Description from owner

Welcome to an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, cape-cod-style lake home. This historic cottage has been lovingly restored and reinvented with the nearly lost art and trade of hand hewn and rough sawn craftsmanship. It is a masterpiece of uncommon character delightfully displaying the fruits of labor in every magical corner.

You and your family will enjoy the timelessness of unusual timbers, transformed reclaimed woods and rough lumber. Each room reveals a mix of many different species of wood from custom built hickory cabinets, original oak and pine plank floors, cherry and maple ceilings, pegged and joined with dovetailed corners as if it were done centuries ago.

Iron hooks and handles handcrafted with traditional blacksmithing techniques add charm and rich authenticity. Handcrafted doors masquerading as bookcases and shelves hide secret rooms and spaces inspiring enchanted mystery!

Soulful attention to every detail describes this sanctuary, where you and your family will revel in harmonious interaction with nature.

Enjoy your morning cuppa while taking in expansive views from the 2nd floor turret that serves as inspiration for the locals to commonly refer to this property as "The Castle House."

Unlike modern-day lake homes with set back restrictions, this cottage sits right on the waters edge with 350 feet of lake shore, over-looking beautiful Little Boy Lake, a 1400 acre lake with waterway connection to Lake Wabedo, another 1400 acre lake. Angler enthusiasts enjoy catching record-breaking Walleye, Northern, and Bass and the elusive Muskie many of which are caught right from the end of the dock.

Boat, SUP, kayak or canoe through the gorgeous cattail and lotus-lined waterway streams that lead you on an adventurous discovery of two hidden, deep-water "pools" where you can float, fish or swim under the watchful eye of the majestic Eagles commonly soaring above. These small deep-water lakes are private with no homes built along the shoreline. Most often your only company while lounging on these tranquil, silk-like waters, is the Great Blue Heron, loon families, a wide variety of waterfowl and bird species, beaver and muskrat.

“Longville MN cottage”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2016

Great house, which is well documented in photos on website. This is a beautiful location with a lovely view, about 3-1/2 hours drive from Minneapolis. The tower is indeed a great place to drink coffee or tea. Beds are very comfortable; kitchen and baths are well appointed. The owners offer use of a canoe (2-3 persons) and a Stand up Paddle Board, which we learned to do easily. Lake temperature is fine for swimming in mid-July.
