Description of the London vacation home rental
House: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms -- Sleeps 8 adults (Plus 2 infants)
YOUR FAMILY HOME IN LONDON: Free Wi-Fi - XBox(Wi-fi)
Situated in Zone 1, close to two Tube stations and with frequent buses to Waterloo, Westminster and beyond, it is the perfect base for a vacation exploring London.
Both Tube stations are less than a 10-minute walk away –– or take the bus and be at The Tate Britain, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey or The London Eye in 10-15 minutes!

We are have been renting out the house for many years – but are NEW to this site (please see our testimonials from the previous guests that we have accumulated over the years!)
And please note that this is a traditional British semi-detatched house, not an apartment. You would occupy the whole house – so no noisy neighbours above, or below!

The property has recently been totally refurbished and is supplied with everything you'll need to make your stay stress free and comfortable and cut down on your luggage.

There is a fully-loaded kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, microwave and fridge/freezer.
Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed and remote-controlled ceiling fans, and a third bedroom with full sized bunk-bed and a family bathroom with bath tub and power shower.

Downstairs there is a shower room, a lounge with double sofa bed, ceiling fan and flat screen TV and a dining room (seats 8) leading out to a patio garden.

Baby cribs and inflatable beds can also be supplied on request. The house is centrally-heated and double-glazed.

Linens, towels, bathrobes, slippers and 2 hair driers are supplied.

The house sleeps 8 adults (in beds/sofabed, plus we can provide 2 extra travel cribs for infants)
For relaxing at night, a selection of DVDs and Xbox 360 games are available (please ask, as we like to offer age appropriate films and Xbox games), as well as books and games.
There is free Wi-Fi. Also supplied are two pay-as-you-go phones for you to use during your stay – plus Oyster Travel Cards upon request.

We supply some basic food stuffs to get you started, after your long journey, such as tea, coffee (instant, decaff and filter), milk, bread, eggs, bacon or cheese, butter, cooking oil, olive oil and condiments.

If you would like us to have your own shopping ready for you when you arrive we can arrange that for a small fee of £10, or you can order it online and have it delivered and we will put perishables in the fridge.

If you have any special requirements, please let us know and we will do our best.

Check in is 4.00pm. Check out is 10.00am.

If you are arriving early, we can (usually) look after your luggage until the 'official' check-in time, so you can fit in some early sightseeing.
We try to be as flexible as possible with arrival and departure times.

There is a total no smoking policy in the house, but guests may smoke in the garden.

Daily Parking Permits can be arranged, the current cost is £5 per day.

We are nearby, so are always on call for any queries.

We look forward to making your stay in London a wonderful experience and hope to welcome you back again and again.
Area Information
The house is situated in a safe, quiet, residential street and with space to spread out and relax (a scarce commodity in most London holiday apartments) it is perfect for families, couples, or larger groups. On quiet nights you can even hear Big Ben strike and the River Thames is just a short walk away.
The new American Embassy is being built nearby, very close to the famous MI6 building (of James Bond fame!)

There are two 'Local' express supermarkets 5-minutes away, plus cafés, delis and restaurants, all within easy reach. There are also two gyms nearby to work off the calories.

Very comfortable home in London - great base for touring! (5/5)

Date of Stay : 27th August, 2016

We were greeted by Bev and Jeff when we arrived at their home on August 27th for an 8 night stay, and it was just as the photos indicated.

Very clean and cozy, and enough room for our 3 teenagers and the 2 of us (great to have 2 bathrooms!).

They take pride in their home and took care to walk us through all the amenities. It was great being able to order groceries ahead of time and have them arrive at the home just as we arrived, knowing the Jeff and Bev would have taken them in for us had we been late at the airport.

Their location is very accessible to the bus and tube (Vauxhall Station) and we could easily get to all of the historical sites we visited.

When the weather got warm at night, they even helped us get enough fans so that everyone was comfortable.

Loved that all the extras were available - tea, coffee, sugar, etc.

Enough seating in the living room for the whole family to watch Mr. Bean every night!

Having the oyster cards available to us was another bonus. Many extra perks were available, almost too many to mention.

Thanks again Bev and Jeff for a very memorable and enjoyable stay with our family in London!

When we arrived we were given a very warm welcome. Jeff and Bev gave us a personal tour of the house. There was a lot of information available about London (maps, where to eat etc.). They provided us with Oyster cards for public transportation.
The house was impeccable, well equipped kitchen, towels, soap etc, etc, there was even food in the fridge.
All public transportation is at walking distance. We drove to London by car and parking our car in front of the house cost us only £5 per day.
We certainly recommend this house to everyone who wants to stay in a well maintained, clean house in London with very helpful owners.

Jeff & Bev's property is located in a nice, safe, and quiet neighborhood. It's a 5 minutes walk from a bus stop and 10-15 minute walk from Vauxhall tube station. There are several quality restaurants (check out A Toca, a wonderful Portuguese restaurant that Bev recommended to us) and grocery stores within a 5 minute walking radius. Jeff & Bev anticipated our every need and provided us with umbrellas, a large selection of books/maps of the local and tourist attractions in London. They also provided us with 2 cell phones, Oyster Cards, and grocery items to last for the next 24 hours. Of course, none of this was expected but was surely appreciated. The home is spacious, pristine, and extremely comfortable. We are a family of 7 (2 adults and 5 kids, ranging from age 2-16) and was perfect for us.
I will happily recommend this property in London. In fact, we are already planning our return to this fine home next year!

There were 7 people in our group, 5 adults and 2 children. The house was big enough & very comfortable.
The furnishing and equipment were good, and there's a little terrace at the back of the house. Everything was clean and comfortable and there was plenty of food in the cupboards and refrigerator.

Last, but not least Bev and Jeff are really friendly and helpful people. They answered every question we had, provided us with "Oyster Cards" to get on the buses and subway. There was a lot of tourist information available.

The house is situated in a small street, it was really quiet and calm.

We enjoyed our stay very much and can recommend this property to you, if you are looking for a nice accomodation.

Our family of 6 from Canada loved our home away from home at 4 Thorparch Road. We were welcomed by Jeff & Bev when we arrived, had food in the fridge and fresh flowers in our entry way. They made sure we had everything we needed to get around London - umbrellas, travel books, and advice on transportation.
The location is great. Quiet neighbourhood that is still close to grocery stores, good transportation and restaurants.
It worked so well for us.
We stayed 2 weeks and Bev even changed the sheets on our beds and gave us clean towels for the second week. Nice touch!

This was our first time using H***Away. We weren't sure what to expect. My husband, in laws and our 3 teens stayed for a week. I highly recommend staying at Jeff and Bev's. Our every need was anticipated: from umbrellas being available , maps and local guides, restaurant recommendations, Oyster cards, robes, slippers, even fixings for our first breakfast! My kids could unwind after a long day of sightseeing by watching their huge movie selection. We wanted for nothing! We felt immediately welcome and right at home. It was a perfect spot and close to the underground and buses. The house was spotless! They set the bar high for other lodgings. You can tell they take great pride in providing stellar lodging and definitely a home away! We will definitely be back!!!

Impeccably clean, laundry facilities, grocery staples left for you, cell phones to borrow, enough tourist info available to ensure you don't get lost. Restaurants, Grocery stores and bus terminal nearby. Any problems, Jeff and Bev are right next door !!

We had a family of four (with two twenty year olds) and our five day stay here was wonderful! Jeff and Bev are wonderful hosts and as noted in other reviews the house is prepared with everything you need, including supplies for a lovely breakfast or two. We took their advice and used the Simply Airports car service to deliver us from Heathrow to the house. It was stress free and got us to the house quickly which is very nice after a long flight. We walked to the Vauxhall tube station everyday as it was only 10 minutes away. From there, London attractions are easily accessible. There was also a small but nicely stocked grocery store (Waitrose) at Vauxhall which allowed us to pick up our supplies. We ate at Ocean Blue (fabulous fish and chips) and at A Toca (wonderful Portuguese restaurant where two people can easily share one entree). Both of these restaurants are within a 10 minute walk from the house and are highly recommended.
As they say, location is everything and this house is in the perfect location to see the sights of London. The area is very quiet and we always felt safe. We would definitely return and have already recommended this house to a few friends.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. The location is great. It was a short 10-15 minute trip to Westminster. The neighborhood had good, affordable restaurants that were recommended to us. The house was great and everything was clean. The kitchen was well stocked. They even had some food in the fridge when we arrived so we didn't have to rush out in the morning for breakfast. Everything went perfectly with the trip. If we ever return I will rent from them again, but I will have to plan ahead as this place is booked months in advance.

There were 6 of us staying for just over 2 weeks. None of the previous reviews exaggerated anything. Everything was clean and more supplies than I had expected. Laundry and dish washer pods, shampoo and bath wash. Even though it said basic frig. stuff would be there, I didn't expect to have enough food for breakfast, eggs, bacon, cereal and bread etc. Also if you are American you do not need any converter adapter plugs as each room had at least 2 per room. The 2 little phones were a God send as would be the oyster (travel) cards. We had already purchased ours on line.
We used the car rental Bev recommended - Simply Airport - on 4 trips and were very pleased with the service. For 6 it was cheaper than using the tube and with luggage we would have needed a taxi for part of the ride. 2 of the trips were early morning and late at night and the tube isn't running at that time.
I would not hesitate to recommend Bev and Jeff and 4 Thorpatch Road to any one looking for a first class place to stay, close to downtown London.

Bev and Jeff were wonderful hosts. The house was perfect for our family of 5 (a couple of more people could fit comfortably too). I had read many great eviews before booking so I expected and received great service at a nice home.
The location is very quiet. The easiest way to go is to take a double decker bus into the City. There is a popular route that goes nonstop from the house, stops near Westminster Abbey and continues Trifalgar Square. Late at night we took the tube to Vauxhall station and then took a very short taxi ride to the house.

Ana

This was my second stay in this lovely home. As usual, Bev and Jeff were wonderful hosts and the house spotless and welcoming.
What made my stay even better? Bev stocked the fridge with some of my favorite items (mature cheddar, yum!) which she recalled I favored from my previous visit.
How can I consider staying any where else when I feel like a welcomed family member instead of a paying guest?
Next year can't come quickly enough!

Where shall I start? Jeff and Bev are such fantastic hosts. The house was nice and tidy. Very confortable and had a provision of everything imaginable (hairdriers, european conversion plugs, umbrellas, toiletries.......). They left in the fridge some bacon, cereales, a cake, bottle of wine as gifts). But also the kitchen was stored with mugs, plates, glasses, frying pans, microwave, oven, dishwashwer..... as well as coffee, sugar, salt, tea, oil, soap, cloths, washing up líquid....
We were a group of 11 people (6 adults and 5 children aged 5 till 15) and were confortable in the house. The area is quiet so we had no problems with the noise. It's situated within easy reach of public transport. The deposit was returned within 7-10 days from our arrival tome. I recomend the house and I will certainly book it again if I travel in a large group.

It is one stop from all the major downtown sights . We were a group of 8 and had plenty of room as the home is well set up . There are wonderful touches like lux robes and slippers for each person, breakfast staples for your first day and converters on all electrical outlets . We would not hesitate to come again and the owners were a huge bonus with their delightful stories and helpful travel tips , maps, cell phones for use ,and take away menus .

We had a fantastic stay at Jeff and Bev's home in London. The location was perfect with only a short walk or bus pride to Vauxhal, then to anywhere! We stayed with four adults and three children (6, 4 , 8 weeks) for eight days. The kids loved their bunk beds and the house had a good amount of kids entertainment to keep them going when in the house. The location is a 10-15 minute bus ride to Batersea Park which has possibly the best kids playground we have experienced, a wonderful walk along the Thames, and an exceptional small mammal zoo. The hosts were so friendly and a wealth of helpful travel information. Also they provided extra amenities that truly made the stay comfortable (get you started food in the kitchen, cell phones to use in town etc.). Absolutely wonderful stay and we would definitely stay again!

