Wonderful Experience

July 28, 2013

We rented the cabin for the 2013 Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. The cabin was in a beautiful, secluded location, was nicely decorated and had all the amenities of home. The view from the front porch is amazing! We really enjoyed our time at Winds Aloft and would rent it again in a thin instant.

Nice Weekend

Nice stay at Winds Aloft. Great view of Grandfather Mountain. Upon arrival I was worried that there was no ac, but even in this summer heat the cabin stayed cool. We had a restful sleep. It was stocked well with towels, toilet paper, etc.. Everything was in working order. There were only two concerns that I had about the place. One was the directions getting there. My GPS stopped at one cabin down, which was a little confusing up on the mountain. The directions that were given by the owner said that the cabin was on the right, but it was actually on the left and in a nook right across from another cabin. At first I was a bit disappointed being so close to another cabin, but Winds Aloft is sunken down the hill a bit and surrounded by many bushes. So, it gives you the feel of privacy, especially on the opposite side where you can view Grandfather Mountain. The only other thing of concern was that it was a bit dusty, not on the main surfaces like counters, etc.., but on the lamps, curtains and higher surfaces. It had an "old" grandma's house kind of feel to it. However, all in all it was a nice place to stay. We left feeling very relaxed and were able to spend some quality family time together. I'd stay there again.

Owner's reply:

Thanks for the review. I changed the directions and updated the information. GPS often doesn't work here in the mountains, but at least you got close! So many people are enjoying this "Grandma" cabin and it stays fairly busy.
