoyed having Cove House as our home during our visit to Acadia and MDI. We arrived in time to see July's beautiful Full Moon rise over the high tide in the Cove-what a way to start the vacation! The house is spacious, clean, and all the furniture is extremely comfortable. We immediately felt at home having the open areas to share, but also with enough space to have time to ourselves if needed to unwind. The tub in the master bath is fantastic-much bigger than it appears in the pictures. The loft was another favorite space-great views and a nice quiet area - excellent for reading, games, art or guitar playing. We had some rainy days, but still enjoyed the view of the Cove and surrounding natural surroundings from the roomy covered front porch and the many windows in the house, shopped and saw the Dorr and Abbe museums. On a misty day we ventured out to Fort Knox- a highlight of the stay with the 2 older kids who loved exploring the old buildings. We enjoyed checking out the local area with the quiet beaches in Lamoine, newborn goats and great cheese at Seal Cove Farm, the Lumberjack show in Trenton was really neat, and we happened upon a fantastic Pipe and Drum performance on the lawn of the Ellsworth library one beautiful evening, All are a very easy drive from the house and we did bike to Marlboro beach. Shaw's in Ellsworth was great for groceries, and other stores a 10 minutes drive and there is also a grocery right on the way back from MDI. We had no issues with the ride to MDI - getting to Acadia's Hull's Cove visitor's center in 20 minutes. You can catch the free Island Explorer bus to many places on MDI avoiding parking hassles at the top sights and in downtown Bar Harbor. We enjoyed getting back to the quiet in Lamoine each night and having that peaceful time in the mornings to sit and enjoy the view of the cove, or relax in the house. On MDI we loved paddling on Long Pond, biking the carriage trails, Cadillac Mountain's view, Bass Harbor Light and the Lulu Lobster Boat ride. Also, make time for Schoodic Point - Acadia on the mainland, another easy drive from Cove House-beautiful-rocks, crashing waves, solitude! Cove House lacks for nothing, you can make a wonderful dinner set with linens, or enjoy a casual meal-everything is there in a beautiful serene setting with easy access to all the major attractions. Lynda was a pleasure to work with and we hope to be back!

Owner's reply:

Thank you, Michelle. What a busy and fun time you had! Isn't it amazing how much there is to see and do? Your description of activities will help others who visit to decide on where to go and what to do.
We look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.
Warm regards,
Lynda

Relaxation Paradise

July 31, 2014

My husband and I along with our son, daughter in law, and 2 grand children, ages 4 1/2 and 6 months have just returned from a week long stay at the Cove House in Lamoine. This house has everything you could hope for in a cottage on the coast. The owner, Lynda, was very accommodating having a crib and playpen set up for us upon our arrival. When the tide is high, you can enjoy kayaking in the calm waters of Raccoon Cove .Sitting on the deck each evening was peaceful and quiet. The cottage was very clean, beds were extremely comfortable, and a fan in every room kept it breezy and cool to sleep at night. Our only drawback was the fact that you needed to drive to get to the nearest beach for swimming. We would highly recommend this cottage for a family looking for a quiet retreat outside Bar Harbor.

Owner's reply:

Dear Deb,
Thank you so much for your comments about Cove House. We always appreciate knowing that our guests enjoyed their stay. As for swimming - Raccoon Cove is certainly not the warmest, but our grandchildren and some of our guests, have ventured forth into its cold waters and enjoyed a bracing swim. I, for one, have never partaken of this delight.
Best wishes,
Lynda

Perfect home and location

July 18, 2014

Our family had a wonderful vacation at this home and at Acadia. The house is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. The owners have thought of everything to provide a comfortable stay: spotless; well equipped kitchen; comfortable beds; fluffy towls; great peaceful views of the cove; peaceful and quiet. It's located a short drive to Acadia National Park - both on Mt Desert and Schoodic; - and to a state and town beach on Frenchman's Bay. It is a short drive to several excellent grocery stores. We are looking forward to staying at Cove House again.

Beautiful house in a lovely location!

July 2, 2014

My family enjoyed a fantastic vacation in the beautiful Cove house. The house was spotless and had everything we could possibly need and then some. The kitchen has all of the needed supplies to cook at home. The view from the house is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed watching the tide changes and walking along the paths around the house. Lynda and Chris really go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasurable stay. They even provided us with binoculars, a cooler, books, videos, and a wealth of information on local places to visit. We were just a short distance from Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and local restaurants. I can't rave enough about how wonderful our stay was! I would highly recommend this house for your Main vacation!

