“Very nice getaway opportunity”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2016

The blue water retreat that we stayed at was a perfect place to stay. The place was accommodating enough to allow pets, so we were able to bring along our black lab. We spent most of the time on the public beach and the boat. We enjoyed the local restaurants. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

“Great Lakehouse for a weekend getaway”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2016

When I arrived at the lake house, it had been well cleaned and all of the information we needed was prepared for us well in advance. The property owners also called us the following day as a follow-up to make sure that we were comfortable and made themselves available for questions. This was a great experience for us.

“Absolute amazing stay at the lake!”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2016

From the initial outreach with Laura and Jeff, to them returning my security deposit, the entire process and string of communication was flawless and easy to conduct. As for the property, I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect place to relax at the lake with my family. The house accommodated us as if it were our own. The best part was the backyard since I could sit in a chair and play ball with my dog. Also the lake was walking distance through the backyard, which made for easy boat launches. Such a great place and Jeff/Laura were extremely wonderful to work with. I'm visiting again soon!

Owner's reply: Hello Dave! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are looking forward to having your family at our home next year!

“Nice and Quite”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2015

We loved this place very much! It was very relaxing and quite. Pet friendly, which is a must with us. The walk to the boat landing was very close. The only reason for the 4 stars is the grass needed cutting bad. Was always "looking" when had to walk in the backyard do the height of the grass. If grass had been cut, 5 stars all the way!! The owners are great as well! Very helpful on everything you need. Looking forward to another stay soon!!

Owner's reply: Hi Robin, Thank you for your stay at our home. I am sorry that the grass was long, it's been a rainy summer and our lawn mower service usually mows every 2 weeks unless it's a rainy day. I wish you called me about the grass and I would of sent someone right away.

“Lovely home”

We spent a long weekend at this very beautiful home. Good for family of 5. We love the fire log as well as access to the local beach. The house was clean and had everything you needs. We enjoyed the nature and our little dog was enjoyed running in the yard. We would vacation there again.

Owner's reply: Thank you Sandra

“Great getaway home”

Our small family stayed at Blue Water Retreat with some friends (another small family). We all had a great time. We built a fire and had s'mores, caught fireflies in the big yard, the kids and Dads went fishing, and we had a blast at the beach at the State Park. The house was clean and comfortable and was perfect for our group.

“We will be back!”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2012

Charming house in a great location. Quiet place to get away from it all. Small shared sandy beach area and dock located at the end of the property. We grilled at night and made s'mores in the fire pit. Grocery store within driving distance. Couldn't ask for more. We will be back soon!

Owner's reply: Thank you Cat! It was a pleasure meeting you in person :)

“Great Place To Visit”

Very confortable home! Nice quiet community. Private beach area fantastic for children. Boat dock very convenient to use your boat anytime. We really enjoyed our stay. It went by way too fast. Home is fully equiped. Confortable furniture and bed. Lots of hot water for after swim showers. Kitchen has all you need. We will come back. Nice fire pit (unfortunately rain at night when we wanted to use it).

“The Perfect Getaway”

Reviewed 25 Jan 2011

We couldn't have asked for more-- the entire weekend from start to finish was perfect. And, the owners were incredibly responsive and organized with instructions and follow-up. Dickinson's market was so close by for any essentials we forgot to pack (water), and we explored a bit on Sunday, taking in an afternoon wine tasting at Lake Anna Winery. Great tip for those coming after Jan 19, 2011...on the way to the winery, we noticed a new Food Lion opening up, and a few other shops in the same plaza! Our dog, Mysti, loved her leisurely walks through the community, and the nights were capped off with a bonfire in the firepit, toasted marshmellows, under clear skies with the stars and moon. We'll be back again next year!

“Relaxing Weekend Get-away”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2010

We wanted to stay at a log cabin that was quiet, near the water, able to bring our dog, and hassle free. We got our wish and more. We loved sitting by the firepit at night & even went to town for lunch which everyone was super friendly. We were able to go to the farmers mkt there to get veggies to grill for dinner. The short walk to the water was a treat and we even drove to the main park(~10min) which was very deflightful. The house was charming and the owners were very helpful with the booking process. We would def stay here again.
