Absolutely wonderful experience. If you are looking for piece and quiet in a most unique part of Maine...this is the place to be. Waking up early to go in a kayak and discover the lake with the chance of seeing a moose or a beaver, it could not get better then this!

Relaxing family vacation

November 7, 2013

What a beautiful setting for a relaxing and adventure-filled vacation! We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin! It was so wonderful to have a comfortable cabin situated on its own private lake!! Our children (8, 6, and 3 years old) loved paddling around the lake in the kayaks. It was just the right size for a family adventure! The cabin provided a very comfortable place to stay, with plenty of space and very comfortable beds. It was also a very affordable price. Seating for dinner was a little tough for the 5 of us, but not a big deal. We also enjoyed the Lincoln location, because we were close to so many gorgeous and scenic places. We made a variety of day trips to really experience the Maine Highlands. We would definitely stay here again!!

If you like camping away from civilization to have peace and quiet in nature and not have to be in a tent but yet be close enough to get supplies then there's not much better than this. The cabin is a 9 mile drive from town on a private dirt road with only 2 cabins and a gate that you can lock and unlock manually. Electricity is supplied by a generator which you can turn on/off with a remote control. My wife and I loved it! With lights out at night you just hit the off button on the remote and enjoy dark and silence! Fortunately we had our own rechargeable devices/flashlights. The town of Lincoln is 9 miles like I said and has a variety of shops & stores (Dysarts Travel, Hanaford's, Walmart, Tim Hortons, Subway and a McDonalds that was unfortunately closed for major renovations) as well as some restaurants (Gilmores, Timberhouse, Wing Wah, JJ's Pizza & Subs, Lincoln House of Pizza and some others). There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor with bunk beds in one room and a loft bedroom overlooking the living area as well as a basement with washer/dryer. Cooking and hot water is on demand by propane and the fuel for the generator are all stocked for you by the property manager Ben. Ben is a good guy and you pretty much visit with him the first day and after that you're left alone unless you need something else. The main thing for us however was just relaxing on the deck or inside or even at the dock which is in the back yard on the pond. Our little Jack Russell/Chihuahua enjoyed it as well. There are a LOT of HUGE windmills nearby which we went to by driving the road across the way and are very cool and impressive up close. Also if you were to need it, the hospital is on the main stretch of road you take just about 8 miles away. The few things I wasn't aware of which I wish I was since I could have brought some other items had I known was there is a DirecTV dish but no receiver so I could've brought ours. So for TV watching, either Red Box/DVD's or output from tablet/laptop to HDMI like I did (I left my cable by accident for the next people to use)! As well I didn't know power was by a generator otherwise I would have brought some other rechargable items. Either way, you get over not having those but would have been nice to have them as well. Natalie & Thomas are good people and are fortunate enough to be able to travel so if you don't hear from them right away don't panic like I did! We will want to come back here for sure on a future trip

Two words: no electricity.

August 27, 2013

Given enough gas to run a very loud generator 6 hours a day for electricity. If I had known this before hand I would have never booked a vacation here. It claims great place to swim but the water is about a foot and a half deep and full of weeds. Shower knob was broken gas for stove wasn't even turned on and the outdoor grill had a family of mice living in it. This was anything but relaxing and could not wait to get home to cook a hot meal and take a hot shower.

A Peaceful Dream come true vacation ..

August 23, 2011

If you are looking for a true Maine vacation, complete with the amentities of home, and a peaceful private setting, this is for you. We loved the fresh smell of the woods , both inside and out, and sat outside on the porch enjoying the scenery after a long day of hiking in Acadia Nat'l Park, Visiting Baxter State Park,Bar Harbor, as well as Moosehead Lake. We shopped in Bangor about an hour away, and just 10 minutes away there was a grocery store, walmart, gas, and even a ColdStone!! We woke up every morning and went out on the Lake fishing, and kayaked on our "lazy" day all around the lake. We had the lake to ourself ! We especially enjoyed going out at dusk and photographing the beautiful sunsets and listening for Moose. One night we heard a bull calling across the lake,...The kids got so excited...There is a small dock from which you can fish off,and my 5 yr old son said that was his favorite part. The bedrooms had mattresses that were top of the line, and made us realize why we weren't sleeping so well at home...There's a big screen Tv w/ a DVD player, so we enjoyed a movie every night before turning in. If there is any downfall at all, it would be a shortage of space for a sit down meal, but we made it work just fine. Aside from the fact that anywhere you stay in Maine to see various attractions is a drive, coming back to this home was so well worth it. We cannot wait to plan our trip next year. The owner was extremely accommadating, friendly, and available if we needed to call and ask a question.. If you love the outdooors, want a place that is quiet and secluded, this is a place for you..I would also say it would be an ideal place for honeymooners or a couple needing some quality time away from it all..You cannot get more peace and quiet than this property!!!!
