Description from owner

Everything is new furniture wise in this adorable, clean 3 Bedroom private lake front home on Kennebunk Pond in Lyman, Maine. The home has everything you need for the perfect Maine vacation and even comes with 2 kayaks and a paddle boat to enjoy the crystal clean and clear lake. The swimming is fabulous and the access into the water is very shallow and sandy with a little beach area. Home also features a new dock just waiting for you boat and the fishing is wonderful so don't forget your fishing poles! There is a firepit at the waters edge with 8 adirondack chairs and there is also 4 teak adirondack chairs on the front deck overlooking the lake along with a gas grill. You can relax inside on the leather couches and chairs and enjoy a show or game on the flat screen TV. If it gets chilly or you want some ambiance, there is even a gas fireplace. The bedrooms are on separate areas of the home so you have lots of privacy between the bedrooms. Bedroom # 1 has a Queen Bed, Bedroom #2 is next to Bedroom #1 and offers a twin bunk bed--murphy bed system. Bedroom #2 is small but good for children or people just needing a bed! Bedroom # 3 is on the other side of the home off the living room and has a Queen Bed and 2 Twin Beds. There is lots of room in the open concept living room, dining room, and living room making a great area for entertaining. You won't want to go home--we never do!!

About the area

Kennebunk Pond is a private lake that has no boat restrictions so you can bring your boats or jetskis and enjoy the lake at its best. Its not a really busy lake boat wise so if you are more of a kayaker than you won't find it unsafe to explore the lake (our prefered method!). At night there are usually a handful of pontoon boats exploring the lake at 5 miles an hour. The area is perfect for exploring all that Southern Maine has to offer. You are only 20-30minutes to all the area beaches in Biddeford, Kennebunk, and Wells and 10 minutes to tons of restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping in Biddeford. There are also smaller restaurants (Mom & Pop style) a few miles from the house so you are very close to everything you might want to do but will feel like you are in the middle of no where when at the lake which is wonderful.

“Awesome vscation”

Delightful, relaxing and fun! We were relaxed within 1 hour of arriving to this adorable and clean lake house. We were sad to go. Everything was perfect! I who is always on a diet never ate so many s'mores but the fire pit in the evening calls your name and what goes with a fire ... S'mores. The kayaks were wonderful and provided an additional relaxing spot along with fishing for bass. The loon's song at night was heavenly! The house had everything you could need for our family . We will be back next summer!!! It was just a perfect vacation!! Thank you Pam!

“Rest, Relaxation and Family Fun”

The place was clean and well equipped. We felt at home immediately and loved the yard. If you're looking for rest and relaxation mixed with outdoor activities, this is the place. Perfect for family fun. It is a quiet town nestled between Old Orchard, Sandford and Kennebuckport if you want to venture out. Pick up groceries before you reach Lyman if you want to stock up for the week as Lyman has a quaint country store with limited groceries. Perfect for running out of a staple item but not for a weeks war of groceries. All in all, we loved it.

“Perfect Lakefront Family Vacation”

Amazing spot on an absolutely beautiful lake. Crystal clear, sandy lake was great for swimming, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing. Nice fire pit and deck. It's a lake house, not the Ritz....cozy, quaint and rustic but more comfy than a lot of other rentals. 30 min drive to the beaches, and 10-20 mins to plenty of quick marts, supermarkets, ice cream, Woody's sports bar (recommended), the Milk Room mart, Laundromat next to Cornerstone Market (both recommended). Our three sons stayed in the double bed/bunk room off the den and we had the master. We did not use the very small bunk room near the master...I would not recommend more than 5 people due to the size of the 3rd bedroom. The price was on par with renting a decent cottage on Cape Cod but offers the beautiful views, secluded waterfront location, peace and tranquility that would cost a lot more many other places. We stayed a week and it felt like a month, in a good way. Friendly neighbors and the rental agency person, Pam. is super helpful and accommodating. Only 2.5 hrs from Mass South Shore. Thumbs up from the Powers/Valentine family!

“Pretty good”

The lake was superb, the water clean and not too cold. The kayaks were great. Mid- week it was quiet and lovely. The house was clean and comfortable for us three, but more than 4 would probably feel crowded. It needed some ropes or hooks outdoors to hang up wet towels. We had a wonderful week. The owner was very helpful with any problems that came up.

“Great lake house on a great lake!”

