Specializing in small seminars, retreats and reunions for groups up to 34 people in a luxurious setting. Built in 2007, the appliances, big screen TV, and new furniture are of very high quality.

The R&R House, has two units, each of which will seat 24 to 34 in the main room. Air conditioned, too! Each R&R House unit will sleep 12. Add the 10 that nearby Rough House Cabin sleeps and you can not only seat 34 in one room for Retreats and Reunions, you can sleep 34 using both buildings. Covered parking for four cars plus lots more street parking.

Each R&R House unit has a gas fireplace, big-screen TV with DVD and cable, wireless internet, three bedrooms, two bathrooms (we like the double shower!), fully-stocked kitchen including side-by-side fridge, laundry access, hot tub access, room for up to 34 seated, including folding tables and chairs, and beautiful ocean views for your Retreats and Reunions!

The R&R House is part of the Rough House property, with two duplexes on the acre-and-a-half oceanfront property (that goes all the way under the water into the ocean):

All Four units (both buildings) have miles of beach views, decks, TV/ DVD/cable, small BBQs and full kitchens with dishwasher, range/oven and microwave. Lots to do: Beach toys, kites, games, puzzles, videos, etc. available. Each building is about sixty steps to the high tide line, with beach access right on the property. Watch the sunset over the ocean from the sheltered hot tub! Make 'smores in the nearby private fire pit (all the fun of camping, with none of the hassles)! We are a leisurely stroll away from a major resort (pool, restaurant, health club, etc.) Retreats and Reunions in style!
Area Information
From Interstate 5, take the highway 101 exit in Olympia (Exit 104) west toward Aberdeen. Do not exit when highway 101 exits after a few miles--instead follow the main freeway toward Aberdeen and Hoquiam. Closer to Aberdeen, the limited access freeway changes into a big street, and it becomes highway 101 again. Stay on 101 through Aberdeen and Hoquiam. Continue on 101 about 4 miles beyond Hoquiam (about 4.5 miles past the first highway 109 turnoff) until you see Ocean Beach Road. The sign will say to Moclips. Turn left onto Ocean Beach Road. Go about 20 miles until you come to a four-way stop at highway 109. Turn right. In less than a mile, you will see an "Entering Moclips" sign. After that, you will see Ocean Crest Resort. One tenth of a mile past the resort, turn left onto Sunset Street—it is a one lane road. Follow Sunset Street through the big S-turn, beside beautiful Sunset Beach, until the road turns to gravel. On the right after the road turns to gravel is 52 Sunset (the “Cabin”), with a big "Welcome" sign in front of the hot tub enclosure. The next building on the right is 58 Sunset (the “R&R House”).
When we say we are “sixty steps to the ocean” we refer to the distance between us and the official high tide line (183 feet, or about sixty paces with my big feet). One of the interesting things about Washington State ocean beaches is the big difference between high tide and low tide—it can be twelve feet or more vertically, which can mean over a quarter of a mile horizontally! So at low tide, we are WAY more than “sixty steps to the ocean” as somebody once pointed out.

The R&R House in Moclips!

July 13, 2015

This was the 1st time I'd even stopped at Moclips, usually opting to stay in Ocean Shores. It was quieter but just as beautiful & scenic, and on the 4th of July weekend, the traffic was comparatively non-existent. This property is nicely situated, just a short path through beach groves to the beach, and nicely appointed with the essentials (cookware, eating utensils, spices, etc.), very clean and comfortable. I look forward to renting here again!

We had a great time. The property was clean and the view was amazing! Super close drive to the beach and had every amenity we needed. We would definitely stay at this location again.

Thanksgiving getaway

December 1, 2014

Peaceful, quiet, serene atmosphere. The home was warm and clean and very roomy. Lots of linens and towels for use, although there were only three of us, it was a wet, rainy cold time outside and very difficult to stay dry when we went outside. Being able to get away on such short notice and you being able to accommodate our needs was fantastic! This trip brought back a lot of fond childhood memories for my husband, as he used to go clam digging as a child growing up on the coast of Washington.

Great home away from home!

The rental property was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located by the beach. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Pacific House

October 15, 2010

The view and windows were spectacular. Lots of room. The loft upstairs needed a bath. For the number of people it accommodates, 2 baths are not enough. There were only 7 towels for the 10 of us and the dryer didn't it was difficult with showers and hot tub to have clean dry towels. Our Thanksgiving was nonetheless very nice. Thanks.

Beautiful and relaxing

July 21, 2010

The property was great. There was most everything we needed in one place. The down side was the hot tub was not in our building but next door. Otherwise, the views, accommodations and most everything else was perfect.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

"The ultimate beach experience." -- Brian "It just doesn't get any better than this." -- James "We enjoyed the accommodations so much we found it hard to tear ourselves away to stroll on the beautiful beach." -- Michelle "The view is gorgeous." -- Norm "We had a blast!" -- Karen

A few years ago, Doug and Lorraine Rough were losing money in the stock market before it was a trendy thing to do.
So, they took the remainder of the money they were saving for their kids' college fund and invested it in a little secluded
cabin on the Washington state coast as an experiment. This little experiment has been a lot of work.
It has been a learning experience for us and we have had some stumbles. But by and large,
most folks have enjoyed their stay and we have had many happy returns.
The view is stunning! We are really not trying to make money so much as we are trying to protect our children's college fund
and maybe have a place for our family to gather in the future—maybe your family, too.

We hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any problems, please don't hesitate to tell us, so we can try and remedy them as soon as possible. If you buy something you think we should have at the property and leave it behind, we will reimburse you up to $50 if you photograph it and send us the receipt. We'll also reimbuse you for minor repairs, up to the amount we would have paid to get it done (or, of course, you can call us and we'll send out our maintenance guy).

Plan your Retreats and Reunions at the R&R House. (Seminars, too!)
“R&R” = “Retreats and Reunions” or “Rest and Relaxation” or both!- Doug Rough

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a leash law?
A: Not aware of any leash law.
Q: Should we bring linens?
A: In general, no. Our property manager, who cleans many properties, uses somewhat small towels. If you like larger towels, bring them (especially for hot tub or beach use).
Q: How far does the beach go?
A: You can walk for two miles north before you hit the Moclips River, or two miles south before you hit Joe Creek.