Cove House in Lamoine, Maine offers the wonderful combination of spectacular views of the Maine coast, while providing a comfortable home to relax and enjoy your vacation. The owners have thought of everything, stocking the house with everything you might need for your stay. Absolutely Amazing

December 7, 2013

This is really a wonderful property. There were 5 of us 2 adults 3 teenagers. the house was perfect for us. The kitchen was well stock with kitchen utensils and even more items than we expected, like a big pot to cook lobsters in, and a cooler for our use.Plenty of extra linens and blankets to use. Loved having a washer and dryer to use, we all packed only 5 days of clothes in carry on bags for a two week stay, did not have to check our bags on the flight. We have stayed at many time shares and rented other homes and this one tops our list of favorites. We will definitely return to this home when we return. I would absolutely recommend this home to any one traveling to this area. Lynda, you have done a great job with the place. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Owner's reply:

Beyond Expectations

August 23, 2013

This is a lovely home with that is very comfortable with a great view. After driving through the pouring rain and arriving we all agreed that it was beyond our expectations...truly the best of Maine. It is near to many local beaches as well as Acadia National Park. Everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Owners provided a crib, pack & play, high chair and stroller which made packing for the trip with my family much easier. The home is absolutely beautiful with an open concept layout . So, while cooking, we could all be involved in the process. A short walk and sunrise over the cove can be viewed with the Acadia Mts. on the horizon. Very peaceful. We hiked and toured all day coming back to a relaxing and lovely vacation "home". I would recommend this as a great family vacation location and we hope to return next year.

Owner's reply:

Dear Joan,
We're delighted you enjoyed staying at Cove House! It is music to our ears when families are happy with what we provide to make their stay as pleasant as possible. Travelling with little ones has its own set of challenges, so we try to make easy for them while visiting Cove House. Thank you for your comments, and we'd love for you to visit again next year!

What a wonderful time we had at your cottage Lynda and Chris. It rained the whole time we were there but we enjoyed every moment of our stay! You made our visit to the Bar Harbor area just perfect. We live in an area of Pennsylvania that is so beautiful but to get away and stay in such a confortable place was just what we needed. (Oh, by the way, the Silverware was such a nice touch.) We did get to see the beautiful red fox and saw the evidence of the bear passing through. We were hoping to see more wild-life but since it rained so much they were all sleeping somewhere I guess. I would love to recommend the cabin for just anyone who would like to have a "real" vacation. Could not get any place better! I've been talking about it to everyone since I got home. Thank you again--and we will be back there as soon as we can. We would love to come up in the winter. Even if we got snowed in for a week it would be a wonderful place to be. Peace and fun

We had an amazing time at the Cove House! It is on the most beautiful cove with eagles, osprey, porcupine, and squirrel as constant companions. We have a 1 year old, and all baby amenities were provided!! The house itself has everything you could need, is so comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed hanging at the house, hiking in Acadia, exploring the surrounding area, and of course, eating lobster at local restaurants and at home (all supplies for cooking them at home are also provided!) We highly recommend the Cove House!

Owner's reply:

Dear Colleen,
We're delighted that you enjoyed Cove House! I'm so glad you used the baby items. Having grandchildren, I understand why it's so much easier for parents if they don't need to travel with all those extras. You need to carry enough as it is!
You are welcome any time at Cove House. It was a pleasure having you there.

Northern Exposure

This spectacular property provided a warm and welcoming "home" base from which to share with our kids (7 and 5) the many wonderful adventures my wife and I have cherished from Maine and Acadia - our 3rd visit to Mt. Desert. This cabin is so well appointed, we thought we were in a spec house from Log Home magazine. Early mornings on the bench, sipping coffee and watching the local clammers and lobstermen ply their trade in the cove, while the birds and wildlife romped about in the dawn light was the perfect start to every day and will be remembered forever. While close to all the popular attractions, Cove House also fosters exploration of the many smaller coastal towns often overlooked. We love exploring off the beaten path. We lacked for nothing (in accommodations and activities) during our stay. Biking, hiking, swimming, sightseeing, and of course...eating. Wish we had another week.