We had a wonderful vacation at this lake house! The house and property are as pictured. The house was super-clean and quite comfortable. Pam and Shane were great to rent from. They were fast in their responses, answered all our questions, and had great descriptions/instructions about the house even before we got there. The kayaks and paddle boat were a great feature and they were used all day long, all week long! The lake was crystal clear and easy to paddle around. Best thing was the water was warm and we all enjoyed hopping in the lake each day. We loved the fire pit and it was a joy to end our day with a bonfire! Everything we needed for the week was there down to the handsoap in the bathroom! All we needed to bring were sheets and towels and food/drinks. There was grocery and shopping in nearby Biddeford (about 10 minutes away). The house is about 30 minutes from Kennebunkport and 45 minutes from Portland. Great location for day trips! My only negatives would be 1)that little room that has the murphy bunk beds. Really, I think it should be for one, if any. 2) that little room had a washer and dryer at one time. It would be nice if that washer and dryer were still there instead of beds. We had 5 people and when we got home, I did 8 loads of laundry. It would have been great to leave some clothes home and wash as we needed. Still, we were very pleased with the house and with our stay. The two negatives really were not a deal breaker. Thanks, Pam and Shane, for a memorable week!

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your week and we wish we had a washer/dryer also but the home is on a shoreline septic system and it can't support a washer/dryer. Hope to see you back in future years!

“Peaceful Vacation Minutes to Shopping & Beaches!”

There is nothing better to our family than to wake up near the water's edge. This comfortable and clean cottage offers a bird's eye view of a private corner of Kennebunk Pond. We had never seen a body of water that was this crystal clear. You can see right to the bottom everywhere on this aquatic treasure just over the border from Massachusetts where we live. The owners graciously allowed us to take our two small dogs and they thoroughly enjoyed running up and down the hill chasing after a disappearing chipmunk. We enjoyed perfect weather and even used the gas wood stove in the evening and early mornings to get the fall chill out of the air. This home offers plenty of sleeping accomodations, creatively positioned with lakeside charm and decor. My husband and son went fishing every day and did catch a few large mouth and small mouth bass and were pleased with the few power boats on the water. I would call this place "on golden pond" except the water was much too clear so perhaps "crystal pond" would be better. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with a nice sandy swimming area for the kids and a beach and home thoughtfully equipped for your pleasure in a location which offers you both the lake and ocean experience than this is the place for you. The owners are lovely accomodating people who truly want to make your vacation memorable. After all, down time with our families is few and far between so consider making it a time to rejuvenate your spirits amid mother nature's finest gifts!!

Appliances were modern, the home clean. It is not new but is quaint and well supplied. The third bedroom very small not really functionable. Use of lake and boats was very nice.

We were so happy to be your first renters! Your home offered our family of 7 exactly what we were looking for during April vacation. Not only did we have great weather but the kids enjoyed the paddle boat and the adults got to enjoy the kayaks and explore the lake. My husband caught a 25 inch Large Mouth Bass which is the biggest fish he ever caught so that made his week. Everything was very clean and exactly as described and the lake was so clean. We also went down to Kennebunkport for dinner and visited the Wells and Ogunquit beaches so we had the best of both worlds with the lake in our frontyard and the beaches a nice scenic drive away. Thanks again! David Michaels & Family

We enjoyed our weekend at your home. The firepit was our favorite spot and we were always the only people on the lake which made us feel like we owned the whole place. The home had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. Definitely our favorite vacation in a long time. Very relaxing and exactly what we all needed! The Anderson Family

We loved your place! And your location! The new beds were comfortable and you thought of everything we might have needed kitchen wise so we were able to cook most meals at the lake and on the grill. There is a sunken sailboat only 8 feet out off the dock--we dove down and explored it a few times and you can see it in the light at 5-7AM when sitting in the chairs enjoying our coffee in the morning. You definitely need to mention this since it is so cool and looks to have been there for years (guessing 30 based on the look of the boat). Just a very cool vacation all the way around and exactly what we needed.

The lake was exactly as described and we enjoyed driving to a different area of Southern Maine each day to explore. We went to Kennebunkport which was under 15 miles away and enjoyed the beaches in Wells, Moody Beach, Ogunquit, and Biddeford. We did find the beach at Biddeford to be a little tricky parking wise but we parked for 2 hours and then went to the next place. We got lobsters at Shaw's Supermarket and they cook them for you for no additional charge and you can even call ahead they said and they will be ready for you if you wanted--what wonderful "Maine Service" from you and from even Shaws Supermarket! The firepit was our families highlight each night and the kids enjoyed exploring in the woods right behind the home (which we enjoyed too since it gave us the break from them we needed!!). Again, thank you--we would like to come back in the Fall for foliage season. The Parkers from Manchester, New Hampshire

Our absolute favorite vacation in a long time. Thank you! And the loons right in front of the house every night at 5PM diving down and getting fish to eat was the highlight of the week. We hurried back to the lake when we were exploring the area just to see this. There were 5 of them and they were calling to each other and it was just a beautiful sight. I will forward some pictures for you to use at the home if you would like. Thanks Again, The Smith's, Danbury, CT
