Manuel Antonio is the crown jewel of Costa Rica. Reknowned for it's beautiful beaches and national park, the area is also host to a wide variety of flora, fauna and wildlife. Several species of monkeys, sloths, birds, and other unusual animals flourish in this area. Manuel Antonio is located on the Pacific coast located between Jaco and Dominical. Quepos is Manuel Antonio's closest neighbor and home to local airport, shopping, sport fishing, restaurants, and a commnuity hospital. Manuel Antonio is a great destination for those that love nature, fishing, beautiful beaches, or relaxation.
Jungle Creek offers a private shuttle service that can pick up and drop off from San Jose airport/hotel to Jungle Creek. Transportation can also be arranged from any area of Costa Rica to Jungle Creek. The price is typically $160 one way (up to 4 people).  If you have a large group the price can be more. The shuttle can be arranged for anytime; day or night.

If you choose to fly to Quepos from San Jose you can book your flight on Sansa Air or Nature Air.  The flights cost is around $75 each way. This is the quickest way to get to Manuel Antonio in only 20 minutes from San Jose. Other options include the local bus which drops off in the town of Quepos (about $10/pp) or Interbus (semi-private) which drops off at some of the bigger hotel chains (Hotel Gaia is the closest to us). These types of transportation are only available during daytime hours.

We are a family of 6 who were in El Gekko and Alma Pacifica. We were happy with our rooms and thrilled with the personal attention from Paula and Clark. They supplied us with so many tips and Paula kindly arranged many tours for us. It was also a kindly gesture to have a basket of goodies to greet us upon our arrival.

"Don't look any further"

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

This review is long overdue as we stayed the middle of July. I'll admit when I found out the place my family picked to stay in Costa Rica didn't have "a view"I wasn't very happy. I'm all about having the ocean to look at when I'm at the beach. But once I saw what jungle creek had to offer in its own way of a view, I was happy. This place is just beautiful and serene. The "views" are less than a mile away at some fantastic restaurants my favorite being El Lagarto (make sure you make plans to go here). The bus stop is also very near and very easy to use and get around. One of the best things about jungle creek is Paula and Clark, the owners. They go above and beyond to make your stay the greatest, easiest trip you've taken. We had a group of 21 and with their help had some amazing excursions with excellent tour guides. Everything they recommended was on the money so listen to their suggestions. Jungle creek was clean, spacious, well stocked kitchen, gorgeous grounds, a waterfall you can hike to, visits from monkeys, sloths, and iguanas. Our family had this entire location and I would stay again in any of the rooms and highly recommend.

"Great place to stay!"

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2014

Our stay at Jungle Creek was great! As many reviewers have mentioned, Paula and Clark really take care of you!! Paula helped get us reservations for Manuel Antonio, and she made sure we knew what days the park was open during our stay. She also made suggestions for where to shop for groceries (Dos Palmas, our apartment, had a full kitchen) and also where to go out to eat when we didn't want to cook. Jungle Creek is located away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far away (i.e. 10 minutes drive to Manuel Antonio), and the surroundings are very tropical. In fact, we were visited by a family of monkeys one day, and saw many birds. The pool area is very perfect for an afternoon swim when it's hot. The hike to the waterfall is not to be missed! We would definitely go back to Jungle Creek and bring more family along with us next time!

Stayed July 2014, traveled with family

We stayed at Jungle Creek for a good week in the winter break and it was fabulous. Jungle Creek is located in a very quiet (apart from the nighttime jungle noises :) area about 5-10 mins drive from the Manuel Antonio public beach and entrance to the National Park.
Jungle Creek is divided in about 5 units - we stayed in Mono Vista (2-bed) meaning we really did wake up looking out onto the Jungle (and the creek) every morning - we spotted groups of both small brown monkeys and white-headed capuchin monkeys right in the back garden as well as massive Morpho butterflies, geckos and even had a resident tropical frog on our balcony for a day (pictures attached were taken from our house - NOT the national park).
There is a small poor which is great for relaxing or cooling off after a day on the beach or out in the park. If you go, make sure to check out a heavenly beach (Playa Matapalo - 30 mins. drive from the house) -- a stretch of about 30kms with hardly a soul on it and definitely only locals). The manager, Jackie, was extremely helpful with directions, recommendations (she booked our dolphin sighting tour and the Manual Antonio tout - both of which were amazing) and anything you need for the house (she lives on site).
All in all a great place to stay (and I can be picky!)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a car?
A: Depends on your comfort level, but it isn't absolutely necessary. It is nice to be able to come and go as you please but we are just off the main road about a 3 minute walk. All of the tours provide transportation. At the end of Valle Pura Vida, the road to Jungle Creek, the public bus picks up and drops off. You can take the bus into Quepos or down to the beach for about 60 cents (315 colones). You can always call a taxi to pick you up and drop you off in the evening as well. Cab fare will range between $4 - $8.
Q: What is the best way to get to Jungle Creek from San Jose?
A: Jungle Creek offers a private shuttle service starting @ $ 160.00 (up to 4 people) to pick you up at the airport and drive you directly to Jungle Creek. We also have special rates for larger groups and can pick you up and drive you back to the airport at any time. It can be hectic leaving the airport in San Jose and difficult to drive in a new country especially at night. If you rent a car you can take the 2.5 hour drive down to the Pacific. You can either take a 20-minute domestic flight on Sansa Airlines or Nature Air to the Quepos airport for around $75 each way but they do charge for luggage over 30lbs each. You can also take the local bus that runs from San Jose to Quepos or Interbus (semi-private), but both these options are on specific time schedules.
Q: Do people speak English?
A: Many people are intimidated by the language barrier. A smile, hug, and hand shake will get you anything you need. Just be patient and polite. You are practicing in a great place. The locals are quick to practice Spanish with you and are easy going. You will find that most places you visit like restaurants, bars, tours, etc will have someone that speaks some English.
Q: Is the electricity different in Costa Rica? Will I need a converter?
A: No, the electricity is the same as the North America, 110 volts. You do NOT need a converter
Q: Where can we read and write reviews for Jungle Creek?
A: You can hear what past guest had to say about their experience at Jungle Creek on the Tripadvisor. If you would like to write a review about your stay at Jungle Creek use the link below- we would really appreciate it!
Q: What things are provided for us in the Villas?
A: Each villa is equipped with a fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, dishes and utensils). Each kitchen also has a toaster, microwave and a blender. Salt and Pepper, olive oil and a few spices are also provided as well as dish soap and dish towels.
A hair blower, hand and body soap will be provided, but you will need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner and remember your own beach towels. We also sell beach towels here ($10) if you do not have room to bring one. Towels are provided at Jungle Creek for use here but not the beach.
Each villa has air conditioning and ceiling fans.
Q: Is there maid service?
A: When you book for a week; maid service will be provided half way through your stay and is included in the rent. If you want additional maid service- that can be arranged for $10-$15/day depending on what you need.
