Description from owner

Private wide waterfront home. 4,200 square foot with banquet hall, seats 14. Three central air conditioners, the house is so big. Party room with unique Bar embedded with sand dollars, a real $100 bill that only kids can find, sometimes drunken adults; watch out for the 6 piranhas. Game table, big screen TV, home theatre seats.

A cannon guards the direct channel to the Atlantic. Please bring 2 pound balls and powder with you. Fed Ex will not deliver. I used the last of it on a boat that I sunk within view of the house. If a boat passes the home does not wave to my guests or is not playing Jimmy Buffet music, you have permission to fire the cannon on them. Examine the remains of the boat I sunk with use of my free kayaks. Rental boats can be delivered to my 528' of seawall.Cornhole Game(bring your own stickers,I can't pick a team. Rafts for jet ski or kayak dockage. Park 6 trucks and Trailers. Pirate parties on request. Have someone kidnapped.

Weddings or big family reunions can be housed at the homes in the neighborhood.

There is only 52 weeks a year for 52 lucky families.

Fishing from our docks is always an exciting surprise... tarpon, barracuda, nurse shark, sting rays; don't touch my pet lobsters at the seawall.

About the area

Go to Keys Fisheries for a Lobster Rueben sandwich. It's so big, buy one for 2 people. Next go to Captain Pips for a Fried Key Lime pie, buy 2 for one person or there will be a fight for the other persons pie. Close to mediocre Golf courses. Swim with the dolphins. Visit World renowned turtle hospital. Stop at "Wheels-2-go" across from McDonalds book a night time paddle tour Led lights are under the board. For the less adventurous, book a daytime mangrove kayak tour. Wheels-2-go also has bicycles to peddle on the old 7 mile bridge. It's breathtaking peddling on the bridge where the Atlantic collides with the Gulf of Mexico or the reverse depending on the tides and which side the tuna and dolphins want to be. Most people who visit want to figure out a way to live here. Wheels-2-Go is for sale; talk to Gary.

“3 families, 8 kids...very happy”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2017

# families, 8 kids ranging from 2-14yrs stayed here for a week. Absolutely could not be happier! Pool was fantastic and warm, hot tub was well maintained, and clean. Grounds were breathtakingly beautiful. Kyaks were readily available, and easy to get in the water. The house was very well layed out, with all of these people in one house no one was tripping over eachother. had lots of linnens/pillows/towels. Kitchen had everything we needed and more! Overall all 3 families were VERY VERY VERY happy with this rental property! I highly recommend it to everyone

“Great House, Great Location”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2015

Plenty of room inside the house. Great yard with plenty of space for the kids to run around. The fence around the pool kept the kids in as well as out. The house is close to entertainment as well as food and drink establishments. Brought the boat and had a blast fishing in the Keys. Highly recommend this house.

“Great stay on Coco Plum Bonefish Bay”

We just returned from Cannons Point. This is a great place to stay! There were 11 of us. The youngest just 15 months and the oldest 86! We enjoyed the deck with a lovely view and breeze. We kayaked and saw manatees! We fished! The pool is great! The house is specious and is equipped with anything and everything you could possibly need. This was a very relaxing and memorable vacation for our family! We will definitely return! Thank you so much Paradise Patty!

Owner's reply: Thanks for the heads up review. I love hearing about my guests having the time of their lives. Print out your photos in case your computer or phone gets destroyed. E me photos that I can put on my hall wall. Paradise Patty

8 of us with plenty of room for more! We had a blast, and everything was as described....only better! Patty was a great host, and was there if we needed her. No interference , just help with little details, and very much appreciated. Location was perfect.....the only neighbors we saw were the resident iguanas next door. Fishing??? We caught everything off the sea wall , and a word to the wise is to use fresh shrimp!! We're looking forward to another vacation at Canon Point, but right now we have to get another daughter married (got engaged here! Must be the water??!!??) next June. Thanks again, Patty , for a great time.

Owner's reply: It's Florida State law and county ordinance that you must have a good time! I'm so glad I didn't have to call the tourist police on you. Paradise Patty

“New Year's Vacation - 2014-15”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2015

We enjoyed a memorable stay at Cannon Point Fortress the week surrounding the New Year's Holiday of 2014/15. Our party consisted of 12 people (2 families and a set of grandparents with ages ranging from 18 to 75) and there was plenty of space for all. The house was "as advertised" on the vacation rental sites that I reviewed prior to rental. The owner, Patty Ripley, was very friendly and helpful and provided suggestions for local dining, nightlife, and daytime activities. She was on-site (in a private owner's quarters) throughout our stay due to ongoing renovations at her own home - but other than greeting us when we arrived and offering farewell when we left we never knew she was there. Cannon Point Fortress had all the necessary amenities that our group was looking for and was comfortably appointed. If you or your group are the type of people who settle for no less than stainless steel appliances, granite counter-tops, Italian marble, and high thread-count bedding - Cannon Point Fortress may not be suitable for your needs. If you wish to spend a week (or more) in a quiet, secluded setting that offers impeccable outdoor areas to enjoy and relax in, 24/7 water views from virtually all areas, kayaks, heated pool and spa, private decks for relaxing and sun, and a premium location in Marathon from which you can access and enjoy all parts of the Keys - then this is the place for you. We spent our days by the pool and in the incredibly landscaped yard, enjoyed the local wildlife (fishing, birds, Iguanas), watched boats motor and sail by, kayaked the area, enjoyed walking the neighborhood, and enjoyed an hour-long visit by a manatee on the last day of our stay. Our evenings were spent in the main dining/living area or in the man-cave watching TV and playing table games - particularly enjoyed watching our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Semifinal - OH-IO!! Like most rental homes in which we have stayed over the years, Cannon Point had its quirks - operating TV's and figuring out light switches took some time and we never did figure out how to make the patio lights by the pool/spa remain on in the evening and house was a little short on paper products, soaps, etc. (rectified by a quick trip to the store). Those quirks were heavily out-weighed by sun, ocean breezes, 80 degree days, and warm, quite nights. If we return to the Keys in the future, Cannon Point will be our first choice for a family rental!!
