Beware Dishonest Owner

September 9, 2013

We were booked to stay in July at property and pre-paid. When the time came to use the rental, the owner said there were flooding problems from the unit above and we could not stay there. He refunded some of our money, but still owes me $398. After 6 weeks, he still has not paid the money. He is no longer returning my e-mails and the Vacation Home Rentals is not responding either.

From Condo to Fleabag Hotel

May 1, 2013

We booked this place because my family and I were meeting in NYC for a family get together and there were 7 people total. We needed a large place and the description on the website was perfect for us. The owner at first was really nice and she agreed to meet with us on the day of our arrival. Three days prior to our trip, we got an e-mail from Jen (owner) stating that she double booked the condo. It was available for the first two nights but the last two nights were already booked in advanced. We agreed for her to put us in the Manhattan Broadway Hotel because at this point, we needed a place to stay because everyone was flying in from out of town. The condo was nice but we were promised that we didn't have to wait for the hotel because we can check in early. We left the condo and went directly to the hotel and it wasn't ready yet. We were suppose to get the suite because we needed to fit 7 people in it. We walked into the lobby and was disgusted at the smell of the hotel. We left our luggage in storage and went to grab something to eat next door. We waited from 12-3 and finally the room was ready by 330. Everyone was tired and we just wanted to get to the room and unwind. When we got to the room, it was dirty and we had to ask for another roll away bed because it didn't fit everyone. The "suite" was a dorm style room with two queen beds in one room and a single twin bed in another. The bathroom smelled of mildew and the shower curtain stunk sooo bad that everyone wanted to gag. We tried contacting Jen because she promised us a refund of 20% because of the inconvenience that it caused but we all believed that she should have been courteously enough to put is up in a better hotel than the budget friendly one that she threw us in. We tried not to let the last two days ruin out trip but every time we thought about what happened, it still made everyone mad. I would not recommend booking with this person. FYI: We never got to meet with Jen in person and we're still waiting for the 20% refund. Thanks Jen for ruining our last two days in NYC.

Great Place

March 31, 2013

This Apartment was just what we needed for our 1 week NYC stay. super central location, spacious rooms, even for 7 people, but we were most stunned by the roof terrace. we will definitely come back.

mini-pre-Christmas vacation

December 20, 2012

Check-in went well. My family was running a little behind schedule but Jen was great about it. We were honestly a 5 minute walk from time square. Didn't go up to the terrace, so wouldn't be able to tell you what it is like. But the place was nicely cleaned when we got there. The only issue we had was with the stove, we couldn't turn it on, it seemed as though the gas wasn't going through, but we didn't mind because we ate out majority of the time. Overall, for the quality and location if this place, it was a very good renting price.