I had an absolutely lovely stay at Bev & Jeff's flat with 7 other adults for a one week stay. All previous reviews I had read for 2015 were spot on: accessible to Underground, all necessary kitchen items available for use, linens/bathrobes for each guest, etc. I have rented apt/condos/flats in various places before but this was the first time the hosts not only provided basic condiments, they also gave us a few perishable stock items for arrival as well which was much appreciated. The coffee snobs in our group *did* prefer their own blend of beans which they brought with them so if you are particular about your morning joe before tackling London, perhaps bring your own (FYI, I did not see a coffee bean grinder as an available appliance).
My friends & I were really thankful for the opportunity to do a quick luggage drop off on our day of arrival prior to check-in, it allowed us to enjoy the remainder of our first day in London without dealing with what to do with our bags. The flat is about equally distant to Vauxhall and Stockwell Underground stops via walking and we found the neighborhood to be a safe one. Only noise we heard at night was a pair of foxes fighting (literally, two red foxes) outside one of the windows!
Loved the modern décor of London/Underground motifs and as 8 adults, we did not feel crowded. The bunk-bed room was a little cozy for 2 full sized adults but certainly manageable and since all we did was sleep there, it barely mattered.
I really have no complaints about our stay, it was the perfect way to enjoy our visit and I would definitely consider staying here again upon a return visit.

Excellent choice for a family visiting London. Jeff and Bev are great hosts. As said in previous reviews they have thought of everything: from oyster cards for transportation, equipment for the rain, to cell phones (to avoid spending too much money with our foreign numbers)…. there was everything one could think of in the house, nothing was missing. We were there with our 4 children. There were books, dvd’s, toys, crayons, internet and a playstation. After a long and exhausting day walking around London it was great to be able to feel at home and relax with the children in the evenings. The house is in a quiet and safe road and area. Transportation is near by. It was very easy to get into the center of London. The bedrooms were very comfortable.
Jeff and Bev live next door. They are extremely discrete people but are there as soon as you need them.

There were 4 adults in our group. We all loved staying in this home. As other reviewers have noted the house is equipped with every item you could need. Bus 77 is a quick walk from the house and can take you to nearby Vauxhaul station or even directly into London. We enjoyed walking to the Priory Arms Pub for dinner. We hope to stay in this home the next time we visit London.

All of the great reviews are true! Our group of 9 (7 adults and 2 preteens) stayed at Jeff and Bev's home for our first trip to London and our stay was perfect. The house is equipped with more than you would ever find in a hotel room. Umbrellas, rain ponchos, reusable shopping bags, oyster cards, cell phones, electrical outlet converters for every plug... You name it the house had it. It was also a great location just a few minutes walk from the bus stop and a 10 minute bus ride to most major attractions. The kitchen was stocked with breakfast items for our first day. We loved having more space than a hotel would have afforded. We enjoyed the lovely patio as we had great weather during our stay. I would not hesitate to book again and Jeff and Bev are most gracious landlords!

This is a wonderful home to rent in London. We were a group of 7 and very comfortable. Jeff and Bev are amazing hosts and have thought of everything to make their guests feel comfortable. They even got a birthday cake for my son when they found out we would be there for his birthday. I can't say enough how great they are. The location is convenient to public transportation and we had no problems getting around. I do recommend getting a travel card, made things easier.

This is the second time I have stayed with my family at Jeff & Bev's lovely home. There were 6 of us three years ago, when we stayed for 5 days. At that time 4 other family members rented an apartment in the Kennsington area. Their apartment was much larger, but it lacked amenities such as a cell phone for us to use while in London, WiFi, basic breakfast foods, bathrobes, slippers, and electric conversion adapters. This time there was 5 of us, and we made Jeff & Bev's home in London for 8 days. The accommodations are comfortable, about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, convenient to groceries and a quiet location. Jeff and Bev, the landlords are next door, but you would never know it. They are there for you without being at all intrusive. I would not hesitate to stay here again if ever in London again. Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend this home. I stayed with my family of 5. It offers many advantages including plenty of space, a full kitchen, great location to buses and a quiet residential street.
The home itself was in excellent condition - clean, well stocked and the owners welcome you themselves. They make sure that you are prepared for sightseeing and even left the kids some toys and us some London sightseeing information. They are very accommodating and are nearby should you need anything.

I took my family of seven to London as a celebration for all of my children graduating from college. We rented Jeff and Bev’s place off the w**site. Everybody told me I was nuts to do this but it turned out to be the best thing for our vacation. First Jeff and Bev are great hosts or landlords whatever you want to call them, they are great. The place is clean and well maintained. They have two local cellphone for you to use while there as well as they provide the Oyster cards for the public transportation system. They have umbrellas and ponchos for the rain as well as shampoo and hair conditioner. These are just a few of the amenities they provide.
The facility is terrific. If you have watched house hunter international on HGTV you know how small the places in London can be. This place was large by London standards and nicely furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and they even had bread and milk and coffee and tea for you to make when you arrived. The patio in back is nice for the occasional cigar and brandy (no smoking in the house, thank goodness).
The location for a first time visit to London is simply great. It is 10 minutes to any of the attractions you will want to visit, it is rare to find a place this large this close to downtown London. Their recommendations on airport service was terrific. I would encourage you to use UBER, it is about ½ the cost of London taxis and just as good service with quicker response time if you do not want to bother with the Bus or the Underground.
Up until this trip, our best vacation had been to Round Hill in Jamaica, however, with this trip and the hospitality of Jeff and Bev and Jeff’s clues on bus routes and when to hit the scenic places, the whole family has now agreed that London has become our “best ever” vacation. My oldest son’s comment to me on the way to the airport was “Dad, you’ve ruined me, now I want every vacation in London,” and that is in no small part a result of the accommodations of Jeff and Bev’s.
Recommend without reservation, by the way as a testament to their integrity, they are the only place I have ever stayed that refunded the full security deposit. Thanks Jeff and Bev for a great vacation.

I traveled to London from the US and met my family at this property for our one week stay. Jeff and Bev were there to great us and ensured we had everything we needed. The apartment was stocked with basic groceries, linens, robes and slippers, hair dryers, basic toiletries, umbrellas, ponchos, and grocery bags (many stores charge you to use their bags). It was a great apartment for our family of four. Jeff and Bev live in the attached apartment and are always available if you have questions or need help, and they are very friendly. The apartment was clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. We felt very safe and comfortable in the apartment and neighborhood.
The apartment has four oyster cards that you can fill up with money, the oyster cards are used to pay for all public transit options in London including the bus, train and tube. It is only a five minute walk to the nearest bus stop and a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest tube station. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood.
We had a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend this property. Thanks to Jeff and Bev for everything!

This was the first time I considered a property such as this for a vacation rather than a hotel. I did a lot of research online before choosing this particular property, but in the end you're still “taking a chance”. We were glad we did.
The owners (Jeff and Bev) are very pleasant and were instrumental in giving us useful information concerning London, the transportation systems and information in general. They saved us a lot of time and trouble in our planning.
The property is accurately described on their w**site. It was clean and well maintained. The neighborhood felt safe and was certainly located in a good spot. Transportation was close by via bus and the subway station at Vauxhall station a short distance away. The Oyster cards that Jeff and Bev have are easily topped off at local stores and can be used on both the buses and subway. We seldom used cabs as a result. There are many restaurants in the area. There are some small grocery stores and markets in the area that have an acceptable variety of products. I understand that there was a supermarket near by which is closed now temporarily for construction. (Note: The construction area is not close enough to disturb your stay.)
Jeff and Bev were very professional during the financial arrangements which were easily accomplished via Paypal. They promptly returned our deposit as agreed.
I would certainly recommend this property and hope to stay there again in the future.

Our group, a mix of adults and teenagers, stayed in this charming house while on vacation in London. It was difficult to find a house that would accommodate our group in a location close to the center of London so we were thrilled when we found this property and read the great reviews. We appreciated all the care and attention Jeff and Bev provided. They have really gone above and beyond to make the house comfortable and the home is an excellent value for your travel dollars.
We primarily used the two bus routes that stop near the house to do our sightseeing. There are a two grocery/convenience stores within a couple of blocks for any snacks or food items you may need. Vauxhall tube stop and train station are about a 10-15 minute walk from the house along a fairly busy street with the house being located on a quiet street one block away.
Photos of the house are very accurate and represent the accommodations well. Everything was very clean and tidy. We would highly recommend renting this property! Thanks Jeff and Bev!

We stayed at Jeff & Bev's house for five nights with four adults and two boys of 12. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners who showed us around the house and provided useful information about getting around with public transport. We have been renting apartments and houses in different parts of Europe over the last 15-20 years but we have never come across such a perfectly equipped holiday home as this one. As Bev said: "bring your toothbrush and you'll be fine". The kitchen was stocked with everything for the first breakfast the next day (toast, milk, eggs, bacon, cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee), the bathrooms were supplied with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner (for men and women), maps, guidebooks, even umbrellas were there and you are provided with two mobile phones! The living room has got a huge TV with an Xbox, games and DVDs, the kitchen is fully equipped and everthing was in an immaculate condition. If the weather had been better, we would have been able to use the nice patio in the back garden. The bedrooms (with bathrobes and slippers provided) are of great sizes as well as all the other rooms. Although it seems to be in a busy part of town, you don't hear any traffic noise except for some airplanes landing at Heathrow but we are used to that since we live close to Frankfurt airport and they are still pretty high there (it's not Hounslow!). From the house you get easily to Vauxhall station (either by bus or foot) to take the tube or various bus lines into every part of the city. To be honest, I visit London almost every year and I have never experienced such a perfect accomodation with such lovely hosts as Jeff and Bev. A true home away from home. You can't get better value for your money in London!

Our family of 5, which includes 3 teenagers, rented the property for 5 nights and could not have been more pleased. Notes:
* Great location, less than 5 minute walk to the bus stop. Bus 77 will take you to London Eye and on to Waterloo Station. Bus 87 takes you over the Thames and through Parliament area onto Trafalgar Square. Sit on top of the 87 for great London views. Both buses stop at Vauxhall, which has a tube station.
* Price and Size; I thought it was an excellent value. You will appreciate the ability to spread out and relax after a long day of touring London. I do not think our trip would have been as enjoyable if the 5 of us had to go back to a cramped hotel room(s). WIFI included!
* Bev and Jeff are great people; very nice and friendly, eager to help you and answer your questions. They are also experienced travelers, which benefits you as they understand your needs. The kitchen comes with basic food (bread, milk, juice, coffee, eggs and bacon) for your first breakfast (saves an initial trip to the store), kitchen is stocked with condiments, spices and oils, umbrellas and rain panchos are provided, Oyster cards (you may have to charge them, but you save the £5 cost per acquiring each card; you leave the cards behind for the next guest) and guide books.
* Email correspondence was promptly replied to. All financial affairs were handled per terms.
Our family highly recommends this property. When we return to London, we already know where we are staying.

