About the area

Lake St. George is a well known fishing lake providing ample area for sailing and boating. One of the cleanest and clearest lakes in Maine, it is home to many loon families that cruise just off shore numerous times during the day. Do not be surprised to see deer and other wildlife around during your stay. Driving to Belfast, Camden, and other ocean front fishing towns provides a glimpse into Maine shore life and offers sailing and site seeing tours. Go to Lincolnville to the lobster shack and watch the island ferry while eating onshore. The Maine State Capitol of Augusta is nearby with shopping and historical sites. Freeport (home of LL Bean and the outlet shopping mecca) is an hour away. Bar Harbour is an easy day trip making this camp a great base camp for exploring the coast of Maine Spring and early season you almost have the lake to yourself. Fall provides great folliage viewing from this central location, and the lake is incredibly quiet.

“Perfect Vacation”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2017

We loved this house. The perfect spot on its own little cove, beautiful sunsets, excellent swimming and fishing. The house is immaculate with plenty of room to spread out. The owners are great to work with and very welcoming. We took day trips to Belfast and Camden and enjoyed great ice cream right down the road at John's. We look forward to a return trip.

A great location to explore when the foliage is at peak. This is a fabulous place for a families with kids! We love the shorefront at the camp with the lagoon and rock island in reach. It is a kids paradise!!! and the entire lake has lovely character. The camp is well provisioned with plenty of room and the hosts are wonderful to work with. No hesitation to give five stars and two thumbs up. Your family will have an awesome experience to cherish. Don't hesitate to book this place.

“peaceful lakeside getaway”

We had a great time staying here. My kids absolutely loved the swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The water was so clean and clear. Out of every place we visited this week the kids all said hanging out by the lake here was their favorite part of our trip. Great find and complete success for our family vacation.

The house was everything you want for a lakeside retreat. Clean, organized, boats, dock, dogs allowed that's important to us since our lab is a family member beds were comfy, had enough kitchen stuff to prepare meals, I didn't see a lobster pot but could of been one but we went Lobster pound. Good location to go to the coastal towns which are very nice. e didn't go there for TV we played games at night a little better TV for watching movies would have been nice. Other that that would definetly return! Still more to explore and more memories to make at this special lake property.

“Back to my roots”

We had an amazing time at the cabin on the lake! It easily fit my family and friends with room to spare. The kitchen was just right for cooking big meals and well stocked with utensils. Bandit the dog visited often for a game of fetch and my boys spent many hours fishing out in the row boat. I grew up in Maine and Liberty is centrally located to many fun things to do. I will definitely be keeping this one on the list of my favorite places to stay!

“Wonderful location with loons”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

Our family of five enjoyed our visit. The views of the lake are breathtaking. We heard loons throughout the day and evening too. It was wonderful. We used the canoe and paddled around the lake. We caught about two dozen large yellow perch using mepps lures. I would have liked to stay a few days longer to enjoy the fishing a little more. The location of the cottage is excellent with easy trips to Camden, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, and even Acadia National Park which is about three hours away. Kirstie has thought of everything you'll most likely need as the house well supplied. While the cottage is older, everything is very clean. My very particular wife was happy. I would highly recommend this cottage.

“More then we imagined...”

Our trip to Maine was incredible. The house is right on the lake which was great for fishing and kayaking. We were able to bring our two dogs which made the trip so much more relaxing, and they just loved the lake and hiking in the woods. The house had every we needed and then some. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the lake was so peaceful. We saw loons and an eagle and while fishing caught some big and small mouth bass. It was close to some great liitle towns we visited and about an hour from Acadia/Bar Harbor which is just spectacular. The house is very secluded and private with hiking trails everywhere. I can't name one thing that we didn't like except that our trip wasn't longer. We can't wait to go back.
