About Brewster

Brewster, Massachusetts on Cape Cod was once home to wealthy sea captains and is now an ideal vacation spot for those who enjoy the ocean and a simpler lifestyle. With quaint salt-box homes and cottages, there are a number of options to choose from when searching through Brewster vacation rentals.

Things to Do

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is located in Brewster. There you'll find stunning views and delightful walking trails. There's a boardwalk through the salt marshes and excellent bird watching. Visitors to the Cape also enjoy Nickerson State Park's 1,900 acres of piney woods, a departure from the Cape's usual sand dunes and salt marshes. The Stony Brook Grist Mill and Museum offers a look back at how mills used water power to grind corn into meal. Don't miss the herring run across the street.  The herring will "run" the fish locks made from stones in the stream when the air temps are above 50 degrees. It's a spectacle humans and sea gulls enjoy, but for different reasons.

Families spending time in nearby Brewster vacation rentals will be happy to know that there are several beautiful beaches in the area. Crosby Landing Beach is a great beach for kids because of its low waves and ample flats. During low tide, large sandbars form and are the perfect hangout spot on a hot summer day. Paine’s Creek is another wonderful, family-friendly beach, featuring tidal pools, an abundance of horseshoe crabs, and gentle surf.

The Cape offers a leisurely lifestyle where most people staying at a Brewster vacation rental enjoy walking and bike riding along the Cape Cod Rail Trail. However, if you'd like to explore the villages in this area, having a car is handy but not necessary. You can take a shuttle from Boston's Logan Airport or take the Cape Flyer (train) from a number of suburbs with service during the summer on Friday-Sunday. The Flyer offers free WiFi and pets are welcome. The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority also provides limited year-round Cape bus and Trolley service.

Brewster experiences all four seasons. Winter temps average in the 30s, while late spring brings a pleasant average in the 60s. Summer daytime temps are in the 70s but the water is chilly. Fall offers crisp, light-jacket weather in the 50s.