No More Hotels for Me! (5/5)

When I travel, I usually prefer full-service hotels. I have not had great experiences with vacation rentals in the United States. Some were too cluttered with the owner’s own paraphernalia, as they only rented out certain weeks of the year, some were dusty to downright dirty, some were spotless, but expected you to cart everything to the house (all linens, bath supplies, cleaning products, condiments, etc). If there was a problem, you had to go through the rental agency and hope someone would respond. None of these made for a great vacation experience in my mind (or a relaxing one!).
So when I first heard of this house in Lambeth, I didn’t really consider staying there…until I started hearing and reading the rave reviews. Poking around the V**O w**site and seeing the lovely photos and reading all of the details, I decided to take the plunge. Happily I was able to reserve the house for my short stay in February.
As advertised, Bev met me at the door…despite my arrival at the very early hour of 7:00am. She gave me the grand tour, showing me how everything worked and where everything was. The house was positively spotless with every surface gleaming.
I asked Bev about stripping the beds and cleaning up when we left and she responded that was not for us to worry about. Honestly, it was the best of both worlds…a private home with the service of a boutique hotel!
I was a little concerned that I would feel like I was too far away from the center of London (on my last trip I stayed at Charing Cross in the thick of things), but that was not the case at all. As advertized, there were two busses that would whisk us to either side of Westminster Bridge in ten minutes or less. It couldn’t have been easier to get around. There are also a ton of restaurants and pubs in the area if you want to grab something quickly.
I am always a little sad at the end of my vacation and leaving London. For the first time I was also sad to leave my house (notice I said MY, lol). It will be a couple of years before I get back to London, but I know for certain where I will be staying!

If you are traveling to London, look no further than this house. Bev and Jeff are the ultimate hosts, offering everything you could possibly need during your stay. Their communication is outstanding, and they provided many tips before we arrived including where to order our Christmas meal. The even allowed us to have presents delivered to their home. Bev and Jeff are well traveled and put a lot of thought into what they would want in a guest house. We had a Christmas tree, decorations for our table, food in the refrigerator, oyster cards for the metro, cell phones to contact them at anytime, blowdryers, umbrellas, an xbox, robes, slippers, and every travel guide ever written about the city. The house is on a quiet, residential street, and the bus stop is about two blocks away. The metro is about a 10-minute walk but the bus drops you off at the station. The grocery is right around the corner. If you wanted to walk to Big Ben, it is a little over a mile and a lovely walk along the Thames. Bev and Jeff are people you feel like you have known your whole life and the house is exactly as shown in the pictures. We will return someday and have told our friends about the house.

My family of 6 - 4 adult children - just got back from a family Christmas in England. We stayed at this house in Lambeth for the first 4 days and couldn't have been happier with the house, amenities, and hosts. Jeff and Bev think of everything you will need. The house is exactly as the pictures show, very clean and in a good, quiet location. The tube stop at Vauxhall is a 15 minute walk, but the buses run to within 5 minutes of the house. The Sainsbury grocery store is just a 3 minute walk down the street. Jeff and Bev had the refrigerator stocked up with eggs, bread, milk, juice and jam - just what we needed after a long overnight flight from the states. And tea, coffee, honey and sugar in abundance! The 2 bathrooms are new, clean and have heated towel racks. We also each had a robe and pair of slippers ready and waiting for us! There were adaptors in every outlet, a hair dryer in my bedroom, books of pubs, maps of London, recommendations of places to eat nearby, movies and dvds, everything you needed to feel at home. They even had a Christmas tree up in the dining room with Christmas crackers for us and a box of Cadbury cookies for our tea. Jeff and Bev really want you to enjoy your stay in London and try to make everything easy and convenient for you at the house. The area is quiet but very close to the river with Big Ben and the London Eye off in the distance. We did walk along the river most nights and it was a pleasant stretch of the legs.
As for Jeff and Bev and the vacation rental process, that was also flawless! We booked the house 6 months ahead of time, after many hours of searching and reading reviews. We also had no problems with the paypal process. Jeff was very good about contacting me with details and offers of help in planning our stay. And he promptly returned the security deposit within a week of our departure. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay here again and would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting a great place to stay in London, at an affordable rate and with reliable owners!

The fridge was stocked for us to snack on, all of us had a bathrobe and slippers available, video games for children, shower gel and shampoo in each bathroom. We felt like home. The house is very well located, spacious and very functional, close to all the amenities for transport (bus, subway) in a very quiet area. A supermarket is 3 minutes walk and everything needed for cooking the morning and evening. Ideal for families with small children. If we return to London, we will not hesitate a moment to return home Jeff and Bev. I recommend without hesitation for rent !!!!

This was a perfect rental for our family of 4. The house is on a quiet street, yet it is a pleasant walk to the sights of central London- about 40 minutes to Big Ben if you take your time, and most of that way is along the river. If that walk is too much, there is a bus stop 2 minutes away with quick service to either side of the river in central London. The grocery store is also only 3-4 minutes walk.
Inside, the house is clean and well stocked. The two full baths were great for getting everyone ready quickly. Jeff and Bev are awesome hosts. The loaner mobile phones and the free Oyster cards were just icing on the cake.
I would recommend this to anyone except those seeking exciting nightlife nearby.

After staying in several different hotels throughout the UK and Ireland, it was so relaxing to be able to settle in and relax for several days in one location. After a day or so, I started to call it home! It was a quiet and restful place to stay after a long day of exploring, and I would love to return some day.

The owners gave us a warm welcome and even had basic groceries for us. They were gracious and very accommodating. The location was great. Close to bus and Tube access. The neighborhood quite and really gaves a feel for living in London. Not far from the river either. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is a very conveniently located three bedroom duplex in Central London with easy access to EVERYTHING! The property owners stocked the fridge with breakfast items (we arrived late in the evening on the 16th), provided prepaid cards for use on the metro and on buses, provided cell phones for our use in London, and stocked the duplex with helpful guide books and umbrellas. The duplex has two modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water for showers, a newly remodeled kitchen, a flat screen television in the living room, and a lovely patio area with a table and chairs. Jeff and Bev are SO fun and thoughtful. We were three adults travelling and were VERY comfortable during our stay.

Arrived very early but Jeff and Bev were very kind and let us dump our luggage off and had arranged parking permits for our son's car, this in itself is a massive plus for a family staying in London as it is rare to find a property with this benefit.
The house was as described ( in my opinion also rare!! ) Our family consisted of 4 adults and 2 grandsons and there was plenty of space for all of us.
Wonderfully stocked cupboards and so nice to have the fridge stocked with essentials, especially after a long journey. Literature on the sights, local supermarket and buses on the doorstop - this was great for me as I don't do tube and my Grandsons thought going on a bus was fantastic fun.
Location great and nothing was to much trouble, Bev and Jeff even supplied mobile phones to contact them in the event of emergencies which must be amazing for overseas visitors.
So many extras at the house - dressing gowns, slippers, shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, nice towels and hairdryers, x box and good selection of books and games, better than most Hotels we have stayed in when visiting London.
If you are looking to visit London with your family this is ideal, very reasonably priced and you can get the kids to bed after a long day and relax - Jeff and Bev even brought us a bottle of wine because the outside light wasn't working - what more could you ask for - perfect holiday and hosts. Thank you very much from all of us.

My husband and two teenage boys stayed at the Lambeth house for a week this July. The home was just as described, and there was more than enough room for the four of us - we could have easily fit another family. The home was clean and well stocked with everything we needed as well as many welcome extras - Fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers for all of us, shower amenities, and all of the supplies we could need in the kitchen to prepare some of the meals at home.
The front dresser was full of tour books and local guides for our use, umbrellas, rain smocks, and reusable shopping bags for the very short walk to the local Sainsbury's for groceries. We were provided 2 pay as you go cell phones to use to contact the owners, as well as oyster cards we could load for use on the buses and tubes. The bus stop is very close to the property, and given the nice weather, the tube stations are only a short walk away - as is access to the river walk along the Thames with many restaurants and cafes. We felt like we were a short ride from everything we wanted to see.
Jeff and Bev were excellent hosts and were there to greet us on our arrival, go through the workings of the house, as well as provide us some details about the local area. They had also stocked the fridge with items for our first breakfast - eggs, bacon, milk, juice and bread - very appreciated after a long day of travelling, and the cupboards had a good selection of spices and condiments. In addition, there were ceiling fans in the living room and all bedrooms, as well as electric fans as well - very welcome as the weather was quite warm during our visit, as well as a little garden with tables in chairs in the back.
We had one concern during our stay - the iron we were provided was not working properly. After a text to Jeff, we returned later that day to find a brand new iron and fresh flowers as well! What wonderful service.
Jeff and Bev also met us on our last day, and were kind enough to help arrange a car service after the taxi we booked did not show up.
I would highly recommend this rental, and we look forward to returning to London in the future and staying at the house again!

Our family of four stayed here with my mother-in-law and nephew for three nights--it was ideal! The location was easy to get to via underground and bus, and so much better than staying in a hotel. Jeff and Bev took great care of us, even having the fridge stocked with some basics. There's a Sainsburys just up the road that's open until 10pm, so we were able to please our picky eaters and save a little on eating out. If you need (or just want) more space than a single hotel room can supply, I highly recommend staying here. Three bedrooms, two full baths, ceiling fans and a garden out back that's perfect for a morning cup of coffee and a book. I've been to London several times, but I enjoyed this vacation the most. We would LOVE to stay here again!

We had a stay at this fantastic venue from June 20th to 24th, and was very pleased with the stay. Everything was like described in the add, or even better. We were 4 adults, 2 children and 1 infant, and didn’t have any problems to fit in. We walked and used public transport to explore London, and we even got transport cards from Bev and Jeff.
We will certainly rent this house for our next trip to London, whenever that should be.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at this property in London. The hosts were friendly and generous. The unit was well stocked for us when we arrived and our hosts were there waiting for us even though we were a bit later than planned. They provided us with an orientation to the unit and to getting around in London, even loaning us some travel cards so we wouldn't need to make deposits on new cards. All in all, we had an incredible experience in London in large part due to accessibility of this unit and the generosity of our hosts. We will definitely look to book here again on future trips to London. Thanks so much for everything!!!

My husband and I have just returned from a truly fabulous 6-night stay in this wonderful flat. This was our 3rd stay here. To be honest, I wondered when I booked the flat whether or not if it would still be as nice as it was the last two times that we rented it. It was! In fact, the owners, Bev and Jeff, continue to make improvements. I noticed that they have installed plantation shutters on the French doors in the dining room. The upstairs bedroom on the street side has a new pretty picture above the bed. They mentioned that a new couch has been purchased and will arrive soon. It’s nice to know that the place is being cared for and improvements continue to be made to an already excellent place to stay.
Bev and Jeff are excellent hosts, friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable about London. If you need a safe, clean, and quiet place to stay in London, you can’t go wrong with this flat.

Our family of three twenty-something "kids" and two active, (I hate to admit) senior adults rented Jeff and Bev's home for a long weekend recently. The house and it's location met all our expectations and more. First, both Jeff and Bev were there to greet us upon arrival and took great care to show us all the "how-to's" and "what's-where's" of the house. It had everything you needed for cooking, laundry, internet, rainy days and tourist information. They even provided breakfast for the first morning as well as a selection of teas and coffee. There was a drawer full of umbrellas which were put to good use. The beds were comfortable and all linens were provided. The location is great; just a short distance to two tube stations and a bus stop. Jeff and Bev provided us with oyster cards that each had a few pounds left by previous tenants. There were also two phones for our use while there. The area was very safe for walking and a grocery just a few blocks away came in handy. There are several restaurants if you want to eat nearby. Though we didn't see Jeff and Bev after our initial meet and greet it was nice to know they were right next door in case we had any problems. They seemed like a fun couple to know! All in all, I would highly recommend this rental and if we ever get back to London I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again.

5* for this holiday home which was furnished by Bev and Jeff with much love for their guests. They thought of everything one could need to feel comfortable: from high-quality and utilitarian furniture to an extensively equipped kitchen and everything else one could ever expect from a holiday home. Where else could you find a fully stocked fridge to last you for the first few meals, shower gels and shampoos for the whole family, bath robes for everyone, adapters in every power outlet (in case you happen to forget your own), umbrellas for the whole family and two pre-paid mobile phones to contact the hosts in case of emergency? Additionally, the holiday home is situated perfectly in a quiet side street, only a 10 minute walk (or 2 bus stations) away from Vauxhall (Zone 1) – and there also is a well-stocked super market along the way! All told, you get a very good value for the price. We felt very comfortable and sincerely recommend the holiday home.

