Description of the Massanutten vacation home rental
The Overlook at Massanutten is just around the corner from the Massanutten Ski Lodge, and one of the few homes within walking distance to the slopes. Walking or driving, you can be on the slopes in no time. As one of the closest homes to the ski slopes, you can return for hot chocolate and place your skis and boots in the screened porch. It is perfect for a family winter ski trip or to enjoy the Four Seasons Resort and Shenandoah Valley area any time of year.

Step onto one of the two balconies to overlook the Massanutten Valley through the trees that separate the house from the ski slopes.

The Overlook is a spacious 5 bedroom home with open vaulted ceilings. Upstairs is a full kitchen, fireplace, screened porch, great room with family and dining area with seating for 10, master bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom, and utility room. Additional sleeping arrangements upstairs include a queen-sized sofa couch and a full-sized roll-away bed. All beds are new, pillowtop mattresses with your comfort and a restful nights sleep in mind.

A balcony walkway with a comfortable seating area is set off the family room for an additional area to relax and enjoy the outdoor surroundings. That walkway leads around the house through the screened porch onto a rear balcony, where a barbeque grill awaits evening cookouts. The family and dining rooms boast a vaulted ceiling and numerous large windows provide light and views. Two sliding doors lead outside to the balcony for more beautiful views.

Downstairs are a full bathroom and four bedrooms with: (1) a queen bed; (2) twin bed and a queen sleeper sofa; (3) twin bed; and (4) a queen bed. The fourth bedroom, which has a private door, can double as a downstairs family room with games and television. The washer and dryer are also located downstairs. The walkout basement leads to the second balcony, providing a great area overlook.

The Overlook is centrally located to numerous year-round amenities, including the outdoor pool (requires guest pass purchased with a homeowner), miniature golf course, ski lift chairride, go-cart racetrack, Mountain Greens championship golf course, and Fareways Restaurant and Lounge. Other amenities, including the new Waterpark and horseback riding at Woodstone Meadows and much more, are also available at the Massanutten Resort.

wasn't up to my standards, the rooms in the basement had a bad oder, the dining room table was old with alot of stains on it, the gas grill didn't have any gas and we had to drive out of the resort to pick up gas, couldn't find the WIFI code on the book in the house, the beds in the basement were very uncomfortable so we had to sleep on the couch instead. over all it wasn't awful but the odor in the rooms downstairs was the biggest issue for us. we booked on Thursday for Friday so time wasn't on our side and we had to get whatever was available. we've used massanuttenvacation rentals before and will use them again since we've always had a good experiance with them untill now. I will not stay at this house again as it needs some major upgrades to their beds.

Great Location

February 24, 2014

We had a wonderful time at Massanutten! This home filled our needs, but does need some TLC. We have stayed here before, and it is now showing some wear. The kitchen plugs while cooking with griddles, kept tripping the breaker. For the money, this was the best deal! It is located very near the slopes and tubing park. We did have a Wonderful time!!

A home away from home.

The exterior pictures do not do this home much justice. It is simply georgeous and it was too much house for us. We take a family trip together every year and vowed not to repeat any sites. My family seems perfectly willing to break that vow. LOL. My only very small complaint is the fact that the manual can opener does not work. This put a little damper on our menu plans. We'll bring our own the next time!

Owner's reply:

We are glad that you appreciate all that this home has to offer and look forward to hosting you again.

I don't agree with the review left by Mrs. Hutchinson. This house is in very good condition. My family thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Needs updating and repair

April 15, 2013

The house is in a fantastic location on a nice, quiet street. Its really big and spacious. However, some updates/general maintenance is needed. Railing going downstairs is loose; furniture is warn, screen porch needs repair, ... squirrels kept getting in to the garbage. The kitchen and bathrooms are pretty small. Really liked the big dining table and the beds were comfortable. It wasn't bad.... and I think it gets a lot of wear and tear during the ski season. We liked the house and enjoyed our time there.

horrible place, rude owner and horrible service

February 1, 2013

This place is definitely not what it claims to be. The owner is very rude and would not hesitate to call you a flat out liar if you tell him anything that is wrong at the property. The guy who services the place has no interest in providing any service whatsoever. They may look like a good price, but the condition of the house is awful. Half the stuff doesn't work. There are much better and affordable options in the area. I regret renting this place

great find

February 16, 2011

This was the easiest property I've ever rented. This home is very private tucked at the end of a street. Rooms are very private, and home is way bigger than it seems. Fully equipped kitchen all the way down to the tin foil and cleaning supplies. Owner is very kind and easy to work with. Security deposit was refunded under 24 hours. We had a wonderful trip, and made memories to last. Don't over look this home, It's a great find! Thanks you to the Rogers family for sharing your home!

Our stay at the Overlook

January 19, 2008

We rented this house in 11/07 and had a really nice time. First time to the Massanutten area and we happened to pick the perfect home/location. This house is up the mountain, approximately 1/2 mile from the ski lodge and country store. There is a large indoor water park down the mountain which is great for the all day adventure! The Overlook is nicely decorated inside and very roomy. Owner was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with! We will definitely be returning to the Overlook!

Family Christmas Gathering

December 30, 2007

This was a wonderful place for our extended family. It sleeps 14 but keep in mind that includes two queen size sleepers. Kitchen needs a toaster that works. Great gathering space in living/dining area. We all enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
