Description of the Manhattan vacation apartment rental
My striking Brownstone is a 5 story 1895 town house in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I had the ornate facade resorted recently. It contains 8 apartments, three of which are short-term rentals. ( I occupy the parlor/garden duplex apartment ) .

The apartment itself is on the third floor rear (no elevator), some 750 square feet. The living/dining room is 22' by 20' with two windows overlooking the birch trees in the gardens below. An armoire holds a large screen TV with DirecTV satellite feed. A desk and its chair, sofa and armchair, coffee table with four children's seats, dining table and chairs for 4 or 6, and Murphy (vertical) bed are in the Living/Dining room. Off the LR is a storage area with a folding cot, dining table extension, folding crib, and highchair.
Behind folding doors is the kitchen -very well equipped with a coffee maker, Cuisinart food processor, counter toaster/oven, KitchenAid frig/freezer, 2'X2' marble counter for bread making, Micasa ceramic service and cutlery for eight, wine and tumbler glasses, table mats and napkins, Cuisinart stainless steel cooking set, most of every thing needed to cook, and a dishwasher to clean it all up.
The bedroom, with its queen-size bed, another TV in its armoire, huge closet, another telephone, and two windows, over looks the backyard. The windowed full bathroom is between the BR and LR/DR.

Area Information
The house is in a neighborhood of town houses on the side streets, large apartment buildings on the avenues, piles on Central Park West, and grand institutions like the Museum of Natural History, the New York Historical Society, and Lincoln Center close by. It lies between the huge Central Park and the narrower Manhattan-long Riverside/Hudson Park.

The area has a large number of restaurants on each block of varying ethnicities and sophistication. Zabar's famous deli and the superb Fairway market are just a few blocks away on Broadway. Central Park is one block away, offering a stroll to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and all the other institutions on Museum Mile.

The immediate area is well served by two subway lines and buses going north and/or south along every avenue, as well as the 79th Street crosstown bus line. None of the other areas of Manhattan - Times Square, the Village, or the Financial District, for example - is located far away in time or is difficult to visit .
Unlimited Metrocards are available at subway stations at any hour.

Former housing official for the City of New York, I renovated a 1895 Brownstone I bought in 1969 (where I still live) from a rooming house into an apartment building, putting on the roof the first solar hot water pre- heating system in NYC on a multiple dwelling (1977). I spent an un- Godly amount...