I stayed at Jeff and Bev's house with my whole family this month, including my 5 kids, ages 5 to 15, and we all loved the house. There were movies and video games for the kids, a cute little garden area to sit out and have tea, a nice kitchen and two full bathrooms that never ran out of hot water. The house is very close to the heart of London with lots of great places to see within a short bus ride or even walking distance. One day, we took our kids to the Archbishop's park about 10 minutes away and had a lovely evening. The neighborhood is great. The house is on a quiet little street with grocery and restaurants within a short walking distance. Jeff and Bev are great people who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They are true Londoners and have a great sense of humor too. This house was perfect for our stay and if we ever come back to London, we would have no hesitation about booking it again. It was a million times better than staying in a tiny hotel room and much more economical for a group as large as ours. This house is everything the owners say it is, and more.

Family of 5 (2 adults; 3 teenagers)
Overall impression - Amazing!! Comfortable flat (duplex) with all the extras, convenient location, Jeff and Bev are genuinely kind and friendly owners who help make your stay in London a wonderful experience.
Rental process - Payment and security deposit process through PayPal straight forward. Security deposit was returned within one week of departure. All questions are responded to in a timely manner. Jeff and Bev met us at the flat upon our arrival and provided detailed information on how everything worked (e.g., dishwasher, oven, stove, washer). They are London natives so they are extremely knowledgeable and offer great suggestions. It is apparent they take great pride in the city and their flat. The flat has numerous brochures and books about London. Information on local restaurants and pubs (we visited several that were very good) is in a well maintained binder.
Flat location - We used Simply Airports numerous times during our stay, including from Heathrow to the flat and were pleased with the services. The flat is in a quiet, safe neighborhood, walkable to the Southbank area and close to major public transportation stations (Vauxhall). We walked virtually to every major attraction except we took the tube to the Kensington area and Abbey Road. There is a grocery store just a few blocks away.
Flat amenities - V**O description and pictures accurately reflect the flat and furnishings and it is even so much better when you arrive!!. Absolutely everything you need and more is there! Many extras are provided for an enjoyable stay - Oyster cards to top up for traveling and cell phones to make local calls. Living area has comfortable furniture for floppy down after a long day with large screen tv, stereo, many DVDs to choose from. The bedrooms have plenty of space, nice firm mattresses and high quality bedding. Robes, slippers, heated towel racks, adapters for all the plugs - even a Christmas tree! Kitchen is well equipped for cooking and how nice that several items are provided on arrival (eggs, butter, milk, bacon). Bathrooms are modern with plenty of hot water for showers. There is a nice patio area if the weather permits.
We highly recommend this flat and meeting the very thoughtful and fun owners for a wonderful London visit.

Our family of 4- 2 adults and 2 teenage daughters stayed in Bev & Jeff's house for 1 week in December. All the reviews are accurate. A fabulous, spacious house in a handy location with everything you require. We ate breakfast & dinner at "home" everyday, which was a great money saver. The house is large enough for everyone to have space of their own. Bev & Jeff welcomed us and gave us a great rundown on where everything was and how it worked. Also lots of handy suggestions for transport. No need to take guide books-the house has these as well as plenty of maps and other info. We were provided with 2 mobile phones and oyster cards to use. Communication right from the enquiry stage until departure was fabulous. The lovely extras such as Christmas tree and welcome chocs were very appreciated. I seriously doubt you would find a better option when staying in London if you are a family. Our only regret was that we only stayed a week. Highly recommended. Thank you Bev & Jeff.

From the oyster cards to the groceries there upon arrival, we were spoiled, which is exactly what you want when you're on vacation! Their flat is fully stocked and their hospitality can't be beat.
The size of the flat is great. Our family of 5 had enough space to spread out after a long day of sightseeing. We also had friends that are temporarily living in Oxford stay for a couple of days, and this couple and their two boys all were able to sleep and relax comfortably along with us.
The flat is conveniently located, and our kids (13, 10 and 7) had no trouble walking to the tube and bus stops.
This truly is an amazing flat (it's not too good to be true, I promise!)! We loved our time in London and are ready to go back. When we do, I know where we are staying!

We have a family of 6 - 3 tall teenaged sons, and 8 year old daughter, and us (the parents). What a wonderful home to land up in after a tiring overnight flight from the US! Bev and Jeff greeted us at the door. It was like walking into a dream - lovely, comfy home, stocked fridge so we could make some egg sandwiches and get right to sight seeing, Oyster cards and telephones to use locally - easy to refill at the corner, umbrellas and ponchos as needed, and TONS of sightseeing information. We rented a car and they fixed us up with parking permits for the weekdays. This house is very centrally located, but you can get there by car without driving into one of the scary congestion fee zones. The bus is just at the corner; the Underground is not too far at all.
When we'd return from all the walking and sightseeing, all six of us could (and did) find plenty of space to flop down and relax before getting to the evening. The bathrooms are well-appointed and the water pressure is really good. The bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, and garden are as lovely as they look in the pictures. The mattresses are very very comfortable. Snuggly robes, slippers, heated towel racks - we were living like kings! With this crowd, we were even able to do some laundry before we embarked off on the rest of our 10 day European holiday.
It was wonderful to be greeted by such nice people and feel like we belonged in the home right away. They even came early early in the morning before we left to say bye bye. We really wished we could extend our stay!

What a delightful time we had staying in this flat in London. Bev, Jeff, and their delightful son could have not been more hospitable and the flat was terrific. It was a perfect place for our group of 6 adults to end our month-long stay in Europe.
We were amazed at how easy it was to get to so many areas - grocery stores, shopping restaurants, busses, newsstands, and attracrtions - from the flat. It will definitely be our stopping place if and/or when we visit London in the future.
We especially enjoyed the many hospitable touches that were provided - stocked refrigerator, snacks, fruit, maps, umbrellas (you need them in London), books, brochures, Oyster cards that can be refilled, and modern bathroom facilities, After a month of traveling Europe, we were delighted to have such incredible bathrooms and showers.
Most importantly, Bev and Jeff did everything possible to make us feel at home in the flat. They greeted us like old friends and left us with such a grand feeling about their hometown of London. Their hospitality and friendliness made our time in London a highlight of our trip and a remarkable way to end the journey with such fond memories. We would definitely recommend therm to anyone visiting London and will return in the future.

What a wonderful time we had visiting London and especially enjoying the hospitality of Bev and Jeff and their delightful son. The flat was so clean and inviting for our group of 6 adults and a perfect way for us to end our month-long journey throughout Europe. The house was so inviting with a well-stocked refrigerator and snacks, maps and brochures for all the London sights, and a great dining room table big enough for all of us to sit and plan our days' activities. The bathrooms were the nicest we had experienced throughout Europe. Bev and Jeff answered all our questions, had Oyster cards for us to use for the buses and tube, umbrellas for those soggy London days, and directions to everywhere we wanted to go. The flat was convenient to grocery stores, bus stops, train station, and dining. We would highly recommend this home to anyone visiting London and will definitely rent from Bev and Jeff again in the future.

This house is excellent and our stay was very comfortable - even for our rather large group of seven adults and two children. The landlords are very thoughtful: the house is not just a property, but a fully equipped home even with movies, books, games and toys. Beyond that, additional little but smart things are provided that make life easier and help save lots time, like a stroller or the two topped-up cell phones. The owners even organized the necessary parking permits for us, as we needed to bring a car along. Although a large Sainsbury's supermarket is within a short walking distance, the kitchen was stocked upon our arrival with necessities for the first day. The location of the house is very convenient, a bus stop is nearby, the ride to the London Eye takes under 15 minutes, and two tube stations are easily reachable by foot.
Correspondence and "administration" with the owners are efficient and uncomplicated, and the fact that they stay nearby and are there to help if necessary made us feel very well taken care of. Overall I would say, we rented a house and were given a home away from home!

We had five adults staying for a week and it was wonderful. The place is immaculate and well maintained. Jeff and Bev provided all the little supplies that are needed in the kitchen: salt and pepper, olive oil, coffee, tea, sugar and even stocked us up with eggs, milk, cereal, butter, bread, and even BACON! Who does that? Such a nice surprise. In addition, we were provided with towels, bathrobes, cell phones (already topped up) and oyster cards. And a drawer full of tour books and maps, AND a drawer full of umbrellas, which was good because it rained every day. Not all day, mind you, but every day. The house is well situated a couple of blocks from the grocery store and even less to the bus stop, where you can catch a bus that gets you to Parliament square in 15 minutes. A somewhat longer walk gets you to Vauxhall station where you can catch a train or many buses. I have some friends hoping to go to London soon and I will recommend they stay here. My only caution is that it is two story. One can sleep on the fold-out sofa and there is a bath downstairs but if one wants the beds one must be able to negotiate stairs. Everyone in my party could, but I do have some family members that can not use stairs, so that is something to keep in mind if you are travelling with a disabled person.

My mother, sister, a friend and I (so four women) stayed at Jeff and Bev's. (We never ran out of hot water!) Jeff and Bev are the best. They met us at the house, had tea and coffee on, which was great after a very long flight. They had staples there to get us by until we were able to get to the store. They explained the oyster cards, cell phones, and things we needed to know about the house. The house was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable. The garden in the backyard was a great place to have coffee in the morning. The location is excellent and close to everything. It was the perfect home to come home to after a long day of sightseeing. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Great location, great hosts and great house. Jeff and Bev were there to meet you and provide really good information about London and how to get around. They also stock the house with everything you need to get your trip off to a great start. They provide use of two cell phones and stock the fridge with enough food items to get you by, till you get to the store yourself. If you arrive by the Tube, it is a 10 min. walk to the Vauxhall Station and only a two minute walk to the bus stop, for travel around London. The bus took us almost everywhere we needed to go. I would recommend this location to everyone.

Jeff and Bev have an adorable house for your stay in London. Our kids found it cool that it is 4 Thorparch road, as we were going to visit Harry Potter and see 4 Privet drive. They even have a cupboard under the stairs. The house is up to date, and plush. The master suites are beautiful. Their touches to make you feel comfortable have so much thought put into them. There are basics waiting in the fridge, and everything little that is annoying to buy for a few days, they have. This is the nicest stocked house we have ever rented. In Paris we got one roll of toilet paper, and that was it! We had four adults and 4 kids. Two of the girls slept on the fold out couch, and it worked great. They are a nice walk to the London eye, and very close to the Vauxhall station to go anywhere you need. I highly recommend this place. It is a wonderful house to come back to after playing all day! Jeff and Bev themselves are sweet, thoughtful and entertaining. They recommended restaurants, and we went to one, and they showed up! They only recommend what they themselves like! Very awesome. Thank you Jeff and Bev. Also, we had a car, but did not use it. That is how easy the transit system is. They have phones for you to use, and Oyster cards for the transit system.

This house was all we could have hoped for and more. It was comfortable and cozy with plenty of room for two couples. The unit was well stocked with basics like sugar, milk, coffee and tea. It was very convenient to all the sights in London. The bus stop was about a block away with easy access to the user friendly tube system which can get you anywhere easily. Our hosts, Jeff and Bev went far out of their way to make us comfortable and to feel at home. They even got us to the train station when our transportation, Simply airports failed to provide adequate service. I cannot say enough about how great they helped make our stay pleasant.

