Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Lost River, West Virginia
October 16, 2013
Special weekend turned out to be a great disappointment. We left two days early at 11pm after we had enough of the mice walking up and down the stairs, a stink in the bedroom like something had died and failure to have a working DVD and TV.

We had an excellent time on our little vacation. The cabin was well kept and clean. The surrounding area was beautiful. Just what you would expect in eastern WV. It was very cozy and we didn't have to deal with many distractions at all the entire time we were there. All in all it was a very good weekend.
Quiet and relaxing

We stayed at this lovely, rustic cabin for a long weekend with our two toddlers and our dog. While the weather wasn't ideal, the cabin was warm and cozy and comfortable. The no-frills style reminded me of my grandparents' cabin, so it was almost a nostalgic experience (despite never having stayed there before). The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were comfortable, and the Lost River area is amazing for hiking and leisurely drives through the countryside. We found it really comfortable for our little merry band, but it would have been tight with six, I think. For the four (five) of us, though, it was a fabulous weekend and great little place in the mountain woods!
Great Summer Weekend

This is the second time we've stayed at this cabin and we will be back again. Thanks for always making this stay so convenient and easy to set up! If you're looking for a quick getaway from the DC area (less than 120 miles), then the Lost River Valley is a place you should consider. It is very quiet, the local shop owners are very friendly and there are many outdoor activities to enjoy.

Secluded, Private, and Quiet Cabin!
August 16, 2011
Our party (6 people) arrived on Sat. afternoon. The cabin was wonderful!!! It was equipped with everything we need including the cold beer glasses inside the fridge! The cabin and the lawn were spacious, and we did even do little camp fire at night on the lawn. The only things which need to be improved at the cabin, I would say, the bed on upstairs with scary-looking cabinets on the head part. Also, the coffee machine was broken at the kitchen. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend my co-workers and friends who are looking for a cozy and relaxing retreat.

We spent three perfectly relaxing nights at the cabin. It was fully equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. The stakeout cable for the dog was especially useful. There is plenty to do in the area - we particularly enjoyed the pool and horseback riding at Lost River State Park. I imagine it is really nice here in the fall. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet place that feels remote but is still easy to get to.

We had a great time in the cabin, it is well equipped with all of the basic necessities one would need for a weekend. While it is listed as able to sleep 6, it probably comfortably sleeps 4. Owners are friendly and helpful and I would recommend it highly to others choosing to rent it.

Cozy and Peaceful

The cabin is absolutely wonderful. The area is beautiful. We saw numerous deer and some turkeys. The cabin was very clean. Cabin is secluded so bring all your groceries as there were no local major grocery chains that we could find. We would definitely recommend this cabin for a restful getaway.

Very nice place. Spent three days/nights and enjoyed it thoroughly. I had heard that the roads back there are great for cycling - and it's true. Low traffic volume, great scenery, challenging routes. Loved the cabin as well. No internet, no cell service....the only thing better would have been no TV. (I simply left it off). I'll be back!
A real find for a 5 day retreat
August 8, 2010
I was looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat to do some writing, reading, cooking, and hiking, and all of those things blended well during my stay in this well appointed cabin. The living room is spacious and the bedrooms, bath, and kitchen were clean and tidy. It's a big place for just one person and a couple dogs and can imagine a family staying here quite comfortably for a long stay. There are so many excellent hikes to do within a 20 min drive of the cabin (Big Schloss, Tibbet Knob, etc). Coming back after a long day of hiking to shower and eat a home-cooked meal in such a cool, cute cabin--well, it was pretty dreamy. The screened back porch overlooks a lovely private yard with a stream in the back--the dogs quietly chewed their rawhides and looked for deer while I read and dozed off. Truly superlative hiking in the Dolly Sods Wilderness is about an hour and a half from the cabin, but well worth the drive, along Rt. 55 with its jaw-dropping overlooks, and I walked for a bit through the quaint town of Petersburg on the way back to the cabin. To be sure, I'll be saving up to come back to this restorative little cabin in the near future.
LOVING THE WV MOUNTAINS

