Description of the Mauna Lani vacation townhouse rental
Welcome to Hale Laule'a at Kulalani (Kulalani 2006)
(our house of peace and happiness in the heavenly meadow)

***It's all about Style

With 1331 sq. ft of thoughtfully designed interior space, our poolside, 2-storey, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Hawaiian plantation style villa is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

***It all about Quality and Service

We care and it shows. From the designer colours to the well-stocked kitchen, Hawaiian bath products and 100% Kona Coffee, we strive to provide the best possible experience for our guests.

***It's all about Sun

Kulalani is located at Mauna Lani, a sun-drenched Kohala Coast resort community north of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. We love Kulalani ... and we know you will too!

Greet the day with freshly brewed 100% Kona coffee, and watch the sunrise over the 14,000-ft. Mauna Kea from the main floor lanai and upstairs lanais.

Relax on the living room's Tahitian style sectional and download a new novel with our free WiFi. Catch the big game or enjoy a Netflix movie on the 40' Smart, flat screen HDTV. Or, just melt away while listening to one of many Hawaiian music CDs.

The wrap-around main floor lanai is complete with a Viking propane gas BBQ, wet bar, granite countertop, elegant resin wicker dining and conversation furniture, and area rugs for your comfort.

The Viking BBQ with quality tools is easy to use. Imagine firing up a Hawaiian BBQ for 'al fresco' dining or relaxing on the love seat, reading a book and sipping a Mai Tai while taking in breathtaking views of the mountains, gardens and beautiful pools!

The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen has everything you need - and a few things you didn't even think you needed - to make preparing meals a breeze. The kitchen is accented with sleek granite countertops, and features top of the line GE Profile appliances. You will be amazed at how well-stocked and well-maintained the kitchen is, with an assortment of gadgets and small appliances. The gathering height table and dining room chairs sit on a beautiful, Hawaiian inspired floral wool area rug, which sets the tropical mood. Place mats, chargers and napkins complete the glass-covered table, while seating four guests comfortably and in style.

We provide specialty glassware, serving dishes and utensils for everything from a pizza party to Thanksgiving dinner. Prefer to dine al fresco? The glass dining table on our wrap-around, main floor lanai can seat four. If you prefer to snack by the pool or join the owners for one of their potluck dinners at the pavilion, there are plenty of outdoor dishes, glassware, cutlery and serving dishes for safe, poolside gatherings.

The roomy upstairs master bedroom features a Cal king 4 poster bed with rich bedding, and a tropical-inspired ceiling fan to push through the cool trade winds breeze. Doze off while watching the 26' LCD flat screen HDTV w/DVD player, or listening to the gentle sounds of Hawaiian music. Privacy blinds, luxury linens and a new, ultra-comfortable, hypo-allergenic bed means sweet dreams await.

Step out on to the private lanai and watch the sunrise while sipping your first cup of 100% Kona coffee. Relax on the comfortable chairs with ottomans, watch the sun rise over towering Mauna Kea or take in the amazing views of the Kohala mountains and coastline.

The spa-like master bathroom features tile floors, oversized closet with hangers, a spacious, glass-enclosed shower, private water closet and a large, double vanity with granite countertops. A full-size jetted tub is ideal for soaking after a day of sightseeing, golfing, swimming or just relaxing on the beach.

The main floor bedroom, decorated in a tropical coconut palm motif, features a new, organic hypo-allergenic queen bed, ceiling fan and a 26' LCD flat screen HDTV w/DVD player.

The adjacent main floor bathroom has tile floors, a single vanity with granite countertop, and a tub with shower and sliding glass doors.

The two bedrooms are located on separate floors and offer the ultimate in privacy. Both bedrooms feature WiFi, alarm clocks, ironing boards and irons. Both bathrooms are stocked with premium Hawaiian bath products, 100% white cotton towels, hair dryers, magnifying mirrors and spa-like extras.

Drift the day away on a pool float in the large, lagoon-style pool or get that workout in with a swim in the lap pool. Laze around on one of the lounge chairs by the quiet lap pool, while reading one of your favourite authors or listening to tunes on your iPod. Play a round of golf on one of the two championship courses at the resort. Cap off the day watching the sunset, poolside or soaking away in one of the hot tubs with the push of a button. When you're ready to come in, dry off with one of our big, fluffy beach towels.

There's just something special about Kulalani at Mauna Lani. The setting is peaceful and tranquil. At night, the dark night skies make for fabulous star gazing.

With the Mauna Lani Shops nearby, there's easy access to shopping, dining and entertainment.