This house was perfect for our visit to London. We had 7 people in our party and there was more than enough room for everybody. Located in a quiet area (which is hard to find in central London), it was well appointed, very clean, and most comfortable. The outdoor terrace was a delight - perfect for a morning coffee or afternoon drink. Jeff and Bev were most helpful prior to our arrival, answering all of our questions, and they met us at the house to show us around and give us the keys. The house was within a short walking distance of a bus stop, and many shops, pubs and restaurants. We highly recommend this house and will definitely return the next time we are in London. Our family (two adults and three kids, 11,9,6) stayed at this gorgeous property, while we visited London for several days. Jeff and Bev were exceptional, as was their rental house! They were friendly and full of information to share with us about the property, the area and the best way to get around for what we were planning on seeing. We wanted for nothing, while staying here. They provided us with cell phones to use, Oyster cards, they had adapters in the outlets, food in the fridge. The house is exactly as pictured on the w**site and very clean! Jeff and Bev do an outstanding job of making you feel welcome. They were available, if we had questions about restaurants. You will not be disappointed if you book a stay here, while in London. The location is very close to all tourist attractions. The bus stop is literally around the corner and after getting the bus you can be standing at Westminster Abbey/Big Ben/Parliament within 10mins. If you like to walk, you could walk to these areas too. It is just under a two mile walk to the London Eye. The Vauxhall tube stop is close to the house, as well, but it is actually easier/closer to take one of the buses. There is a large Sainsbury's grocery store within a short walk from the house. At the end of the day, we would take the bus out of the city, get off at the grocery store, stock up and then walk the couple of blocks back to the house. We felt safe walking around the neighborhood at night with our children, as we did have some late nights out. Overall, this is a great property, with a great location and Jeff and Bev do a fabulous job of looking after you. You are making a great choice if you choose this property. We liked staying here so much that at the end of our trip around the UK, we stayed with them a second time when we returned to London.

Tgey luve right next door and told us if we needed anything, they would be over at a moments notice. They made us feel like family & all the ammenities were like being at home! The location was perfect. A short walk to the bus stop....and the bus system was great! Their home was very clean, and they thought of everything, right down to bath robes & slippers for everyone. Upon arrival, they gave us a tour of the house and then a great orientation of all London has to offer, as well as providing us with great books and maps of what to see and do! We would highly recommend to anyone to stay at their residence. We are planning to go back to London as it is a beautiful city. We still have lots more to discover, and will stay at Jeff and Bev's home for sure! Thank you for everything! It was a perfect end to a wonderful summer vacation!!!

We rented this property for a week during July. Our party consisted of 2 families -- 4 adults and 6 children. I can verify that this house will indeed sleep 10 (putting one kid on an air mattress).
The location is wonderful for visiting tourists. The house is located just south of the river. It is walking distance to Vauxhall station, where one can take the tube all over London. The property is also located only a block or two from 2 bus lines, one going north of the river and one going south, which provide easy service to many of the tourist sites like Westminster Abby and the Houses of Parliament. Easy access to London's outstanding public transportation makes getting around quite convenient. Also, the house is located an easy walk (2 blocks) to the local super market.
The property is quite nice. The photos posted on this site are a very accurate depiction of the home. The house is very nicely decorated in a very modern style and a very nice "London" theme (see the Union Jack pillows). The house is also very well maintained. All of the appliances worked well, and the kitchen was outfitted well with all the necessities. The home comes with a TV, DVD player, and Xbox, which kept the kids entertained during downtime. There are towels for each guest, and the hosts also provided bath slippers and robes in each of the 2 adult bedrooms.
Finally, Jeff and Bev are absolutely wonderful hosts. They have thought of just about everything the visiting tourist might need – umbrellas, a drawer full of tourist guide books, maps, and 2 local cell phones with prepaid minutes so you don’t have to burn your international plan. They also keep a stack of Oyster cards from previous travelers that will save you a few pounds. Bev was even so thoughtful as to stock a few groceries for us prior to our arrival. Jeff and Bev were extremely friendly and helpful. They offered us great advice about sites to visit, the best ways to get around, and helped us plan the best way to travel to our next destination up near Birmingham. We even enjoyed a lovely evening at the Pub with our hosts and their son.
Convenient location, nice property, and wonderful hosts. We would not hesitate to rent this property again in the future.

I can't say enought great things about this house, location, price. Jeff and Bev are so extremely nice and helpful. My husband and I went to London this summer with our three kids ages 12, 7 and 5. They had everything we could possibly have wanted to make us feel right at home. There was food in the fridge, toys, washer/dryer and Oyster passes to hop right off to sight seeing. The grocery store is just a short walk as well as the tube. If you need anything, Jeff and Bev are so willing to help anyway they can. Bev even had the hot water ready for afternoon tea. They gave us valuable information about getting around London and we were able to navigate without any problems. In addition, there is a drawer full of guide books and information about London be sure to check out the Rick Steves guide book it has great maps and provided us with useful information about the local attractions.
The home is lovely and everything you could need is at your finger tips. The beds are extremely comfortable and after touring/shopping all day everyone was able to spread out and have their own space. If we get the chance to visit London again we would not hesitate on staying here again.

The apartment is in a residential area from which one arrives to Trafalgar Square with a 10 minute -or less- bus journey. The apartment is very nice, it caters to everyone's needs (they even have a drawer full of umbrellas!) and very clean. The owners are lovely people and incredibly helpful. They provide eggs, bacon, toast and nutella for breakfast and gave us two english mobile phones so that we could call each other and them for a much cheaper price than with roaming tarifs. Furthermore, when asked the best way to reach Stansted Airport at 6 in the morning they gave us the number of a cheap and reliable taxi service. There's also a small garden, which was a nice surprise. The price is most definitely right for the property.
If we ever need to stay in London (8 people fit comfortably in the small apartment), we would definitely think of returning to this property.

Our family of five stayed here for 10 nights recently. That was one of the best decisions we made. Jeff and Bev are so nice! They welcomed us on our arrival, spent time giving us an orientation and helpful hints on public transportation and sightseeing. It was easy to get to everywhere. We knew the bus, tube and train system after one day. The house is well designed so it felt very spacious. It was very clean and comfortable. We appreciate all the thoughtful things prepared for our stay: fresh flowers in the foyer, bacon, eggs, juice, milk, bread, butter already in the fridge, tea, hot chocolate, Nutella (!) , bathrobes, slippers, nice shampoo, large towels, a ton of hangers for your clothes. A computer is provided so it was easy for us to book theater tickets or a car for the airport. Electric converter available for charging all your devices, oyster cards to get you going, cell phones to stay in touch- WOW!
On our way "home" at night, we stopped at the grocery store across from the bus stop and bought food for the next 1-2 days. I loved the kitchen and the dinning room with a lovely garden. Bev provided everything you might need in a kitchen. Having the kitchen enabled us to eat well, eat fresh and healthy for a fraction of eating at restaurants. Spending less on restaurants meant more souvenirs for the kids and lots of theater tickets for all. Packing a lunch saved us a lot of time and money while we are touring and have a full schedule. Bring an insulated back pack and it's a breeze.
We made use of the great DVD selection at the house. It was great to kick back on the sofa after a long day of sightseeing and laugh to Mr. Bean or bite your nails watching "Aliens".
Staying at this house helped us enjoy our vacation to the fullest. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend it. Thank you Jeff and Bev for all the thoughtful things you provide. We hope to visit you again.

We stayed at Jeff and Bev's property in the beginning of June of 2013. Our party consisted of two teenage girls, my parents, and my husband and myself. I spent a great amount of time looking for a place that was affordable and would meet standards that we were used to in the U.S. I booked due to great reviews and photos. Photos and reviews were spot on. Oyster cards, free WiFi, and many converters for our electronics for us to use were invaluable. I shouldn't have bought umbrellas to bring to London as there were plenty in the house. Our teenage girls shared the small bedroom with bunk beds - it is a tight fit. The other two bedrooms used by the adults were very spacious. It was a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Vauxhall Tube stop (we took the Tube the whole time - everyone was very friendly in London when we asked for directions) and stopped at the grocery store - Sainsbury ever day on the way back "home." I read some articles about where the house is located and looked up real estate prices - it is definitely an up and coming area. Seems to be a lot of rehabbing of properties. We felt very safe the whole time we were in London. Make sure you see Westminster Abbey and hang out by the Thames and Hyde Park if you haven't before. We took a tour to Bath - if you go there try and make it a half day trip - it was one of our favorite places. House is very clean - there is no way anyone could complain about this property. Perfectly located and the Tube has to be the best subway system in the world.

We had planned a one week stay in London and found Jeff & Bev's house on TripAdvisor. The thing that convinced us to rent their home was all the incredible reviews about how wonderful and helpful Jeff & Bev were. Although slightly skeptical, we decided to go ahead. I'm here to tell you that it's all true! Jeff & Bev couldn't have been nicer and more helpful - the starter food they left for us, the Oyster cards, the guide books and use of a couple of cell phones for local calls were all nice touches. In addition, Bev was kind enough to spend a good 30 minutes or so giving us all kinds of helpful hints about how to get around, where to go, etc. She even came out to help us negotiate with a hired driver when we were in need.
The accommodations themselves were fantastic. Everything appeared to have been recently remodeled and finished with top-of-the-line materials and finishes. There was plenty of room for our family of five to spread out, but also allowed us to congregate when we wanted to - just perfect! If you have enough people in your group to require two or more hotel rooms, this home is a FAR superior option with having Jeff & Bev as the icing on the cake. I don't know when we'll return to London, but I can assure you that the first thing on our planning list will be to arrange our schedule so that we may once again enjoy Jeff & Bev and their home!

An absolutely fantastic place to stay in London. Jeff and Bev are wonderful, as is their house. They have thought of absolutely everything - it was great to arrive and find milk, butter, eggs, bacon and juice in the frig, and a very nice selection of supplies in the cupboards. There were also guidebooks, umbrellas, mobile phones - everything you need for a stay in London. The house is also immaculately clean and very comfortable. We were blessed with some warm weather, so we were able to sit in the back garden and enjoy the sun. The beds were very comfortable, the showers produced endless hot water and it was great to be able to chill out in a decent sized living room. It's very close to a big supermarket, and bus, tube and train connections. if you want to see how real Londoners live, you can head a few blocks away from town to Clapham High Street, where there are masses of restaurants (and Jeff and Bev will give you lots of recommendations as well). Will definitely be staying there again and recommending to friends.

The house was very clean and even had enough of hot water for 9 ladies to shower! Jeff and Bev have consired everything you might need during your stay. Everything about the house was just right: from the minute we saw pictures on this site and read reviews, we knew that this is where we want to stay in London. When we arrived and first went in, we felt at home. Bev and Jeff put a lot of work into the place. It has everything that a traveller may possibly want or need. All little details are thought about. Location of the house is simply ideal, especially for families with children. A bus stop is nearby, and the bus takes you across Thames in just few minutes. A big supermarket is a short walk away. It is very quiet and peaceful. Almost hard to believe that you are in London. And, of course, the owners are always available to answer questions or to help with anything. We really enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave! It was one of the best vacations we had. Thank you, Bev and Jeff!

For our first trip to the London area, we chose to stay with Jeff & Bev because of their great reviews... and the fact that my girls liked the "British" decorations in the pictures. The house is located a short walk from the bus stop (which is directly in front of a great grocery store, Sainsburys) so getting around town was easy. We hopped on the bus and/or tube and could be most places within a short ride. Very easy system to figure out. Street area around the house is quiet and safe.
Bev gave a very good review of the home and made us feel very welcome from the beginning. When I say the details are what make this rental different, I mean it. They provided so many extra little things that just made staying there 6 nights so much easier...shower products, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, pre-paid phones if needed, loads of maps and information books, umbrellas, etc. The usual kitchen utensils, towels, dishes, etc. were there also, but it was the well thought out extras that really impressed these Texas folk. Thanks again for making this trip such a memorable one for the five of us... that's hard to do with three teenage girls!!!

Staying here was absolutely perfect for our visit to London. The house is a short walk to the underground, so getting around the city was easy. Jeff and Bev had everything we needed in the flat before we arrived. Pre-paid cell phones, which proved to be very useful, Oyster Cards and some basic groceries were all already in the flat. The house is in perfect condition and is very welcoming. Jeff and Bev are right next door, ready to help in any way possible. They're also just very nice people. Overall we were extremely pleased with this choice during our trip to London.

