“Very beautiful and private- a piece of Heaven. Will stay again!”
My family and I just stayed here a few days ago and man, what a beautiful place. There’s so much to do and see around the property. The furnished kitchen was very nice and saved us a bundle from having to go out to eat. I loved the fact that there was a washer and dryer and all the bedrooms were nice and clean. If you do decide to stay here, make sure to check out Lakenenland Sculpture Park. It is only a mile or 2 up the road and is quite the attraction (and it’s free!). My family and I can’t wait to go back.
Owner's reply: Great guests. Welcome back anytime. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Cheers~Paul & Annie
“Wonderful experience”
My family and I had a wonderful time. Everything was perfect about this place. To start off the location was just perfect. Camp Luke Charles felt so welcoming and relaxing. Everything was so clean and organized, very beautiful cottage. I highly recommend this rental property to everyone. I hope to go again. We watched the beautiful sunrise and sunset. Had a fire on the beach it was simply wonderful. Thank you Paul and family for allowing my Labor Day weekend to be that I will never forget!
Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay at Camp Luke Charles. Welcome back anytime. Thanks~Paul & Annie
“Gwinn”
Cottage was a great fit for our group. Spent most of the time outside on deck and in the water! It was great to have the use of kayaks, paddle boat, and boat!! Great to have life preservers available for our use also. So much to do in Marquette that 2 of our days were spent in town. Cottage equipped with all the essentials plus!!!! Enjoyed it immensely and would rent again without a hesitation!! Thanks again!!
“A cozy at home feeling”
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at your wonderful place that is very clean and updated. We watched the beavers working tirelessly in the river behind the house plus all types of other wildlife Paul and Annie made our stay worry free and pleasant.
Owner's reply: Wonderful folks. Welcome back anytime, thanks~Paul & Annie
“Wondrously Private Lake Superior Retreat”
There are not enough adjectives to describe what a wonderful place "Camp Luck Charles" is. Our family of six, greatly enjoyed the spacious accommodations and the private layout of the home. It is decorated in a manner that invites intense games of eye-spy and owl counting. There is a dock for fishing, along with plenty of space for hiking and adventure on the endless shore of Lake Superior. Close to Marquette and to Northern Michigan University which made it a plus for our new and returning students. Can not say enough good things about the owners Paul and Anne Bishop, who went the extra mile to be sure we were all set in the use of their home. You will not regret for a moment the rental of this cottage A+A+
Owner's reply: That's awesome, Thanks. Really happy you all loved it, welcome back anytime. ~Paul & Annie Bishop
“Girls kayaking week”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camp Luke Charles! Owners Paul and Annie are two of the most 'real' people you will ever meet! Such a story behind the residence, the name, the treehouse... Oh my gosh the place had our hearts from the start! The house can accommodate a large group of people and still allow privacy. To top it off the beach access directly across the road allowed us three nights of Perseid meteor viewing! Amazing week.
“Great location near a long stretch of beach”
We loved the location of Camp Luke Charles. It's between Marquette and Munising. There's a long driveway from the black-top 2-lane highway, so it's pretty quiet. And, it a quick walk (less than 5 minutes) back down that driveway, across the road and you're on the beach (and there were rarely more than 10 people anywhere near us.) Beautiful sunsets there. Great for beach campfires. About 20-30 minutes from various places to hike near Pictured Rocks. The place itself takes a little getting used to -- a bit like being in an I-Spy book with all the knick knacks and personal effects. But, it's well-equipped, spacious and clean.
“The Perfect Place!!”
Camp Luke Charles was very cozy and in the perfect location. Lots of character with plenty of places to sleep. Appliances were updated and worked well. No problems with hot water or showers. Having Lake Superior across the road was phenomenal! Beach fires while listening to the waves roll in - soul cleansing! I would definitely book again! Great people!
Owner's reply: Good to hear you guys really enjoyed Camp Luke Charles and the surroundings. Thanks for the great review! ~Paul & Annie
“Great cabin!”
Lovely setting and fun cabin. It was clean, great beds and full kitchen. Loved it! The owners were very nice as well. Highly recommend!
Owner's reply: Thank-you for the kind review. Welcome back anytime. ~Paul & Annie Bishop

Owner Supplied Testimonials
We had a wonderful time. Your cabin is amazing and the lake was so much fun. I hope to return someday and do it all over again.
We had a wonderful stay at your cabin. Our three boys loved the lake; especially the floaties! I enjoyed coffee on the swing looking over the river every morning. We hiked, fished, canoed, swam, and had many smores on the campfire. It was a peaceful stay and gave Ted and I a chance to show the kids NMU where we graduated. The kids want to move here! God Bless.
This is a place where one doesn't think about:
What time it is.
What day of the month it is.
What's going on elsewhere in the world.
Time is a walk on the beach.
Stories around the fire.
Picking wild blueberries.
Long walks in the woods.
Kayaking Sand River
Knitting
Watching birds and other little critters
Watching Autumn creep up red on leaves
The day of the month is the sun coming up and going down
it is mass on Sunday
and maybe some time at a festival.
What's going on in the world are matters of the heart and soul-its the pounding surf of Lake Superior, washing grief from the heart.. if only for a moment...
it's live music at the Seafood festival, and watching my sister dance- and seeing joy and light on her face...if only for a moment...and knowing that just for a second, grief, like shards of glass, were under her feet- and she danced, no matter the pain on her bare feet. Cate
I've had a wonderful stay here. The cottage provided a peaceful place in a beautiful setting for one to get away from work. While I've been here, the trees began to turn to their beautiful fall colors and the lake has ranged from grey and stormy to blue and calm. Perfect!
