“"Stranded" in a stunning setting”

Reviewed 10 May 2016

We stayed in this beautiful house for a week in May. Not only was it stunning, it was spacious, pristinely clean and comfortable, as well. The house has a fabulous kitchen, beautiful private pool and luxury sleeping and bath accommodations. High-end appliances, two dishwashers, ice machine and tons of seating make it perfect for a couples trip or families with children! Wi-fi and many TVs (every bedroom and bunk, plus great room and covered patio) will keep everyone entertained. An covered outdoor grill area was an unexpected treat. The beautiful white sand beach is a very short walk to a gated, private access. You can have your chairs and umbrellas waiting just a few yards from the gate. We truly felt like we were on vacation, but not "stranded" at all!

Owner's reply: Sharon, thank you very much for your great review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay, and hope that you are able to return for another visit soon!

“Fantastic house”

Reviewed 3 May 2016

Stayed at Stranded on a Sandbar for a one week golf trip and I can say it is the nicest house ever in the Destin area. Fabulous private pool, unbelievable large kitchen, great bedrooms and all the needed amenities. Very short walk to the beach as well. Located close to golf courses, restaurants, etc. Truly can't miss lodging for a large crowd.

Owner's reply: Mr. Douglas, thank you very much for taking the time to submit your review. We really appreciate it, and hope you can visit again soon!

“Guys Golf Trip”

This is absolutely a high end property! We used the house as the base for 25+ guys on our trip. We had dinners here that accommodated the whole group, Huge kitchen! The Beds are Ritz Carlton quality! Pool and Hot tub are great with lots of entertaining area. This house would be perfect for families too, with 25+ tvs, pool table and just a very short walk to the beach with private access. Everyone loved this house. Tons of restaurants nearby, and a coffee bar is an easy walk. I Highly recommend this property!

Review by Walker Kinney 4/28/16:
Stranded on a Sandbar is conveniently located both to the beach and to great seafood restaurants. The house is unmatched in its comfortability. The beds are extremely comfortable. If going out to dinner isn't your thing, then the grill outside is ideally located next to the pool to facilitate an excellent cook-out. The heated pool and the hot tub are spacious and in great condition. The game room floor and the common room floor as well as the porches (with great views) and pool area provide more than enough space to accommodate large groups. I cannot recommend this house highly enough for your vacation.

Review by John Parrett 4/27/16:
What an incredible house. There's probably enough beds to fit two dozen people comfortably, and friends back home thought the pictures I was taking at the gigantic pool outback were at a community pool for the whole neighborhood. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, which I made repeatedly barefoot throughout the week, and close to a bunch of restaurants in the area. Easily the best vacation house I've ever stayed at, will be going back ASAP.

Review by Eric Evans 4/26/16:
Before I even got to Destin, my expectations were high based on the pictures and reviews alone. That being said, my stay at Stranded on a Sandbar blew those expectations out of the water. The house itself is incredible and has all the comforts you could ever want or need. What really makes it special though are the little details that were implemented to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable.

When you first get to the house, you’ll see 8 beach cruisers out front, I didn’t pay a lot of attention to them at first, but my goodness what an asset they ended up being. With so many great restaurants, bars, and attractions within biking distance they allowed our group to explore and enjoy the great Destin weather without having to cram into the car. The house also has a wireless Bluetooth speaker system (with an aux wire behind the TV on the first floor if need be) that can be used in any room in the house. It’s details like these that clearly show a lot of thought was put into Stranded on a Sandbar.

The house also has a great structure. The vaulted 10 foot ceiling’s really contribute to the beach vibe. The bedrooms are very spacious and are close, but not too close. They’re private, but they don’t feel isolated. The common spaces all flow together very nicely but each serve a unique purpose. The first floor is the perfect entertaining space, with a high-top table, access to the summer kitchen and pool/hot tub, TV, wet bar, and a pool table. The Second floor is the living room/kitchen combo. The overstuffed leather couch, which I’m pretty sure is made out of clouds, is separated from the dining area by a commercial grade kitchen, featuring stainless Viking Appliances like the 8 burner (plus griddle) gas range and double oven. On the other side of the kitchen is a dedicated dining table and a built in breakfast nook. Despite its magnetism, no one goes to Destin to stay inside all day.

Stranded on a Sandbar has 5 balconies (2 on the front, 3 on the back) including a widows walk that gives great views of the surrounding area and of the picturesque gulf sunsets. On the main level is the summer kitchen, with a prep-area and grill situated behind an outdoor sofa (perfect for cooking the catch of the day) and love seat surrounding a TV in case you wanted to lounge around outside but didn’t want to miss the game. And then of course, there’s the pool.
The heated pool and hot-tub were the mainstay of our vacation. More specifically the table and bench/stools in the pool (again, a small detail that you might not consider, but really made our stay that much more enjoyable) where we were able to fit 7 of us with plenty of room to spare. The pool is a great size, we were able to fit more than our fair share of floating inflatable animals (that you can buy at one of the numerous stores just around the corner), and even has its own shallow end where you can put lounge chairs. After a long day, there was nothing quite like floating around the pool with the underwater illuminating the back yard. The hot tub was also very generously sized, fitting our entire group of 7. This area is great if you’re like me and love the water, but aren’t too fond of the sand. That being said, no trip to the Gulf would be complete without a trip to the famous white sand beaches.

Located just a stones-throw away from Stranded on a Sandbar is a gate with access to the private beach. Pro tip: there are extra beach chairs located in the garage. Being able to go to the beach without having to be concerned about staking out a spot, and being able to run back to the house to grab a bite to eat was absolutely amazing.

If after an adventurous day, you don’t have time to make it to the bedrooms on the third-floor, they’ve thought of that too, don’t worry. Just call the elevator and it’ll take you right on up.
At some point you’ll have to wash the sunscreen, sand, and saltwater off and there is no better place to do it than the spa bathrooms inside the house. Each bathroom comes with a very modern glass-doored shower, tiled shower, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of the two, yes two, master suites you’ll have access to a stand-alone Jacuzzi tub, and a rain shower-head with wall-mounted nozzles. All of the shower-heads are at least 7 ft. high, so if you’re tall like me, there’s no crouching needed.

All in all, this house is something out of an HGTV show. It has incredible amenities, its location is perfect, and really, this review doesn’t do it justice, you’ll just have to see for yourself! Only a week out from my trip and I’m already longing to go back — to Destin, sure, but really to Stranded on a Sandbar.
