“Lovely Christmas and Engagement on the River!!!”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2016

Wow, what a wonderful time we had. We decided to break tradition and go away for Christmas....just the two of us and our furry baby Cooper. The cabin and the property are just lovely. The cabin is cozy, beautiful and comfortable. The river lot out back is large and was perfect for throwing the Frisbee with the dog and just relaxing by the river. Cooper even got in a few quick, cold swims! Christmas morning was even more magical this year....when my now fiancée proposed to me! What a perfect setting and day! We cooked a full Christmas Day dinner and I had forgotten and didn't think about a couple of spices, ingredients etc. but I was able to find exactly what I needed in the kitchen. It is so well-equipped!!! Thank you so much for this gem on the river. We are already looking at dates in the spring to come back, Mark has scouted our some fishing holes. This place will forever hold a special place in our hearts now. Happy New Year!!

“Great getaway”

Reunion of college BFFS. Centrally located for all of us from Richmond, Roanoke, Bedford, Keysville, and Delaware. CLEAN. Everything we needed to have the best weekend for a " ROAD TRIP". The weather was very chilly but the cabin was warm and cozy. After hiking several trails in the nearby Shenandoah National Park, we relaxed in the hot tub. Awesome indeed!

“Beautifully kept cabin near Luray”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2014

This is a beautiful wood floored cabin with a good size kitchen and three bedrooms. There is a nice sitting room in the front with a gas fireplace and a large, comfortable TV room at the back. The screen porch is very pleasant with acceptable privacy from the surrounding homes. The hot tub is right outside the porch and is large enough for four adults. My wife and I stayed there three nights and found it very comfortable. We only ate limited breakfasts there on two mornings (no cooking), but being able to make coffee with a provided coffeemaker and coffee was very nice. We used the front left bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. There was only one bedside table and lamp in that room, but the slightly larger back bedroom did not have any window treatments so we did not use it. The central heating worked well. The cabin was very well maintained and clean, from the bathrooms to the kitchen. We were looking for a place to relax and read as well as something not too far out in the woods so that we could get easily into town. This cabin was perfect for that. 11 miles from the center of Luray with just a couple turns to navigate on typically twisting rural roads. We were very pleased with our overall experience and highly recommend it for people who want to get away from DC for awhile.

Owner's reply: Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your time at the Mountain Whisper Cabin! The one bedroom does have wooden 1/2 blinds as a window treatment, however I have considered adding curtains as well. Glad you will recommend it to people in DC.

“A wonderful Christmas”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2012

My family enjoyed our stay for the holiday. The cabin was clean and fully stocked with kitchen utensils. We were comfortably able to make full meals everyday. The cabin is cozy the indoor gas fire place was a perfect spot for reading. We spent time outside also to use the fire pit. It snowed during our stay just be cautioned it can be difficult getting back up the un paved road to the cabin without four wheel drive. This was our first time renting for a holiday and we could not have been happier with the overall experience.

“Just Right”

We spent an enjoyable week here with our 2 daughters, son-in-law, 9 month old grandson, and a dog. It was perfect for our needs. When the baby was napping in the front half of the cabin we could talk and watch tv in the back half without disturbing him. The hot tub and screened in porch were very nice. We were close to the area attractions and Walmart. If we visit this area again we will definitely stay here.

“Great Stay”

Everything we needed and more. Great facilities and beautiful location. Only complaints were that it was a bit of a walk to get to the river and it is a bit difficult to find.

“Spacious Yet Cozy Haven!!!!”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2009

We stayed at the Mountain Whisper Cabin over Columbus Day weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time! The location is great, and the cabin is beautiful. It is a lot more spacious than we thought it was going to be, yet it still had the rustic coziness we wanted. The ammenities were great except for one of the beds in the bedroom. I will absolutely go back, and I really want to stay for longer than the 3 days we were there! I highly recommend this location.
