Area Information
Times Square and Hell's Kitchen, where the Townhouse is situated, are vibrant and lively areas.

Located in the heart of the city, they characterize for being 15 minutes walking distance to Bryant Park, Central Park, Shopping at 5th Avenue, sightseeing at Central Station, Chrysler Building or the Empire State.

With tons of wonderful Broadway theaters and the largest possible variety of restaurants at your doorsteps, it is a vibrant area where you can feel pulsing at the rythm of this great New York city.

It is an area combination of residential and commercial, not luxurious by any means, but it is conveniently located in the heart of the city, which is great to visit the whole city easily.

Worst possible situation!! I booked this apt over a month in advance, paid the deposit and was told a day before my family's arrival that we could no longer stay in the apt. The landlord, Ana, spilled the beans that she double-booked the apartment and opted to accommodate a family that booked the apt for 10 days (versus our 3)!!! Originally she lied and said there was a "boiler" issue in the apt. I don't say that this is a scam but Ana and Sophia are very shady business people. You cannot trust that your reservation is secure so please BEWARE! I had family coming from abroad and we were left stranded in New York City!! It is totally legal for a landlord to not honor a reservation so PROTECT YOURSELF AND DON'T BOOK THIS APT. I wouldn't want what happened to me to happen to you!

Our stay was not as pleasant as others. We had only two washcloths for 6 people. When we asked the cleaning people, they did not speak English to even understand what we were asking for. There was little light as most of the light bulbs were burned out. An exterminator said that he had been scheduled to come while we were there, but we had not been informed about it. The downstairs bathroom sink was leaking and could not be used until a plumber came to fix it. The apartment was not clean...hair on the floors and in the showers. Also hair in the bed sheets. And you might as well have been sleeping on the sidewalk. The windows do not block any of the road noise so bring ear plugs and an extra pillow to put over your head because you will get very little sleep.

NO APARTMENT / NO REFUND

I sent a deposit of $570 for this apartment rental and received a confirmation from the owner. A few days before I was to arrive the owner e-mailed me that there was an emergency plumbing issue and the apartment was not going to be available. The owner also stated that I would get a refund of my deposit. That was 3/23/10 and to date I have not received a refund. I have e-mailed the owner multiple times without a response. I have lost $570. I feel robbed!

It was not clean, had no washcloths to use, no acceptable coffee pot which we were told there was, multiple lights didn't work because of lack of lightbulbs or they were burnt out, most of the furniture wobbled terribly to the point where you weren't sure if it would fall over-one chair had 3 legs! Didn't see Apt 1 but that apt may be in better condition overall-it would probably be much quieter too since it isn't street front. Location is good for sightseeing.

OWNER NEVER RETURNED SECURITY DEPOSIT

October 17, 2009

Our stay at this apartment was fine. Regrettably the owner will not return our security deposit even when the apartment was left in perfect condition. We stayed in July 2009 and have asked multiple times over the months (it's now mid-October) for the deposit to be returned and her most recent response October 4th was: "If we havent' got back to you is because we have been incredibly busy and we don't have more than 2 hands, one brain and 24 hours to do an incredible amount of work and deal with thousands of emails." This may sound like a reasonable answer, but not reasonable when you consider how many times over the last few months we've been patiently requesting the return of the deposit and it would take no more than 2 seconds to write a check and return the money that does not even belong to her. It's a shame i had to write a negative review on this property as i have better things to do - i personally believe 3 months is ample time to receive our security deposit however the owner appears to disagree.

Apartment was perfect. Very simple place but in a great area and very safe. It was perfect for my purposes and a great deal. Ana was fantastic and an excellent host! I would recommend this place to anyone.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE AT ALL!!

Our stay in this appartment was a completely mess. the ownwer never showed up, only a "friend" of her who gave us the keys and had no idea about how the house worked. We had problems with one damaged bed and bathroom and her friend didn´t respond our calls. There weren´t towels enough for all and despite she told us she was going to give us more the following day, never contact with us again. The only contact with the owner was by mail as she never gave us her number. This is the way she used to let us know at 8.30 am the day we were leaving that another family was going to show up at 9am in the appartment to leave their luggage, and finally stayed there. We had to pack everything in 30 minutes. In addition, there´re 2 bars downstairs with noisly people around that disturb 2 of the bedrooms and air conditioners working day and night which disturb the rest of the bedrooms. I would definitly not recommed this place anyone.

We spent 3 nights here and everything was perfect. Sophia was an excellent host and accomodated us as this was a last minute booking. The apartment was clean and comfortable, not luxurious but it was pretty much everything you would need. area was good - right near Times Square and the bars/restaurants of 9th Avenue. We will definitely consider staying here again the next time we come to NYC.

The plus is that the owner is very sweet and willing to work with you. On the downside, the apt is right next to a bar which is open very late. The noise from the bar will keep you awake is you are not a heavy sleeper. The bar atmosphere makes it not a great location for families with children. The apt doesn't have cable and the tv left much to be desired if you want to rest after a long day in the city. The living room in the first picture is not in the apt.
