Trinity Square Flat, which has been featured in a story in the New York Times Travel Section, is located just across the street from the Tower of London and next to the beautiful and historic Trinity Square Gardens. Just a minute's walk from the Tower Hill tube stop, and 2-3 minutes from the Tower Gateway DLR and several bus stops (including the "hop on, hop off" tour bus service), you'll find this flat the ideal base from which to explore London!
Despite being so centrally located, the building and apartment is peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect location for a business trip or a vacation/holiday.

What's Nearby:

Many points of historic interest are nearby, including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the ruins of the Roman Wall that surrounded the ancient Roman city of "Londinium" 2,000 years ago, London Bridge, etc. Being located in 'The City', or financial district, that provides the home for such institutions as Lloyds of London and the Bank of England, the area is extremely well-patrolled and extremely safe, even if one wishes to walk around late at night. Due to the flat's proximity to the underground/tube station (and being within Zone One and on the Circle and District Lines of the London Underground), you can hop on and quickly be near any major attraction in central London that does not happen to be in walking distance: Buckingham Palace, Churchill's War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, Trafalgar Square, the West End Theatre District, etc.

Just across the street, in addition to the Tower of London, is All Hallows by the Tower, a nearly 1,500 year old church originally built in Saxon times that has import for American as well as British history - William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized in the church as an infant (his father, Admiral William Penn of the Royal Navy, was a parishioner), and John Quincy Adams, America's 6th President and son of John Adams, America's 2nd President, was married there in 1797, shortly after his father succeeded George Washington to the presidency. Tours of the church, which are offered free of charge, reveal among other things a 2,000 year old Roman road, part of the ancient Roman city of "Londinium", that ran underneath the present site of the church, as well as Roman, Saxon and Norman artifacts.

There are many pubs and restaurants within a one or two minute walk. Perhaps the one with the most appetizing name is "The Hung, Drawn and Quartered", just across Great Tower Street next to All Hallows (church). There is also a Wetherspoons pub, "The Liberty Bounds", on the ground floor of my building - so if you don't feel like cooking, you can take the elevator/lift downstairs and try their excellent rack of lamb! A partial list of nearby places include several other pubs, a French restaurant (Chez Gerard, also on the ground floor of my building), La Rueda - a Spanish tapas restaurant across the street, an Indian restaurant, an Asian noodle place (Wagamama), a Pizza Express restaurant, a Subway sandwich shop, and a couple of small family-owned cafes all within a lazy 2 minute walk. If you're willing to walk a bit further, you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants. See my restaurant and pub recommendations page for more detailed info.

One not to miss is Dickens Inn (from whose rafters pirates used to be hung, so legend has it) at St Katherine's Docks Marina, a 5-6 minute walk east! The marina boasts many quaint cafes, shops and restaurants of all price ranges. For Starbucks fans, one of the world's most beautiful Starbucks is located in the middle of the marina.
If you choose to walk east about 10-15 minutes, you'll find yourself in London's East End, and perhaps at Brick Lane which is famous for its excellent South Asian food! And while we're on the topic of the East End - I highly recommend the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour of the East End, held at night 3-4 times per week and starting from the Tower Hill tube station, just about a minute (if that) from the flat. (The Ripper murders all took place a fairly short distance from the flat, and you end the tour at the pub, still in existence, at which all of the murdered women spent time, and where "Jack" may have sat, searching out future victims over a pint of ale!)

Also nearby the flat (meaning a 15 minute walk or less) is St Paul's Cathedral, Shad Thames (riverwalk area immediately across Tower Bridge with more restaurants, pubs and shops of all kinds), Southwark Cathedral, the Borough Market, Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hinde (in which he circumnavigated the globe from 1577-1580), the HMS Belfast, "The Clink" (a several hundred year old prison from which, it is claimed the term "the clink", used to refer to prisons in general, was taken), the Tate Modern Museum and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is a pleasant walk across either London or Millenium Bridge near Vinopolis, a wine museum with a lovely restaurant with wine tasting. (The theatre and restaurant are ideal for a unique dinner and show experience as part of a memorable and romantic evening.)

Inside the flat:
This is a one bedroom flat and is perfect for a single or couple, but can also accommodate a small family, if necessary, for a maximum occupancy of five persons. There is a UK Double bed upstairs (similar in size to a US Queen) (see photos). Downstairs there is a very large, comfy sofa which is six foot two inches between armrests and which makes up nicely into a twin/single bed if desired to accommodate one person (there is no pullout bed in this sofa). Two more persons can be accommodated on a $400 queen size "Aero-Bed" (an expensive type of air mattress). The flat can thus fit a maximum of 5 persons, but is best for a family - not for a group of 5 adults, due to space limitations.
The flat is equipped with a microwave, oven and stove/hob, fridge and freezer, coffee maker, toaster, etc. (a full kitchen minus a dishwasher), clothing washer and dryer, plasma TV and DVD player, DVD library (40-50 movies), CD/tape player/radio, CD music library (eclectic mix from classical to country music to classic rock to Glenn Miller to opera to jazz to R&B), small book library (about 40 books), secure video entryphone, and wi-fi. The flat rental includes all linens, towels, and cutlery. The flat also has an iron and ironing board, hair dryer, and electricity voltage converters (for those visiting from the US, Canada, or other countries whose electrical voltage is 110).
Also included are free phone calls from the flat to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe, so you can call your family and friends at home, or make additional travel plans for free from the flat!

Lodging tax: Included in rental rate.
Deposits: The rental deposit is 50% of the total rental fee. If reserving the flat for one week for two persons in high season, therefore (which rate would be US$1,840), the rental deposit would be US$920. The refundable damage deposit is US$350.
Other Fees: Rental rates are as follows: US$220/night and US$1,420/week in low season, and US$280/night and US$1,840/week in high season. These are based upon occupancy by 1-2 persons. For each additional person, there will be an additional fee of US$20/night and US$120/week. There is a US$100 cleaning fee, but no additional taxes or fees.