OMG........this cabin was perfect! Just the right size, secluded but yet near plenty of activities. I do suggest a cutting board and a visible address. Wow, even the little Ma/Pa store across the street had no idea where it was. LOL It was very cozy, clean, hot water (Ouch), anything you may have missed packing-it was at the cabin. Keyless entry is a GREAT idea! The view of the mountains were awesome. My daughter (who runs track) is coming back with her team to stay there. In one word "PERFECTION"!
Great Getaway Cabin
July 28, 2010
This cabin is a great getaway and close to Baltimore/DC (about a 2 1/2 hour drive). We brought our two kids with us and found lots to do in the surrounding area. The Perry Zoo was an absolute hit! It is about 9 miles from the cabin and it has a huge assortment of animals including Grizzly Bears (that you can feed peanuts), Monkeys, Camels, etc. The cabin was terrific for cooking -- we grilled out one night and ate breakfast on the screened porch the next day. Good restaurants in the area too like the Lost River Grill. Booking the cabin was very easy and the accomodations were organized and clean. We'll absolutely come back. Thanks for a great stay.
Peace and quiet in WV!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at your cabin to celebrate our dog's birthday!! It was everything we were hoping for - a cozy log cabin with a real fireplace where we enjoyed crackling fires each night while playing bingo. We loved our happy hours on the back porch watching the deer and turkeys; the kids loved dipping their toes in the babbling stream, running around the big grassy yard and roasting marshmallows on the grill. The kitchen was sparkling clean - and had everything we needed to cook dinner each night. We would definitely rent this cabin again!!
I spent last weekend at this cabin.
It is very secluded but close to town
Very well set-up with all needs(except your food).
Clean and well maintained.
Lots of things to do close by or do nothing and watch the deer and wild turkeys walk by.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The owners have the system down pat and it really shows.
We had a wonderful time in your beautiful Cabin. It has a very comfortable warm feeling about it.
We chopped up some kinlin and left that by the fire place. Also left some wood for you on the front porch. Took some great wild life pictures that I will send to you next week.
I fell in love with the area, the people and the piece and quiet.
Look for the extra day payment Monday morning.
Thank you again,
We had a great time in the cabin. It felt like a home away from home. The weather was great as was the setting and the enclosed porch where even for the month of October was great to sit on. The only thing that was missing were the fish, which were not biting. Apart from that we had a wonderful time. We did lots of sightseeing and even visited the Perry Zoo down the road and enjoyed it as well. My daughter had never been to the mountains living in Belgium so she really loved it, especially the abundance of wild life. The trees had started getting their fall colors as well. Would recommend the cabin to anyone looking to stay in the mountains. We all really loved it, the dogs as well. Thanks again, Eliane
Simply Country describes it best, it was just what we needed, peace and relaxation. We were only here for 3 days and it was great having the Trout Pond Park so close to enjoy the activities it offered. The cabin was comfortable and reminded us of simpler times. It was peaceful, quiet and private. We cooked out on the grill every day and it was very convenient having a store close by for the few things we forgot. We look forward to coming back again and escaping our hectic lives for a short time. Thanks for everything, John and Sue
Our visit to the cabin was just wonderful! Beautifully decorated and very country cozy. Just what we needed. Very private and the views are magnificent. Our dog Bozo loved all the room he had to run around. Hiking at the park was a lot of fun too. We can't wait to come back again and hopefully stay longer next time!
We had a BLAST! Everyone really enjoyed the cabin. We were surprised at how big it was. The binder with all the information was really helpful especially for things to do. My children wanted us to quit our jobs and move there! My dogs really enjoyed the water and the freedom of the outdoors. I really appreciate the fact that they allow dogs in their home. It is very difficult to find a place that will offer all that that do and still allow pets. They after all, are a part of our family and it is very hard to leave them behind. I know that given the opportunity, we will come back! Thank so very much
You have a lovely cabin, and we were impressed with how tastefully it was decorated and how immaculately clean it was. The setting was beautiful, and we especially enjoyed the screened-in porch, where we ate most of our meals, or just simply relaxed with a good book--glancing up occasionally to view a graceful deer grazing in the yard. We also enjoyed the two beautiful parks (Trout Pond and Lost River). I love to cook, so I was especially pleased with the kitchen and all the conveniences that you so thoughtfully supplied--all so nice and in such good condition. I found everything I needed. Thanks again!
