Description of the Lawrence vacation home rental
This is the two-bedroom upstairs of a classic Cape Cod with a private entrance, full kitchen and bath. It sits in a large, parklike setting with trees, picnic tables, and a swing, secreted within a quiet cul-de-sac beside the popular Burroughs Creek Trail and a childrens' playpark, 6 minutes from Downtown or KU.

The spacious bedroom has a queen bed and sleeper sofa and connects to a huge closet (a separate room, in fact). The spacious living room has a breakfast nook, two comfy armchairs with ottoman, coffee table and a 32" flatscreen TV. The bathroom has a clawfoot-tub and a shower ring, while the kitchen has all the essentials--refrigerator, range, coffee maker, microwave, and a bagel-friendly toaster. While my personal touch can be found in the design and construction of these quarters, and in the little things (such as the Jack London portrait and the Lawrence aerial map); my lifestyle and my bric-a-brac are not underfoot nor in your face--this space is yours.

Guest Access
From the circular driveway you can step out of your car and be on your doorstep. This is a nice, calm neighborhood, and I hope that you will take advantage of the large yard with picnic tables (great for meals, reading and daydreaming), a swing and a firepit, big midwestern skies, and the long, paved trail where Lawrencians love to jog, push strollers and walk their dogs. The garage is the only part of the lot that is not available. If you're here longer than three days you may use the washer and dryer. Aaron, the neighbor next door, is an organic farmer and can often be seen tending his multitude of gardens

I'm new at this, and I want to make it work. I am a text or phone call away.

This is the Old East Lawrence neighborhood, great for walks, starry skies (great from my yard), history, architecture, and local flavor---tradesmen, artists, kids playing, and laid-back porch parties. I don't worry about crime here, and neither should you. The neighbors are quiet and respectful; I try to be as well.

Getting Settled
I like to greet my guests--and then leave the place to them. So if it is possible, I will meet you with keys and give you a four-and-a-half minute tour. Otherwise, I'll tell you the super-sneaky key hiding place and leave a page with a few notes on it.

It is easy to get here, but as it lies on a one-block long cul-de-sac, you can only acccess it from Haskell Avenue. From there, go west on 14th Street (you cannot go east!); last house on the right.

The washer and dryer are available at no charge for stays of three days or longer.

Area Information
You can walk to favorite places in Lawrence, yet also sit in the large yard and see the stars. The popular Burroughs Creek Trail--just next to the lot--will help you feel connected to the pulse of Lawrence (it goes half the way to downtown), at the same time it is appropriate to describe the location as secluded.

There is a swing in the beneath the big elm (see the photos), and picnic tables, one in the yard, the other on a porch. This home is at the very end of a peaceful cul-de-sac, and is within a brief walk to parks and a longer walk to stores and restaurants.