We were a group of Spanish friends looking for some big and economic accommodation. We found the SouthSide house almost at once. Looking at the characteristics, the reviews and the attentive way of writing of the owners we fell almost instantly in love. Jeff and Bev were so kind to us, giving us advice on how to get to the house, moving around London. They provided us with all the facilites you could expect in a hotel, not in a house for rent: umbrellas, Oyster Cards, mobile phones so we didn't get lost, maps...!! And the house was even greater than we expected! Not only was well located, beautifully furnished, clean and extremely comfortable for the eight of us, but, thanks to our wonderful hosts, it contained some food for breakfast (eggs, bread, milk but also coffee, Cadbury, olive oil, salt, sugar...), shower facilities (gel, shampoo and a complete set of bath towels for each one, including slippers!!) and a whole set for having fun in the late evening: DVD's, Xbox, table games, books and magazines.
We couldn't believe our eyes until we saw it and it's been the best accommodation I've ever had in London (and it was my 5th time there).
Don't miss the chance to visit London because of a bad price or bad location...Southside House is just what you've been looking for!

The apartment is just like you see in the photos, no negative surprise! the house is well furnished, clean and well kept. Jeff and Bev are very friendly, hospitable and very helpful. Although the stairs the apartment is suitable for families with small children because the owners provide a hash, as well as letting us find also games that otherwise would not have been able to bring on the plane. It 'was very useful to find food staples, which has avoided the need to just get out there! A few meters from the home side 2 buses that allow you to explore the center without the stress of the metro. If one day we will return to London will surely be our point of reference!

I stayed with nine people in the house of Jeff and Bev for 11 days. We are truly satisfied with everything we had during our stay in the house. This house is fully equipped: we could have everything we needed while we were staying, including oyster cards, umbrellas, maps, wifi internet access, shampoos, soaps, towels, etc. We felt at home. Jeff and Bev were very kind. They responded to all the questions and requests we had. They were very thoughtful to take care of our stay. For example, the road to the house was closed due to the helicopter crash one day before we arrived at the house. They let us know the alternative route and transportation from the airport to the house beforehand which was very helpful for us to find the way without any trouble. And they brought food for our breakfast so that we did not worry about where we need to buy some food. We don't have any complaint about this house and landlords.
I would definitely and strongly recommend staying there.

In the house were many cards and information for tourists. The sleeping rooms had very good beds and that is important after walking whole day. We have twice cooked at home and the kitchen was very good equipped.

We stayed at the Southside House just after Christmas and cannot say enough great things about it! For London, the value can’t be beaten, and the location, while on the south side of the Thames, is actually very convenient to everything. There were 9 of us, and Jeff and Bev were very accommodating with sleeping arrangments, even bringing in extra bedding and mattresses to make sure we were all comfortable. They could not have been nicer and more attentive, and it worked so easily with having them right next door. We arrived on Dec. 26th when most of the stores were closed, and they had stocked the fridge with enough staples for afternoon tea and breakfast the next morning! It was so helpful to have Oyster cards and cell phones ready to go, but there were also maps, umbrellas, slippers, robes and toiletries for our use. We opted to get a 7 day travelcard, which I highly recommend if you have children, because you can hop on and off any bus or tube easily. The bus stop is so close to the house and gets you to Vauxhall tube and rail station quickly. From there, you can get just about anywhere, or even stay on the bus. Right near the bus station is a nice convenience store that even has fresh fruit for purchase. There are several others too, and a full grocery store only 3 blocks away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this location and stay there again on our next visit! Thank you so much, Jeff and Bev!

We had nine people in our party, so after looking at hotels, I was certain we weren't going to find anything reasonable priced. A friend suggested that we stay in a holiday rental because I never had. Upon looking at the different rentals, we found Jeff & Bev's, and I am glad we did. The house was clean and spacious enough for the nine of us. We found that taking the buses was easy and cheap. Although the house was not in the greatest of neighborhoods, the rental is close to central London, which was really convenient for us since I was in my ninth month of pregnancy. Jeff & Bev were very kind and generous. They provided us with some food, Oyster cards, cell phones, suggestions, etc. I would definitely recommend staying there.

We stayed in this home on our recent trip to London. (Christmas 2012) The house is the best equipped V**O house we have rented. In addition to a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, plenty of towels, and breakfast supplies, Jeff and Bev supplied two cell phones and 5 Oyster Cards. We had umbrellas, guide books, and parking for one car if needed.
Jeff and Bev were very helpful and available when questions arose. There is a bus stop just up from the house on Wandsworth in addition to two tube stations within a mile. (Stockwell and Vauxhall)
The house made a perfect home base for visiting London. We were a group of eight and we had plenty of room. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this property again. For our needs it was perfect.

It was our good fortunate to stay at this V**O property. Our group of seven (grandparents and daughter with family) found it roomy enough and in a nice location. Busses were within a short walk, as well as a large well-stocked grocery store. The house was very clean and everything was in great working order. Having a clothes washer/dryer furnished (with three grandsons) was a blessing.
Jeff was a delight to deal with in preparing for our trip. He responded quickly to emails with helpful information delivered with humor. Bev was a great help as we settled in upon arrival. She provided us with milk, juice and other breakfast items as well as many other items in the cupboard and a raised airbed for our youngest (9 year old) grandson in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Also provided were Oyster cards for all and two cell phones.
We highly recommend this property for families.

The house itself is great but Jeff and Bev have turned it into a primo pad by providing their guests with lots of extras - phones, laptop, Oyster cards, X-Box, maps, guide books, WiFi, food in the fridge, and fluffy bathrobes. I have booked quite a few accomodations over the past few years through V**O and this property is by far my absolute favorite. Jeff and Bev have gotten it right. From the initial email right through to when we checked out it was a wonderful experience. The pictures provided are exactly what you get. The location makes getting to the centre of London very easy as it is within a 5 minute walk to the closest bus stop or a 15 minute walk to the Victoria Line and the Northern Line tube stations. After a long day of sightseeing and/or shopping in London it was very nice to get away from the hussle and bussel of the crowds and back to the serenity of our home away from home. The accomodation itself was very clean and well maintained. As there were 5 of us we were a bit concerned that we would be tripping over each other but there is so much space that this shouldn't have been a concern at all. In addition the added convienience of having two cell phones, oyster cards and umbrellas provided for our use help make our holiday even more memorable.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Southside House to anyone who is visiting London as you won't be disappointed.

We stayed for two weeks over the Olympic Games period and would highly recommend the house as a base for exploring London. The house was very clean, extremely comfortable and modern and the outdoor courtyard a lovely place to sit when the sun came out. Bev and Jeff have gone to so much trouble to provide absolutely everything that you're likely to need during your stay- even providing extras like oyster cards and mobile phones. It was nice to arrive after a very long flight and not have to hit the shops before making a cuppa and a sandwich.
Public transport is close and it's a quick trip by bus or train to most of the major sights - a real bonus when your time is limited.
Thanks Bev and Jeff for a wonderful stay - you just give that little bit extra to make your guests feel welcome. We owe you a pint!

The neighborhood was quiet, virtually no street noise, yet only minutes to the bus stop. Markets and grocery store very close. Also very easy to get to various attractions.
I would highly recommend.

You will not find better hosts than Jeff and Bev! Each and every email was answered promptly and they were most helpful in arranging a stay for our party of 5 for a short term stay in mid-July. The house was spacious and very clean. They made sure we had all immediate necessities on hand - milk, bread, bacon and eggs. We very much appreciated their willingness to accommodate a late evening arrival (10pm). The beds were very comfortable. The rate...unbeatable! That's why we can recommend SouthSide House as London's BEST vacation rental.

Fantastic place and owners! We really felt at home with lots of extra touches (cell phones for us to use, milk in the fridge, maps, X-box, hair dryer, Oyster cards, etc.). We didn't want for anything! And the owners even showed us their favorite neighborhood bar. Great location- close to tube and bus stations. We had a wonderful stay (just wish it could have been longer)!

We arrived to a very clean house with everything provided including basic grocery items!).
Jeff & Beth had even provided 2 mobile phones for our use whilst there.
Even though we brought our own powere point adaptors most of the sockets already had universal adaptors fitted, so no need to use ours.
Location itself is close to shops, transport and services.
There is a lovely little pub only 5 minutes stroll away which was very friendly and not a bad place to eat.
I must compliment Beth & Jeff on their hospitality and view them as friends.
I'll recommend this property to any friends heading to London.
Satisfaction - very high!

We can not say enough about our stay at Southside House in London. Jeff and Bev were fabulous hosts who went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The place was very clean, newly renovated, and nicely decorated. The refrigerator and cabinet were nicely stocked with some basic essentials (like coffee, tea, milk, bread, and a few other things). We were a party of 8 and we found it very comfortable. We bought groceries at the fabulous supermarket within walking distance and had breakfast at the house. We then packed sandwiches for lunch to have as we toured London during the day. The bus and the tube are conveniently located close by. I highly recommend this place for your stay in London.

Jeff and Bev are the best. They met us at the door on arrival, helped bring our luggage into the house, and even escorted us to the nearby bus stop to ensure we were off to a smooth start. My wife is really picky about cleanliness, and the house exceeded her expectations in this area. The house is well decorated and easily accommodated our family of five. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe, and we were very pleased that it was so convenient and easy to get anywhere in London using Public Transportation. You will be happy with the house and location, however, if you are like us, you will be blown away with Jeff and Bev. They did everything possible to help us enjoy our time in London. From guiding us on the best things to do, to stocking the fridge with food, to having cell phones, computers, and even umbrellas for our entire family, they thought of everything and delivered in all ways possible. In my opinion, they make this the best deal in London. We had to leave the house early in the morning to get to the airport and guess who was there to make sure we got off OK. Jeff and Bev. We highly recommend their house for the amenities and location, but it's Jeff and Bev's attention to detail, their strong desire to make your stay the best, and their positive and enthusiastic personalities that makes a stay in their house amazing.

We stayed at this flat one year ago and liked it so much, that we came back again this summer for another stay.  The flat is close to transportation and in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood.
Although we thought the flat was perfect last summer, to our surprise, the flat was even better this year.  A bookcase has been added containing some nice DVDs and books.  In addition, there is now a drawer full of London tourist guides to help the visitor make the most of their stay.
Last year, we stayed in the front bedroom.  This year, we tried the back bedroom.  I think I liked the back bedroom a little better because it had a view of the lovely garden.
But best of all - Bev and Jeff are the perfect hosts.  They make you feel so welcome.  They are helpful and nothing is too much to ask.  They have a wealth of knowledge about London and have many recommendations as to what there is to see as well as places to go to eat.  They've thought of everything to make your stay wonderful - mobile phones, Oyster cards, bathrobes, a flat screen TV, a playstation, food in the refrigerator.
We liked this flat so much that we are already looking forward to our 3rd stay.  We highly recommend this rental.

We highly recommend this rental. The owners have created a property that feels like your home. Robes, slippers, umbrellas, cell phone, Oyster passes, food, hairdryers, maps, guidebooks etc... you name it, the owners have provided it for you. We really can't say enough about the owners who were extremely helpful - they go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay. Home is spotless and recently renovated. The listing photos accurately reflect the home. Convenient location. We used buses to access many sites including Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Parliament Buildings etc. Our party consisted of two seniors, two adults and two young adults (20+) and we all loved the home. We stopped at a local grocery store and packed our own picnic lunches every day. London has beautiful parks including St. James, Kensington and Hyde parks. We recommend this property to all our friends and look forward to returning!

