“Just Perfect!”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2015

Our entire experience was wonderful. Leslie asked for our flight and rental car info ahead of time by email. Our flight landed in San Juan at 11 p.m., and Leslie met us at the rental car counter to give us the keys, make sure we had clear directions, etc. She also asked if we would text her when we got into the penthouse, so she'd know everything was ok. We had 7 people, and only found 4 towels, so I texted Leslie. She texted the maid, who had simply forgotten, and there were more towels and washcloths by mid-morning the next day. Leslie answered all our questions whenever we had them, giving us directions to get breakfast, where to buy groceries, etc. We had 6 adults and 1 child, and it was a perfect fit for us. The beds were very comfortable, and everyone slept well. The pool and the beach are right there, and we enjoyed them both many times. We LOVED the roof terrace and had many lovely dinners up there, listening to the waves. So relaxing! It's also a great location. A short drive to all the things we wanted to do: Old San Juan, Fajardo, El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, and monkey island. I recommend this property without hesitation. It was just perfect for us.

“Beautiful Beach property”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

My family of 4 stayed at Richard's place during Spring Break, and had a really nice time. The beach was beautiful, beds were comfortable, terrace was fabulous, and Lesley as helpful as anyone could hope for. We chose this area in order to get a real feel for PR life, but still be within a 20-30 minute drive to everything. It worked out great and just as we had hoped. If there is anything to be critical about, it would be the keys - beach/pool copies don't work so well and caused some frustration.

“Warm, Firendly people, Great vacation!”

I originally booked this unit for a week in August for my family of 4. The day we were supposed to go there was a tropical storm in PR. The owner, Richard, graciously allowed us to re-schedule for January. I had never rented a villa before and was traveling with my adult son who has autism so I was concerned about everything being in place before we arrived and had many questions. Richard was great about returning phone calls and e-mails promptly and addressing every concern. The property manager, Leslie, was also wonderful. She met us at the car rental counter, gave us keys and directions and we followed her car until we were headed in the right direction. It was like having a freind there. She kept in touch with us, sent the housekeeper to give us an extra set of keys and gave us suggestions about shopping for food and places to visit. The condo felt very safe and like home. It was peaceful and comfortable and the roof top terrace was the best! We started each day with a perfect view and spent every evening star gazing and listening to the ocean. I also met JC, the property manager at Villa del Mar, who gave me lots of tourism tips and his phone number in case we needed anything. I'm really glad we stayed outside of the city where it was so much prettier. We had no problems driving through Loiza- the roads were fine and directions to everywhere were simple. We did bring our GPS from home which was very helpful. Opening the front door was a bit tricky until we got the hang of it. My husband found some lubricant that he put on the lock which also helped. We didn't use the pool or the beach because we needed a key to access those and the copies we had did not work well (JC was able to get them to work with great difficulty) and we didn't want to go onto the beach and risk not getting back in. My only suggestion to Richard would be to leave the original set of keys or have copies made by a locksmith so they are easier to use. The view of the beach is fantastic but it doesn't have a wide stretch of sand and the pools were not large but were uncrowded. We were very happy at Loquillo beach which was just a short drive away, very pretty and not crowded at all. The food there was great but the restrooms were not clean. Horsebackriding along the beach at Catch A Dream ranch in Rio Grande was a hightlight. We really love Pueto Rico! It's the perfect blend of tropical beauty and modern conveniences and we will definetly be back.

“Wonderful family vacation”

This three bedroom condo had great furnishings, comfortable beds, a terrace facing the ocean, located in one of the twin towers, (Sandy Hill Apartments), in the midst of LuQuillo, a working class village on the ocean near to the eastern tip of the island. Luqillo municipal beach/park is first rate, and swimming is safe; but without waves. Escondido, a couple miles east has great waves, with rip-tide challenges, and a reef for snorkeling, and is reached by a trek through the mangroves. Adjacent to the apartment is a mile of national park beach, a precious solitary experience for us. the pool was excellent. With I-66, and route 26, Old San Juan is just an hour away. We returned for a second day! For food, the 60 kyoskos along Rt 3 less than a mile away offer fast food to truly excellent dining. What an adventure! The village square has a first rate coffee shop/bakery . El Yunque rainforest is less than a half hour away. We hiked all day. For this family vacation, we rented both apartments, and eleven of us were very comfortable. 8 per unit is a bit tight. Luquillo is an optimum location, so many varied activities so close by. Puerto Rico means affordability, very, very friendly people, great music. Puerto Rico is a part of the US, meaning it does not have the subservient servant class native population catering to rich tourists. My family won't go to those places. Despite some economic challenges, this is one big happy family, and you will be part of it. We didn't see a single mosquito anywhere; but use DEET in the evening anyway to be sure. Be sure to request a second set of keys unless you want to be tied to being together 24/7. Everything is kept locked.

