“Secluded but close enough”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2017

We had a great time. We enjoyed the complimentary canoes on the peaceful water. The cabin had a very secluded feel but it was close enough to skyline drive that we could enjoy a ling hike and then relax the rest of the evening. Also there is one small hill to get to the cabin so you don't need 4 wheel drive (like some of the other cabins we have been to.

“AMAZING!!”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2015

This was our honeymoon trip and it was perfect!! The cabin is in an amazing setting and picture perfect. WOW....is the feeling you get as you drive up to the house. And a double WOW when you walk in the door of the cabin. There was nothing missing.....the owners have thought of everything needed to make our stay needless. The cabin was spotless, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed walks and the canoes (provide by the owners). It was are own private little paradise. Worth every penny!! The cabin is also very close to lots of fun attractions and great restaurants.

Owner's reply: Congratulations! Great to hear that you enjoyed A Above The River Cabin and it met your expectations and more, we strive to give you a memorable stay and look forward to your return soon! Becky, Owner

“Gorgeous”

The house is beautiful, the spa on the patio wonderful and the river fishing tremendous. My husband and I shared a 8-night stay with our 3 girls and we had a blast. I can't say enough about the experience. Thanks a bunch, Tracy and Mark

“Charming, Cozy, and Fully-Equipped for Fun”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2014

Very impressed with the location, the coziness, and the amenities this cabin had to offer, though in the winter we couldn't use half of what was available to us (outdoor fire pit, kayaks, canoe, etc). We made good use of the hot tub, went hiking on the trails, and had a fantastic time playing games in front of the fireplace. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook, grill, and bake. The cabin was well-kept and pet-friendly. There is even a full-sized washer and dryer for use. Loved the open concept of the living area, there was a tv in every room, and the beds were warm. I will return and would definitely recommend!

Owner's reply: We are so pleased that you, your family and friends had a wonderful time together at A Above The River Cabin and we will look forward to your next stay with us!

“Relaxing romantic getaway”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2012

After searching endlessly on the Internet for a modernized cabin to stay at for my wife's birthday , I found "Above the RIver Cabin" . It was wonderful ! You cannot see the cabin from the road, it sits all alone along the waters edge. Once we walked in it felt like home. A bottle of chilled champagne was waiting for us in the kitchen. The hot tub on the deck was ready to go. The cabin was so clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed a candlelight dinner, hot tub, walk to the water, relaxed around the fire pit. The next morning we didn't want to leave. We will definitely return and hopefully make this a yearly getaway.

Owner's reply: Ron - We are so pleased that you and your wife enjoyed A Above The River Cabin for her birthday! We will look forward to your return stay with us!

“A great find”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2012

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It is a bit off the beaten path but that didn't stop us from making several trips into Luray. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. House was very, very well maintained. Would recommend it for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Owner's reply: Thank you, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at A Above The River Cabin, please keep us in mind for a future stay and also don't forget about the 10% Repeat Guest Discount. “ULTIMATE RELAXING GETAWAY!”

Reviewed 18 May 2009

I have nothing but praise for this cabin. THEY THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING! The solitude was amazing, the only thing that bothered us were the birds singing so early! We had the pleasure of seeing a bear in the back yard the first morning we were having our coffee on the deck. If you stay here, you absolutely MUST use the canoe and go up river, it is so beautiful, and very easy paddling. The owners are SO FRIENDLY! We would NOT HESITATE to stay there again!! In fact we have decided that area is where we will retire.... beautiful and peaceful