The apartment - on two levels - has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with crockery, cutlery, cookware and glassware, a decent-sized lounge and every convenience that would need for a comfortable stay, from washing machine to microwave, dishwasher, and even a netbook computer and mob phones.
This is an ideal place for a family of up to four people. Two of us stayed for three weeks and we had masses of space even when we were joined by my sister-in-law for 10 days.
Jeff and Bev couldn’t do enough for us. They’re friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Booking and check-in was easy and hassle-free and my £200 security dep was refunded in record quick time. They live next door which means that they’re always close at hand if you need anything. They service the apartment and change towels and linen once a week but they’ll always make sure that this only happens at a time that’s convenient to you. Even the fluffy bathrobes are cleaned and replaced weekly
From Southside House it’s about a 10 minute walk to Vauxhall tube station on the Victoria line. From there you’re two stops away from the major hub of Victoria Station. There are buses from the main street that run to Aldwych in the heart of the West End or Waterloo station, also a major transport hub. If you’re energetic you can even walk to Vic station in about 45 mins at a brisk pace across the Vauxhall Bridge. We never used Stockwell tube station but that’s another nearby option.
There’s a Sainsbury supermarket about 5 mins walk away and I can’t tell you how convenient that is especially if you’re doing a fair amount of in-house catering and you don’t have a car to lug the groceries around. But in any event, the apartment comes with enough basic provisions such as milk, bread, cheese, butter, tea, coffee etc. to last at least a week or more. Some provisions that we were supplied with like dishwashing liquid, washing powder, coffee, tea, sugar didn’t have to be replenished in three weeks.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished with oodles of storage. The whole place is spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Southside House is in a quiet suburb, so quiet in fact that if we failed to set our alarm clock we easily slept till past 9: not a great idea when you’re in London with so much to see and do. And we never felt unsafe here either walking back at night or catching the buses home after a show at the West End.
Great place all round.

I traveled from the States with four friends for a long weekend of pubs and football (COYS!). SouthSide House was a perfect launching point for our travels in central London and to the southern coast. The Vauxhall station (Victoria line) is a short walk from the house. Other reviews have referred to this property as in the London suburbs. It's not. It's just south of the river and a short ride to central London. Jeff and Bev had the place in perfect order when we arrived. Linens are covered and in good shape. There is a stockpile of umbrellas. Two mobile phones. Oyster cards. They even provided basic groceries. I can't express how nice that was. Jeff and Bev were helpful throughout our stay. They recommended restaurants and pubs. We even shared a few pints with Jeff at his local, the Priory Arms, on our final night. Not one of us had a complaint about our stay. I highly recommend the property.

We have just started our first major family holiday and the first stop was London. We are a family of five with 9, 12, and 14 year old children.
On our arrival in London we were greeted at the door by Jeff and he showed us straight into our home for the next 7 days. Our first impression were "How good is this place" the house was just as it appears on the w**site if anything the w**site pics don't do it justice. The kitchen was well equipped along with all the things you can think of needing such as complimentary milk bread bacon and eggs just to mention a few of the many inclusions. There was plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies which is great when traveling as the last thing you want to be doing is heading off to the shop to buy household essentials.
The house was immaculately clean.
The bedrooms were very comfortable and the robes a nice unexpected addition which was great during the cold mornings, although the house was always very warm as the heating was excellent.
I told the family that the only way from here to our next place is probably down as this house was outstanding.
Jeff and Bev were very responsive replying to emails with queries regarding the accomodation as well as general London information. Bev also took the time on our last day to come and collect our hire car to help us find our way back and enable us to take the less busy way out of London?
As mentioned by other reviewers the location is great and the 87 and 77 buses are a great way to get into the city, after using both bus and tube it was agreed that if we had the choice between bus or tubes it was the bus everytime.
There is a great and not too expensive restaurant on the 87 bus route called Pico, let Bev know if you are going and she may join you.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay again if ever in London.

We travelled over from the USA and arrived with our two young children in a rather tired and jet-lagged state. However, the warm welcome and lovely house put instant smiles on our faces. Jeff and Bev were so accomodating that we were settled in immediately. They have thought of everything that we would need, from a cup of tea and other food basics to toys for the kids. The house was warm, clean and well appointed. The location was great (oyster cards and cell phones a great perk) for our time in London. We are very thankful to Jeff and Bev for taking such good care of us and would recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in London.

We enjoyed 5 days in this renovated house. The location was excellent, just a 10-15 minute bus ride from Westminster. The owners, Jeff and Bev were very helpful, providing information on buses etc even providing Oyster Cards for our use. They even gave Easter eggs to our two boys which was wonderful. The property was very clean and all towels, linen etc were of hotel quality. They even provided luxuries such as bathrobes. Having Jeff and Bev next door was great if we had needed to call upon them for any problems. I would have no hesitation recommended this property to family and friends.

I cannot say enough positive things about Jeff and Bev, and their wonderful London home. My three girlfriends and I traveled to London for a wedding/vacation and having a home base made a city vacation feel relaxing. We saved tons of money by buying groceries at the local store and cooking in the adorable kitchen breakfast and snacks throughout the day. The house felt very spacious and modern. Everything was up-to-date and clean. The house was on a side street which helped keep the noise level down and felt very safe. We utilized the bus and tube without any difficulty from the house. And finally Jeff and Bev are ideal hosts and go above and beyond to make sure you feel at home. A drawer full of umbrellas (even though we had perfect weather the whole time), oyster cards to use, pre-paid phones to use, a stocked kitchen and fridge, adapters in almost every outlet, travel guides, and Bev even drove us to meet up with our London friend the first day since we hadn't used the tube yet. Do not hesitate to book this rental! It is the best! I just hope it'll be available for my next visit to London!

My husband, son and I spent five days in this great house along with our three grandchildren aged 9, 12 and 14. The house was immaculate, superbly equipped and lived up 100% to its description. The location is ideal and the proximity of a large Sainsbury's made the evening meals a snap. Jeff and Bev welcomed us and were a mine of information. A special treat was the welcome items in the fridge - thank you Bev. The dining area was large enough for friends and other family members to visit for a man evening meal. The Wi-Fi was an added benefit and the games etc. were a hit with the children. I am sure the patio would be lovely in warmer weather! The #87 bus was a favourite and got us to so many places of interest. If the weather is good go on the London Eye (early) and then walk the South bank to the Millenium Bridge and St Pauls.

I stayed for a week with my husband, our 1,5 year old son and a friend, and we all had a lovely time.
The house is very nicely decorated, and extremely well equipped, both in terms of everything we needed to cook and otherwise make ourselves at home, and especially concerning the extra touches like Oyster cards and pay-as-you-go phones. This was my 13th visit to the UK, and I can honestly say that I've never stayed anywhere with such a fantastic attention to detail.
The location is perfect; it is away from the tourist hub, so you almost feel like a local in the "real London", but still very central. The bus stop is very close - the 77 and 87 buses covers many of the areas most visitors will be interested in - and Vauxhall tube station is less than a ten minute walk away.
And last but far from least, the owners, Bev and Jeff, are the most helpful, friendly and all over lovely people imaginable, and played a big part in making our stay memorable - thank you guys!

I stumbled across the information about SouthSide House online when looking for accommodations for a family holiday in London. The reviews were so positive that I wondered if the previous reviews were "real" and if found myself thinking, "That's a lot of money to send via PayPal. I wonder if everything is 'legit." Well, Jeff and Bev ARE real and SouthSide House exceeded all expectations. If anything, it's better than the photos on the webpage! Others have commented about how wonderful Jeff and Bev are and I heartily agree. They do everything they can to ensure a great stay at a reasonable cost. My wife and I along with our three university-aged kids spent 12 days at the house. Getting around London from the house was very convenient - many transport options are close by. Jeff and Bev have anticipated just about any need and provided many amenities that go "above and beyond" what might be reasonably expected. My only concern is that as more people stay at SouthSide, the bookings will increase to the point that you'll have to plan your holidays years in advance if you want to stay there! A big THANKS to Jeff and Bev for making our stay in London a very memorable experience. We arrived as guests and left as life-long friends!

We stayed in Southside house for 5 days in December with a group of 8. The house is big, very clean, totally renovated and very central. The street is very quiet. We were in Westminster Abbey in about 15/20 minutes by bus and the subway station takes you to every central location in less than half an hour. Buses run very frequently and you can walk to the Tube station in 10 minutes. We were very impressed by the attention to details the owners have provided: bathrobes and sleepers for everyone, travel (oyster) cards for each one of us, prepaid cell phones for our use... The house is very well maintained, the owners are super friendly, the house is very central and the rates are reasonable, what more could you ask? I strongly recommend this house to anyone staying in London.

Absolutely fabulous townhouse. New and modern finishings, comfortable bedrooms, clean bathrooms. Abundance of amenities provided, e.g. tea/coffee/conflakes/juice in the kitchen, games/videos in the living room, visitor maps/information/Oyster cards/mobile phones provided for our convenience. Southside house enabled us to have a very pleasant stay/visit in London.
Only slight thing to note, there is a medium walk (~1km) to the closest train station (Vauxhall). Can take a bus to get there, but that requires using 2 trips on the Oyster.

Realmente encantadores. Os la recomiendo a todos.

Jeff and Bev are great and accommodating. We were quite surprised with all the small touches like cell phones for local use, laptop etc. Location might not be convenient for some but getting a cab wasn't too difficult. The place was very clean and provided us with sufficient amenities. Thanks again Jeff and Bev for sharing your place. We will definitely consider your place again next time.

Our family of 8 stayed in this charming London home for five days in November. Jeff and Bev were marvelous hosts and provided everything we could have needed and more. We really appreciated all their attention to detail in furnishing the home, providing such items as laundry detergent, umbrellas, cell phones, guide books. The location was pleasant and within walking distance of Vauxhall station and bus stops. Also very convenient was the nearby grocery store. I was able to order groceries online and have them delivered to coincide with our arrival. We saved a lot of money by preparing our meals rather than eating out all the time and the kitchen was sufficiently equipped so that we could do this. This was a great property to "come home" to after a long day of sightseeing. I would recommend it to anyone.

We just finished an 8 night stay at the property for our family (there were seven of us). We have used an owner rental to rent property for family vacations in Paris, New York, Michigan and the Gulf Coast and have enjoyed all of those trips and properties. Jeff and Bev are probably the best hosts we have even encountered.
The property itself is very good for a family stay. The rooms were as advertised and well equipped. The location is in a very good location for visiting the sights of London...one block to a bus stop, with buses every 4-5 minutes to the Vauxhall Underground Station, which is only two stops away. From there, you can get to everywhere in Central London with little or no fuss. Transportation was easy. There is a functional kitchen and a table that seats 8. With a large grocery store two blocks away, we were able to eat breakfast every morning at the apartment before setting out and cooked dinner a couple of nights.
The best part of the stay were Jeff and Bev. When we arrived, they had: (1) Oyster cards for the Underground, (2) 6 umbrellas, (3) two pre-paid mobile phones, and (4) basics already in the refrigerator, including eggs, milk, butter, and bacon. During our stay, they were very accomodating. My wife came down with pneumonia and had to go to the emergency room (which was resolved quickly) --- Jeff and Bev helped immensely during that process.

Our family of 6 (adults) was warmly welcomed by Jeff & Bev. The house was just as the listing described, clean, tastefully remodeled, fully furnished with all we needed...and then some. Location was convenient to a bus stop, tube stations and large supermarket. We have used owner rentals several times & tho we have overall had good experiences in the past, Jeff & Bev are by far the most helpful and hospitable owners. Our experience was very positive and we would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again.

