About the area

Our cabins is surrounded by the George Washington National Forest and a short walking distance to our private river access to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. It is unlike many cabins in our area, in that it is very private and not located in a development. Our Family canoe business, Shenandoah River Outfitters is less than five minutes from the cabin and we are approx. twenty minutes from the town of Luray. Our quaint town has many antique shops, restaurants, the Greenway Hiking/Biking trail, a movie theater, the Luray Zoo and the famous must see, Luray Caverns. We are about thirty minutes from Shenandoah National Park, also knows as Skyline Drive. If you are looking for a city with lights and traffic, you will not find it in our town. You will, however find a perfect location to Cast your cares Away!

“Quiet, beautiful cabin!”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2016

The cabin exceeded our expectations-- the pictures did not do it justice (even though the pictures are quite nice already)! Everything was so clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we could think to use for cooking a meal while on our trip. Will definitely be booking this cabin again in the near future. Thank you!

“Best Vacation”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2016

We stayed 3 nights in the Cast a Way cabin and it was absolutely perfect. Very serene, private, large lot with access to the river just a short walk down the driveway. My younger boys (11 and 14) walked down to the river each day to play and fish. We brought most of our food and grilled each night. There is a Walmart just a few miles down the road, which was convenient. At night we made smores by the campfire. We toured Luray Caverns, rented tubes just a couple of miles down the road and spent the day tubing, hiking and zipling. Three days where awesome but not enough time to do all the activities planned. A fourth day would have been perfect. Definitely on our list to do again next year.

Owner's reply: Dear Jackie! Thank you for your kind review! We are so happy you and your family enjoyed your time at the Cabin! We look forward to having you back again soon! Angela & Christian

“Best Getaway !”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2016

The cabin was everything and more! Very clean, nicely remote and close enough to Luray to get any essentials. The family's Outfitter business was close and rafting the river was a wonderful afternoon. Our time there was too short! The weather was just beautiful and am looking forward to a fall rental.

Owner's reply: Hi, Kathleen! Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at the cabin! I hope you can come back again very soon for another relaxing stay! You are welcome anytime! Angela

“Weekend Stay at the Reel-It-In Cabin”

Reviewed 9 May 2016

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the Reel-It-In cabin! We love that it was dog friendly and were able to bring our German Shepherd along. The cabin is a close walk to the river and about 25-30 minutes from Luray Caverns. It's great for a weekend getaway if you want to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet - the hot tub is a plus too! We will definitely be returning in the near future.

“Great honeymoon gateway”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2015

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very clean. Great location - very private, but at the same time close enough to different attractions. Beautiful view. We were looking for a quite, cozy place close to great hiking trails- cast away cabin has it all! Thank you very much. Kate

Owner's reply: Hi, Kate! I'm so glad that you had a wonderful honeymoon in the cabin!! Thanks for your kind review! We hope you can return soon for another relaxing stay in our cabin! And congratulations to you both on your marriage! My God bless you both! Angela

“Little piece of Heaven”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2015

We really enjoyed cabin, location, and being out in the sticks!! Lots of anticipation driving back into the area but was worth every minute and penny. The hospitality was perfect, the delivery of the gallon of milk was not necessary but so much appreciated. Nothing like a good cold glass of milk for breakfast out on the deck in the middle of no where. Thank you so much for sharing your beauty and helping us celebrate our 35th Anniversary.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind review and for the sweet postcard you sent thanking us as well! I'm so happy you had a wonderful 35th Anniversary and we hope you can make it back again soon for another quiet get-a-way! God bless you! Angela and Chrisitian

“Peaceful and Relaxing”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2015

The cabin was well kept, clean and comfortable. Loved the fire pit, extra picnic tables and the ability to cook inside when raining. Far enough away to be peaceful and relaxing, yet close enough to a lot of activities to do so no boredom. We highly recommend it.

Owner's reply: Thank you, Tania for your kind review! I'm so glad you had a nice stay and we hope you can return again soon! We are only a Cast-a-Way!

“Cabin Get A-Way”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2014

We had a wonderful vacation get a-away. It was secluded but not too far from a town, which was great when we wanted to go sight seeing or eat dinner out. The cabin was very clean, new & had lots of sunshine coming through the windows and we loved the hot tub. It is pet friendly which is the main reason we came. Our 3 little dogs enjoyed themselves so much. They were able to be unleashed and were able to roam all around the surroundings. We will be coming again! Thank You soo much.

“Cast-a-way Getaway”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2014

My boyfriend and I rented the Cast-a-way cabin this past weekend and it was a little slice of paradise. The cabin is beautiful - spacious, clean, comfortable, and the setting is gorgeous set back in the woods. The hot tub on the deck makes the place complete! It is not on the river, but it's a short walk down the driveway and across the road to get to the river access which is a great open area. If you're looking for a private little getaway this is it. Owners are very pleasant to work with as well. We are already planning a return visit!

Owner's reply: Hi, Julie! Thank you for your kind review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in the cabin! We hope you will hurry back again! Fall is another great time to visit when the leaves start to change and everything gets so colorful! Winter is also great when the leaves off of the trees, because you have a nice view of the river. We hope you are able to come again soon! Angela and Christian