Thank you for renting us your home for such a fabulous vacation! The directions from the airport were so easy to follow and we very impressed by private, beautiful property. The condo is very well furnished and the rooftop terrace is AMAZING! The location is very convenient with a Walmart nearby, as well as being within easy driving distance to any tourist activities we wanted. Thanks for sharing your home with us, we'll definitely be recommending it to others!

We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed your condo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leslie left the keys for us at our rental car counter, so that was smooth. We came up with names for all of the lizards in the trees we could see each morning. Old San Juan is AMAZING, and we were able to do a snorkel trip but could not make it to Culebra due to rough weather. The beaches we did see were reallly nice. We did walk the rain forest also, which was great. So many good memories! Thanks!

“Perfect!”

We had such a great experience. We have three teenagers and they can not wait to come back to that place. This was the perfect spot for us: not to far from San Juan but not surrounded by big resorts, which gives a better idea of the local habits. The condo is ideally located a few steps from the beach - the waves help you fall asleep, not noisy. Most of the time we got the beach for ourselves. The top balcony gives you extra space for relaxing, great bbq and unforgettable sunset. We had trouble with our flights to get to San Juan at the expected time and Richard was very responsive and very flexible to accommodate our arrival. I would definitely recommend this condo.

“Amazing Beach Front Condo!”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

We had a fantastic stay at the penthouse during an April vacation from New England. The condo had all of the amenities you needed for a comfortable stay, and breakfast, lunch and dinner up on the deck could not be beat. Very centrally located as well! We were at the marina in Fajardo for scuba diving in under 45 minutes, in the midst of El Yunque Rain Forest in about 20 and once we found the drive through de Pinoñes we made it to the airport in under 30 minutes. And yes, the Walmart 10 minutes away was convenient for shopping. Richard was very responsive to all communication and Omar our POC was fantastic at helping with some details. Loiza may not be for everyone, but the complex, the penthouse itself and beaches were exactly what we were looking for. Highly reccommend.

The villa was very comfortable like home, the view was wonderful, and it was very quiet, it was near the rain forest, and 20 minutes from San Juan, we recommend it. the inside could need some fresh paint. The two swimming pool are very clean. Thank you for making our vacation so nice. Mona

My wife and I were lucky to acquire this unit. This unit was initially reserved for the builder of the "Villas del Mar" apartment complex before he decided to sell it. It turns out that this ideal vacation penthouse became available while we were staying in another unit. We went ahead and acquired it and we just love it. We always dreamed of having a true beachfront property. It is so close to the ocean you can hear the calming sounds of the waves with all the comforts of your home and then some.

Amazing catering provided by Concierge: Karla. Girl, where do we begin. We had such an amazing time at your house. First of all, Club Gasolina is on the roof. Where the shows take place and the performances are amazing. (You saw this for yourself when you cooked us that amazing meal!) We got very little sleep in the bedrooms. Spanish Barbie slept on the comfortable breathtaking couch. By choice. We LOVED LOVED LOVED our time in Villas del Mar. THANKS A MILLION! Wendy Walker

Waking up in the morning at Villas del Mar with the fantastic sun beaming in the open windows. The sound of the ocean while we eat pasteles and drink coffee on the terrace. LOVE IT. Ocean Sky, Wonder Sun, Maguiver Starr, Ivory, Stella Star and Coco Skyy. The sound of the beats, and the clicking of heels, the girls were primped and ready for a full fantastic day. Full of activities. Beach. Pool. Beach. Pool. Snacks. Gasolina. Showtime. Dolled up. Hitting Old San Juan to New Yorican. The Pumps Family took over. Wendy Walker

What could be better. Coming back on the strip full of fiestas patronales. (That means a festival full of people on the streets full of dancing, drinking, biking, as we drive through it, trying to get to Gasolina.) Every night was spectacular. Thank you so much for your wonderful house. God bless.
P.S. Don't forget - food and hospitality are available. And banging! Wendy Walker