My family (4 of us) stayed in the duplex in the middle of October. The house is in a very good condition with clean bedrooms and small, but functional kitchen which was stocked with breakfast items when we arrived! This was a very nice touch :-) The only not ideal thing about the house itself is that the downstairs bathroom is quite small.
The location, however, makes up for the small bathroom. The duplex is about 10-15 mins walking from Vauxhall station where you can get public transport to almost anywhere in London. There's also a bus that stops a couple of blocks from the house that goes to Vauxhall. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and there's a couple of good places to eat within walking distance.
The landlords also provided us with cellphones that we could use to contact them (or each other) during our stay. They were very friendly and responsive (we had internet issues).
Last, but not least, we got our security deposit in full back almost immediately after we left, so we didn't have to worry about it as we continued our European travels.

It is a pleasure to recomment the Lambeth #360217 property to those wanting a relaxing London vacation. Along with my 2 sisters and our 86 year old parents our London adventure began. The
Lambeth property was within a bus, subway or easy taxi ride to the center of London. The house is
within 2 blocks from a major supermarket, easy to walk. The living space was relaxing & designed
in a way that all could have easy conversation in the living & dining area. The bedrooms upstairs are
comfortable with 2 queen-king beds and a room with a bunk bed set. The 2 bathrooms and kitchen were well maintained modern. The fact that Jeff & Bev, the owners, live next door was extremely helpful and comforting. While traveling my 86 yr old father had a health scare & they
were absolutely wonderful with their help and support. And their teenage son was a wonderful
help with all things electronic. The only issue might be older folks that have difficulty with stairs.
In that case the person could stay on the convertable downstairs sofa that is very soft but do-able.
I would Highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to vacation or going on business to London.

My boyfriend, friends and I just returned home from a lovely stay at Jeff and Bev's London Townhome. Upon arriving we met with Jeff and Bev who kindly showed us around the place, which was as pictured (look for the red door); a beautiful newly remodeled home just about a 15 min walk from the tube (or town for that matter). We found the house to have two lovely bathrooms, two more modern “adult” bedrooms and one more oriented for kids. The place has a lovely little garden and everything we could have asked for, including Oyster (transit) cards, mobile phones, umbrellas, maps, DVDs, etc. I enjoyed that it was close to a very large grocery store (Sainsburys), where we could stock up. I found that both Jeff and Bev were very responsive to my calls and emails and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Nice House, Great Value, Wonderful Owners! (5/5)

The house was exactly as described, and everything we could have hoped for. It was very clean and well-maintained. Everything we needed was right there, and what wasn't there was quickly provided by the owners. It's situated in a quiet residential street, but only minutes by bus or tube from all London sights and attractions. We found the bus to be more convenient than the tube because of my grandson's wheelchair, and we could take in the sights along the way (the number 88 bus will take you to Vauxhall tube station, Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, and Camden Town tube station which is a short walk from the London Zoo). This house was perfect for our London getaway!
While the house's décor, amenities, and location were great, what I liked best about it were the owners, Jeff and Bev. From the moment I first inquired about renting the house, until the time my deposit was refunded, they were very helpful and generous with their time. They were very patient with all my questions, and promptly responded to my many e-mails. They met us when we arrived, and took time to show us around the house and explain how everything worked. Bev had even stocked the fridge and cupboards with all those little things we needed (milk, juice, cereal, eggs, etc) to see us through our first couple of days. If we needed anything, all we had to do was ask. They wanted us to enjoy our visit to London, and did whatever they could to add to that enjoyment. Their customer service and attention to detail rivaled that of any 5-star hotel. Their warmth and kindness made us feel as if we were spending a few days with old friends.
We had a wonderful time in London – there’s a lot to see and do and experience. We'll recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to London. It will certainly be our first choice for a place to stay when we go back again.

My family (a group of 6) stayed at Jeff and Bev's house for 3 nights in August. They were very helpful in all aspects of our stay. The house is very close to bus stops and about 8-10 minute walk to the Vauxhall Tube station. This tube station is only a couple of stops from the center of London. It is very convenient especially if your time is limited and you want to see the main tourist attractions.
The house was as described. We were on the run for much of the time, but was nice to be able to buy a few groceries to have some breakfast before we went out each day. Also we bought bottled water to put in the fridge so we had cold water to take in our backpacks. Jeff and Bev also had a few things already there for us including some bread, eggs, cereal, orange juice etc. which was great since we arrived late in the evening. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable. Nice to have robes for all, clean towels and sheets, and a very clean house. They also supplied local phones that you could pay as you use, and helped with the Oyster Cards to travel around on the tube and buses. Was nice after a long day to grab a bus from the Tube station that dropped us off just a couple minutes walk from the house. (could have walked the short walk too, but great when you are tired!)
I would highly recommend staying at this lovely place. Would have any and all of my friends and family stay here without any hesitation. Definitely beats the high prices of the hotel rooms. We saved money staying there and had all the amenities of home. The neighborhood is not one of the top districts, however we came and went late into the night, and felt safe the whole time and enjoyed the diversity of the people in the area.
We will be back to stay here again and look forward to seeing Jeff and Bev again.
Cheers!

The first compliment I can think of is that we found everything according with the details given at the description of the place. Besides that, we received from the owners answers to our doubts and advices that were absolutely helpful, before and during our visit.
The house, not too big for our family group of 8, was ready when we arrived, quite clean and with all that we needed for being comfortable after our hard tourist journeys.
The neighborhood was not glamorous but calm, very handy and well connected with the main spots of London
On top of it, Bev and Jeff really made everything so easy and warm that we consider the place absolutely home.

Our family of eight loved this flat. Our 16 year old grandson said that he didn't think we could have rented any nicer flat from any nicer people in all of London. We thought that was a pretty good review from a 16 year old. Bev and Jeff are delightful and more than just helpful. They are concerned that their guests have a wonderful stay in London. The photos of the flat show it as it is. It is newly and lovingly decorated with a London theme. Everything was clean and comfortable. We only wished that we could have stayed longer The location is fine. At first, we used the bus to the tube. After we felt comffortable planning our transportation, we used the bus alone more. It was cheaper, and we ejoyed seeing around London on our trips. The bus didn't take much longer, and we saw so much. The area around the flat is so interesting and fun. We found the Londoners so friendly and helpful. Many folks even helped us carry our luggage up or down the tube steps when it meant going the oposite direction they were going. We also saw this helpfulness towards others when we were not carrying luggage. We would recommend this flat to everyone and want to return to it ourselves. Our children and grandchildren also want to return to it in the future. It is a wonderful home-away-from-home and a great location for seeing all of London. Go and enjoy!

My family of 4 (3 adults and one teenager) just returned from a 7 day stays in early July. We couldn't be happier with our choice. The townhouse was newly renovated to great details and fully furnished. The house is about 15 mins walking distance from the Vauxhall train station (you can also catch a bus from the train station to the flat but we are from NYC and used to walking) and about 5 mins away from the Sainsbury super market. It is located at a residential area so if you are looking for a happening place then this might not be for you. Yet you are only 3 train stations away from the center of actions so this is a perfect fit for those who want the best of both worlds. The house has 2 bathrooms so we did not have to fight to use the shower or the bathroom (a plus for my family). There are 3 bedrooms; the smallest room has a bunk bed. My nephew is 5'8" and he had no problem with the length of the bed. The beds are so comfy; we had no problem fallen asleep at all.
What made this stays special for us are the owners Bev and Jeff whom live next door. They greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the house. Bev made sure our refrigerator was stocked with the basic needs for our first few days. She even left us some pastries from a nearby pastry shop...they were awesome (highly recommended if you are staying here; don't worry there is a gym down the block if you are concerned about the extra calories). When we had some trouble with the TV, they came by the same day and it was fixed by the time we return from our trip. One evening, we were returning from the country side and realized we have nothing in the house for dinner and everything nearby will be closed by the time we get back; we called Bev and she volunteered to get us some food so we won't starve.
For those who are Harry Potter fans, this house should interest you. There is a cupboard under the staircase just like the book (we had to take a picture), and the house address is similar to where Harry lived. I will definitely recommend this flat to all my friends.

My husband and I generally rent apartments in Paris but this time we decided to rent an apartment in London. I have to say that we loved this apartment! Everything was clean, modern, and functional. The kitchen had all the items I needed to prepare breakfast daily as well as dinners. We enjoyed the private little garden in the back where you could sit in the evenings and have a glass of wine. The PAYG phones that came with the flat were very helpful so my husband and I could easily keep in touch with each other. My husband also enjoyed the big screen flat TV and the remote controlled ceiling fan in the bedroom. The flat has 3 bedrooms and could easily sleep 6 people. You could cram in more people by using the sofa beds in the living room.
The location was fantastic for using public transportation. It took 4 minutes to walk to the bus stop. From the bus stop, it was just one stop to the Tube or you could remain on the bus for about 15 minutes and get to the Waterloo train station.
The hosts, Bev and Jeff were amazing. They were so helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would recommend this flat for either a short stay or extended stay for anyone wanting to stay in central London.

My family of 6, 2 adults, 4 children, stayed in this flat in early July. The flat has everything you could need from a dishwasher, washer/dryer, coffee/tea pot, full stock of pots and pans, quaint patio, comfortable seating and tv downstairs. The decor is lively and fun. Upstairs is more subdued and relaxing and was perfect for us. With 3 bedrooms amd 2 showers, everyone had their own space. The beds were comfortable with plenty of bedding, slippers and robes. The flat was very clean.
The location was brilliant (as they say in London :). The bus station is within 2 blocks. Oyster cards are sold at the little convienent shop around the corner. The tube station is about a 10 minute walk. We had a great routine down, head out after breakfast and hop on the tube or bus. Sightsee all day and then stop at the big Sansbury grocery store that is directly on the walk home from the tube, to grab an easy dinner. This saved big on meal costs. All of the big tourist attractions were 15 to 30 minutes in travel time.
Bev and Jeff, the owners, were so very hospitable. They are nearby and made sure that we had everything we needed. We mentioned that we were unsure of the best route to get to one of our destinations and that evening a map printout came through the mail slot in the door. BTW the kids loved the mail slot and when Bev found out she but a few extra "mailings" in for them to find.
All in all, a great trip made more than comfortable because of this flat. We would definitely book again and recommend to friends and strangers.

I needed somewhere to stay at short notice, and this worked out ideal for me. It's a terraced house and newly renovated, which Bev and Jeff have decorated to a very high standard . It has everything you could possibly wish for, for self-catering, and Bev (a true Londoner!) is very friendly, chatty, and will go out of her way to make your stay as wonderful as it can be. I have a car, and it took me 15 minutes to get to Westminster Abbey, although I guess it could be longer during rush hour. There's a small back garden in which to sit to enjoy the lovely British summer (ha, ha!) Now, if you want to stay somewhere and have London's iconic sights literally within 5 minutes' walk then this might not be the place for you, as it's in a very residential area of South London. But if you're the type of person who likes to feel part of the ordinary community, and not just a tourist, then this may well appeal. I tend not to sleep very well in London hotels as it's so noisy, but here, because it's in a small residential street, I didn't notice much noise at all, even though the street itself is just off the main Wandsworth Road (I think it's called). This main road has a good bus service, and there were plenty of shops, a couple of cafes/restaurants, grocery stores etc. I remember passing a big Sainsbury's on the way towards central London. Vauxhall tube station is a walk or short bus ride away. There are 2 good sized main bedrooms and a small third bedroom with bunks which would be ideal for children. Personally, I like my space, so although I know you could have an extra 2 in the lounge on the sofabed, I'd try and keep downstairs for the living space, not sleeping space. 8 - 10 adults would find it a squeeze, but 2 - 4 adults and the rest children would work out OK, and preferable to squeezing into 1 or 2 hotel rooms. Incidentally, there is a downstairs toilet and shower which is useful if you have difficulty getting up stairs. As it looks like I'm the first to review Southside House, I've tried to be as objective as I can, and give as much information as I can. I am more than happy to recommend this place to others, and can vouch for the warmth, friendliness and helpfulness of Bev and Jeff.
