Located near Lisburn and Mechanicsburg (suburbs of Harrisburg), Pennsylvania, the Yellow Breeches Cottage is a cozy vacation home sitting directly on the banks of the Yellow Breeches Creek, a nationally renowned location for fishing and popular for kayaking and canoeing. Its proximity to US Route 15 and Interstate 83 make it only a two hour drive outside of the District of Columbia area and Baltimore, 30 minutes to Hershey (Chocolatetown, USA and home to HersheyPark), 15 minutes to center city Harrisburg (the Capitol of PA) and 30 minutes to Gettysburg with its infamous Battlefield and outlets.

The Yellow Breeches Cottage is a great location as a base if you are from out of the area, visiting family or several locations in Central Pennsylvania. Since we are dog friendly, you can bring your four legged family member and use the fenced in side yard for playtime. It has a large shade tree and lots of room to romp. Of course, the creek is just a few feet away too! Located less than a mile away is a large community park along the creek, complete with a fenced in dog park, nature trails and more!

A stay in the Yellow Breeches Cottage offers year round activities. In the winter, take a 15 minute drive to Roundtop Mountain Resort (formerly Ski Roundtop) and spend the day on skis, snowboards or go tubing, day or night. Or you can drive to Hershey, PA and visit Chocolate World at Hershey Park or go shopping at the Outlets of Hershey.

Spring, Summer and Fall are wonderful times to stay at Yellow Breeches Cottage. The tranquil, scenic Yellow Breeches Creek is a perfect spot for kayaking, canoeing and tubing. Imagine having a cup of coffee on the deck and walking a few steps to the creek to cast your fishing rod while sitting on the private dock or just relax on the deck with family and/or friends.

If you like to golf, you can almost walk to Liberty Forge, home of an 18 hole golf course as well as a miniature golf course and restaurant.

Located only 30 minutes or less to Hershey, you can visit Hershey Park and enjoy rides and entertainment, visit Chocolate World, shop at the Outlets of Hershey and learn about Milton Hershey at The Hershey Story Museum. In the fall and winter, if you are a hockey fan, you have to check out a Hershey Bears game!

Also located 45 minutes away is Gettysburg, home of one of the most historic landmarks in the US, The Gettysburg Battlefield as well as many antique shops and outlets.

Harrisburg, the Capitol of Pennsylvania, is only 15 minutes away and is one of the most historic and beautiful State Capitol buildings in the U.S.! You can tour the Capitol, visit the Pennsylvania State Museum, Whitaker Science Center and enjoy a walk along the beautiful Susquehanna River. City Island, home of the Harrisburg Senators minor league baseball team is a fun activity or take a ride on a riverboat, The Pride of the Susquehanna.

Also, if you need more space or the cottage is unavailable, check out the sister property next door, Yellow Breeches Cabin, Property Number 195446.

So why stay in a cramped hotel where you have to go out to eat and have little room to move around when you can have a spacious cottage with full kitchen, washer, dryer and beautiful setting along a creek? Hope to see you!

“What a beautiful place!”

We've rented lots of cottages and this was definitely one if the nicest. Immaculate, comfortable, well supplied and even prettier than the photos show. It's hard to believe you're so close to Mechanicsburg. A truly relaxing place to vacation.

Owner's reply: Thanks Ilene! So happy to read this and to know that you had a nice, relaxing time at the cottage! Have a great end of summer and fall! Lisa

“Peaceful Yellow Breeches Cottage”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

We found this cottage to be a relaxing, peaceful and a nurturing place to recuperate each evening from a jam-packed vacation. The cottage was well stocked with linens, cooking utensils, and all the other comforts of home. Each evening we were visited by a beautiful doe and a flock of Canadian geese were frequently seen on the creek. The proximity of the creek makes this a birder's paradise. We visited all the usual tourist hot spots like Hershey, Lancaster, Harrisburg, York, and Carlisle, but we found downtown Mechanicsburg to be lovely. Everything was easily reachable from this cottage. Although we left our dog at home for this trip, it's obvious that the cottage owners go out of their way to accommodate those traveling with pets. There were pet linens and a fenced in portion of the yard for romping. If we return to the region again, we would definitely stay here again and bring along our furry friend! To sum up our review, you'll find Yellow Beeches cottage to be a clean, well stocked, enjoyable place to call home while you travel. We sure did.

“Work/Play Vacation”

A wonderful, clean home in a perfect location. Much larger than the pics show. It's privately located on a creek with incredible views. The perfect deck to enjoy your morning coffee while watching the deer and ducks. An easy drive to Gettysburg, Hershey and Lancaster and the golf course is right up the road.Plus---it's pet friendly with a really large fenced in run for them. I can't say enough-we loved it.

Owner's reply: Thanks Suzanne! So glad to hear that you had a great stay! Thanks for the review and hope you can visit again soon! Lisa

The cottage is very well equipped we everything you could possibly need! We loved being able to bring our puggle with us and he really enjoyed walking in the creek with us. Great place to go fishing, tubing, etc. Can't wait to go back again!!!!!

We rented this peaceful cottage for only a few days, but wished we could have stayed longer. Lived up to our expectations and was conviently located. The creek was refreshing and our three year old Golden doodle had fun chasing leaves in the slight current. I would be willing to return at a future date.

Owner's reply: Glad you and your furry friend had a nice time at the Yellow Breeches Cottage and enjoyed the creek! Thanks!

Overall i was very pleased with my stay at the Yellow Breeches Cottage. We stayed for five days and four nights in July, upon entering the cottage I was very surprised to see the place looked better then it did in the photos. The interior of the cottage is very spacious and the four of us that stayed were comfortable and had plenty of space. The creek was fun, low when we first arrived then with rain became high, but we were able to take advantage and let our dog play in the creek. The location of the cottage was perfect for traveling to Hershey Park/Chocolate World, seeing some of the areas wineries and visiting Gettysburg. Since we had our dog with us and we like to workout we were pleasantly surprised to find a very beautiful park just down the road from the cottage for walking the dog/morning jogs. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking to get away from a hotel and spend some time in Central Pa.

Owner's reply: Thanks Dave! Glad that you, your family and dog had a good time at the Yellow Breeches Cottage and got to enjoy the creek and surrounding areas!

“Great stay at the Yellow Breeches Cottage”

We took a vacation with my family for a visit to Hershey which is about 25 minutes from the cottage. When we arrived the place was beautiful. Everything was green with lush trees. The house was really cute from the outside, there was a wonderful creek which my daughter and two young nephews greatly enjoyed splashing around in and watching the ducks and other children tubing and boating down the stream. When we entered the house we were excited to see all the upgrades and remodel that had recently been done. New carpet, stocked kitchen with dinnerware and utensils an upgraded tv and dvd player, a new pull out couch which really worked out well for the kids, as well as the beds that were very comfy in the two bedrooms. Lisa also made sure we had everything we needed as the place also had games and a variety of movies for all to enjoy along with a book that highlighted all the area attractions including local restaurants and grocery stores in the area. Overall, we had a great time and I recommend this place if you're looking for a place for a peaceful getaway for young and old! Thanks again Lisa and family, we had a memorable time!

We stayed in early January for a weekend ski trip to Roundtop and it was perfect! We had 2 couples and found it to be a cozy place to relax after a day of skiing, get up and make breakfast and hit the slopes again. Definitely will stay here again in the summer when we kayak! Thanks!
