Rocky Landing Cottage, Douglas Lake, Michigan

The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars was even though there were two bathrooms, there was only 1 shower. (The 2nd bathroom had a tub that no one used.) But the cottage was clean, comfortable, full of beautiful accessories. The kitchen and downstairs bathroom have recently been remodeled and are modern. But the cottage itself has a great rustic feel to it. (Plus if you forget a book, there are literally hundreds of books in the upstairs sitting area!) Douglas Lake is a beautiful lake. Not a lot of boat traffic. There was a great dock for swimming from. Also the porch was comfortable for relaxing and enjoying the lake. It's where we spent a lot of our time. Even though there were a lot of mosquitos in the woods, there was always a pleasant breeze at the front of the cottage on the porch and the "bugs" never bothered us. The bedrooms were spacious, yet cozy. The cottage had everything we needed for the 9 of us. Dishes, pots and pans, HUGE refrigerator, lots of towels, deck chairs, and water toys. Douglas Lake is a great location in the northern part of Michigan's lower peninsula. Close to Mackinac Island and many other Northern Michigan amenities. The owner was great to work with, always answering my questions in a timely fashion. Plus the caretaker was helpful. I also have to say, that compared to many rentals in this area, the price was very reasonable.