Mauna Lani is known today for its commitment to Hawaiian culture, historic preservation and environmental conservation. The resort offers miles of hiking trails through ancient Hawaiian fishponds and Honu (sea turtle) nurseries.

Golfers will be impressed by the picturesque Francis H. I'i Brown North and South courses. Kulalani is surrounded by the championship Francis H. I'i Brown North Golf Course. Ideal for golf enthusiasts of all levels, the two courses have received Golf Magazine's Gold Medal award every year since 1988. The North course was home to the Senior Skins Golf Game for 11 years. All guests at Mauna Lani are eligible for discounts on green fees, advance booking privileges and preferential tee times.
Five other golf courses are located within a 10-mile radius of our villa.

Each month the Mauna Lani Resort hosts a "talk story" at the Eva Parker Woods cottage. We recommend you attend this fun, free event if it falls during your visit.

Every July 4th is "Turtle Independence Day." On this day, the the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel holds a festival to release Honu (sea turtles) the hotel have raised into their natural habitat.

During the Christmas holidays, the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel kicks off its annual competition of The Charity Trees at Mauna Lani. The lobby is filled with Christmas trees, all of which are decorated by local non-profit organizations to raise community awareness.

Hawaii's beaches come in all different colours: white, black, green, salt and pepper. You will enjoy access to the members-only Mauna Lani Private Beach Club, which boasts one of the best white sand beaches, snorkelling sites and local cuisine on the island. Owner Supplied Testimonials

Left on 03/23/2013 for a stay in March 2013
No need to search any further. Richard and Nina provided us a relaxing and 5 star retreat villa with all the amenities you could ask for. The house, onsite pools and fitness center were outstanding, but the highlight was spending time at the private and secure beach club. The club's lifeguarded beach/ocean-front was like swimming in a real-life aquarium. No need to spend additional resources on a chartered snorkeling/scuba diving excursion. This being our 4th visit to the Big Island, the location was just right for travels in any direction to the attractions...just book your trip with Kulalani 2006.

?Beautiful condominium with everything you need.?

Left on 07/22/2013 for a stay in July 2013
We loved this vacation home. The owners have provided everything you could possibly need. The house had lots of spices and other cooking needs and we were gifted with a starter coffee pack and a nice bottle of wine. It was a great base for touring the Big Island with many lovely beaches nearby. After staying in beautiful resorts on Oahu and Maui, it was nice to have all the conveniences of home. The grocery store is right down the road and we took advantage of the very nice grill. Comfortable beds and bedding, lots of beach accessories (masks, fins, chairs, etc.) This is a peaceful, quiet development and most days we had both pools(steps from the condo) to ourselves. We hope to return someday!

?A jewel in paradise!?

Left on 01/12/2014 for a stay in January 2014
From the initial contact to our departure email, Nina and Richard were gracious and helpful. We have been renting condos in the Big island for years and this was the first time we rented direct from the owners. With Nina and Richard (versus a management co) we felt more informed, prepared and relaxed going into the trip. They checked in with us several times before and during the stay to make sure we had everything we needed. This never happened with the rental companies who usually just takes our money and gives us the lockbox code.
When we got to the condo we found a sweet welcome gift of local cookies, juice and jam. It set the tone for the rest of the stay. Kulalani 2006 is the hands down best appointed luxury condo we have ever stayed at. We loved the island decor and the furniture was comfortable. The bedding and mattresses were super clean and smelled fresh. There were ample towels and very nice starter bath products. They provided all the beach and swim gear you can think of which was such a nice bonus. The most impressive thing was the amazing kitchen and grill area. There were great pots & pans, sharp knives and every appliance that you could need! They had a waffle iron, a slow cooker and a margarita machine! All top of the line. Everything was super clean and in new or near new condition.
We were super happy with our stay and can't wait to go back!

Mahalo Nina and Richard for providing us with such a wonderful place to stay while we were on the Big Island.

Your attention to detail was noticed through out the trip, and made our stay at Kulalani 2006 a real pleasure. What you see is exactly what you get! :) The villa is spacious, comfortable and clean with every amenity we could need! The beach equipment was greatly appreciated; it made our trips to the beach so much more comfortable!

Our interactions with you two, from beginning to the end, have been prompt, informative and professional which was greatly appreciated. You answered every question we asked and was always bang on with your knowledge!

Thank you again for everything.

Richard and Nina have found the perfect blend of providing a luxury high-end hotel accommodations aesthetic with personal, welcoming, homey touches in a vintage Hawaii plantation style huge condo. They provide a detailed "house rules" handbook that makes total sense for respecting and keeping their home looking beautiful and well-kept for the next renters. It was a joy to stay in a home with so many amenities and perks.
